I dreamt of a dream

To be a part of GIM

The chances to me seemed so slim

And my eyes were filled to brim….

The preparation for it was pretty hectic

No room mattered, whether it was bedroom or in the attic,

The books were so magnetic,

But my dedication towards them was so pathetic..!!

The clock kept on saying tick-tick

Then came the exam day very holistic

The day I was supposed to perform majestic

The day to use all my exam tactics

Then came the day when exam results were declared,

Lucky me, from the tough GD-PI group I was spared,

GD and PI are 2 things I always hate,

Results will be out in a month, they said “please wait”!

After waiting, waiting, and loads of nail biting

I was only thinking of the journey that was so exciting,

OMG..!! Yes, I had made it through...

My dream to study at GIM had just come true!

I dreamt of a dream

To be a part of GIM

And it seemed like a film!

When I finally got into GIM..!!

Good to see posts from juniors and some from the students of 13-15 batch as well even before they have joined the college..

I am sure that all of them are quite excited for the new beginning. And this is what 12-14 guys are planning for them..

It's def going to be fun for all you guys..

It's that time of the year when it starts raining at Goa. And the God's own Campus becomes even more picturesque..

So, be ready for the fun all you 13-15 Students..

I read so many posts on this thread.. its wonderful to see that GIM is loved by everyone alike.. but none of the posts could describe their Life@GIM in its entirety. I don't even think it's possible! You get to see 10 new things every single day.. with 100 same old! Some things are a part of your daily routine, and you tend to realise it when you are away from GIM.. Some things happen once a year but leaves an un-forgetful impression on your mind.. Anyway, in my previous posts I've mostly mentioned the fun stuff. So this time I'll be focussing on the things I learnt at GIM. In the last one year at GIM, "Some great learning has happened."

I wasn't a very difficult child but I would always ask ma to allow me to sleep for 5 more minutes. Many times I would miss my bus and dad used to drop me to school. At GIM, there's no possibility for all these.. I know if I don't get up right now, I might have to miss my class for the day, which would eventually reflect on my grade. So I get up and iron my t-shirt for the day (Yeah, I learnt to iron clothes at GIM). I know how to keep my room clean and organised, but I rarely had to do it at home. I've learnt how to be disciplined, and self-dependent everyday!!

I was in my comfort zone at home, and would mostly get things done my way.. My childhood friends and family would agree to my terms and conditions at all times, but not everyone else. So here at GIM I've learnt to think of alternatives, and I've learnt to convince people and I've also learnt to get convinced when required.. I've learnt to be a smart team player at GIM!!

In my graduation college, the faculty was very lenient and I, just like my batch-mates would usually not follow the deadlines, bunk 50% of the classes and still score above average marks. Here, most of the faculty members have that persona that not only commands respect, but also motivates me to be regular in all aspects. I've learnt to be punctual and consistent!!

Besides all this.. the standard and quality of work that I've done here is just class apart from whatever I've done in my previous life! Pre-classroom preparations, the format of reports, the quality of case studies and group assignments (only those that are made without any kind of academic dishonesty ), presentations, interaction with the faculty, etc.. its just different in a better way. I've learnt how to add value to my work!!

I've learnt a lot more than this but I'll leave some experiences for the up-coming posts!! Ciao!

I Miss GIM

So my parents used to call me everyday after they left me at GIM.. Dad used to say, "You know you can leave the college and come back home anytime you want to, right? And I would reply, "Yes Dad, of course, anytime!!" And Mom.. Mom would be all concerned .. asking if I was facing any issues, if I'm able to adjust there or not.. If everyone is being nice to me or not!! And I would just nod and say 'Yes mom.. All's well!!"

But, the reality was a little different.. All wasn't well.. In fact, I was more than happy here… I was elated!! How to adjust at GIM, when you feel that the college is custom-made for you? I can bet 99% of my batch thinks in line with me!! I was like this.. "G.I.M me rehung mai.. guar nahi jaungi mai" (in the Essel world ad tone) I did my internship in my hometown and I'm here since 21st March.. And I would like to confess that I did not miss Indore as much when I was in GIM.. as I miss being at GIM when I'm in Indore .. The place where I grew up and spent 20 years of my life.. Strange but true! Why?

Because it's some other world.. my world!! I miss My room, My roommate, Lying down at the window ledge watching the clear Goan night sky.. waiting for shooting stars , View from the stairs behind the library while sipping coffee from Jaggu , Sleepless nights of preparing group assignments, Birthday bashes , The competitive environment before any Prayas event , The crazy getting-ready-for-razzy-party frenzy , The Kshitiz meetings at its HQ and between H1 and H3 (@facebook we really gotta name d hostels soon )
, Discussing the ghost story of room number 1313, Guitar sessions in Palve's room , Long walks in the campus with random people, Singing-out-loud old hindi songs with a few friends in the amphitheatre , Going to the faculty block for downloading movies , Ice-tea in the balcony with my floor-mates while waving out to anyone who passes by, Club events, The ever so ready to help seniors , Parking lot, Forming organising teams for ganesh poojan, garba, etc, the night outs, Waiting for the washing machine to get free, The hookah nights, Lending clothes to Mitu and borrowing some from Jumma, The notorious cats, The cute li'l pups (i named them pappu, chintoo, banti and champu ), Watching people play carom, Random senseless discussions about the leopard, Midnight snacks, Going out of the classrooms in the middle of a presentation and coming back half an hour later , The email spamming streaks , Photo sessions, Jogging up and down the sankhli hill, The small but extremely beautiful village behind the campus!!! This not even 5% of what I miss about GIM and Goa!!!

This is a little hard to digest.. but I even miss my seat in CR3.. I hated it when they said we've to sit according to roll numbers.. and still I miss sitting there.. feeling irritated when i would see that people sitting right opposite to me are sleeping .. feeling jealous that it wasn't possible for me as there was no obstacle that could i hide me from the faculty. I miss giving exams in the MPH although most of the times i was seated on the first bench in the centre row!

I miss these sentences too... 'It's so hot, lets go to the library and chill ', 'The food is horrible today lets order from celebrations/jk/sawant', 'Look at the clouds dude ', 'You in for a drive ?', 'Are you coming to the party ?', 'Assignment ho gaya ho toh tujhe mail kar de ' (and if you say yes, you will receive dozens of whatsapp messages asking for your assignment ), To kailash - 'Bhaiya, 1 cold-coffee aur 1 bournvita', 'Arrey yaar, fir se RT Talk hai.. MPH tak kaun jaega !!!!', 'Aaj kiska birthday hai?' , 'Check your mail.. there's another assignment' , 'Formals on hai aaj' and 'Globaal mat de yaar' .. Trust me there are a lot more!!! Sigh!!!

I can go on and on and on about it.. Wondering how this experience is gonna start for you all (the coming batch).. Eagerly waiting for starting another year and wishing that the PGDM course gets extended for 2 more years. But, I've office tomorrow.. So I'd rather dream about GIM for the next 6 hours.. Ciao!!!

Life @ GIM (Goa Institute of Management) Wins "The Best Life at B-School Thread" Award.. The Award comes back to GIM after 6 long years..

It would not have been possible without the efforts of students from 2011-13 Batch, 2012-14 Batch , Mayur Sir (@mayurnayak84 ) , Snape Sir (@severus_snape ) , Jatin Sir (@vars.jat ) & others..

Request the 2012-14 Batch and the coming batches to keep contributing and keep this thread Alive for the Aspirants..

Only a few days left before internship gets over and we head off to yet another amazing year of GIM life. Meanwhile I got the opportunity to attend the Summer Alumni meet in Delhi. I know why so many alumni come to these meets year after year. It gives them the opportunity to reflect upon probably the best two years of their life.

I met a lot of people who were so passionate about GIM & wished they could have their campus life back. They do not emotionally connect with the Sanquelim campus but they still remember every minute detail of the Ribandar campus.

So glad to meet the guy who was part of the composition team of the GIM Anthem “GIM mein mai”. Every year the new batches try out new songs, it will take some innovation to reach this popularity. They shared their amazing stories & unforgettable moments. My senior SAC shared how he successfully tried his Globaal techniques with the cops at 03:00am to rescue a fellow GIMite from “one night at a police station”

It was great to see how passionate they were about the clubs they represented during their tenure at GIM. We almost had yet another Mecca vs the rest thing going before a Razzie came out with the cocktails. They asked how was Basanti & do bike rides still happen??? Of course they do!!!!! They said they miss the cool & calm evenings by the Mandovi & Jaggu's paranthe.

One suggestion they gave me was to ask my batch-mates to name the hostels. They still miss the masti in OT(hostel) & couldn't believe we have named only H5 as Mandwa and the rest are still called H1, H2 & so on..I hope the coming batches will take a cue if mine doesn't. My first experience related to GIM

This is life prior to joining GIM campus. The journey began on December 31st ,my friend notified me that it was the last day for submitting domicile certificates and he was going to submit his sisters domicile form . My parents were supposed to go to my aunts place , but to my luck they had not yet left , i told them to keep the domicile documents ready . Cited a reason of some urgent personal work at office and left for home collected my domicile documents , and off i went to Sanquelim Campus which is roughly around 29 kms from where i used to stay. It was a long ride in the sun and i had not had my lunch as yet . Rushed to the admissions office and had to wait for 15-20 minutes as it was lunch time . After submitting my domicile documents , i had a good look at the campus and what a beauty it was . Wondered in my mind that getting a admission here would be so awesome . After all this had my lunch at 3.30 PM

Time passed by answered XAT , the results came out . To the bad luck of many ppl , GIM had introduced sectional cut-offs this year . Despite clearing the overall cutoff i did not recieve any mail till midnight, the sectional cut-off confusion had put me off and i thought i wont fetch a GIM call this year .Finally recieved the mail past 12.00 am when i was watching the 1st Leg of RM Vs Man U. I just could not stop smiling that night even just with a GD/PI call.

Time was passing fast and our GD/PI date was approaching nearby , after loads of stupid queries which were cleared more than eagerly by Avinash , Mangesh, Priyank , Swayambhar and many other seniors it was finally time for GD/PI . Seeing more than 20-25 people over there my heart started pounding even more . Few people reading the days newspaper , some discussing about the various calls they had , i just started talking about various things with the person next to me which also helped me calm my nerves a lil . After a good GD and a Stress PI which lasted barely for 5 minutes and with a XAT score marginally more than the GIM cutoff , i did not know what to expect .

The first list of converts was announced in March and my name was not there in the list ,was dissapointed but i knew this was not the final list so held on to my hope. Finally converted in the second list announced in April . It was like a fairy tale converting GIM in such a manner :).

Waiting for June 17th to come to GIM and have a awesome 2 years which i always dreamt of in past few months .More 17 days to go as i post this on PG .

Guys, which score is considered for admissions for GIM for engineering graduates?

I am from University of Pune. The degree which we receive has only final year marks which in my case is 65 % . However,my aggregate of all semesters is around 58.3 . UoP does not consider the aggregate and the BE degree is awarded based on final 2 semester marks. Same is the case with Mumbai University.pls tell me which score should i consider for admissions? the score on which the university has awarded the degree or the aggregate percentage.

Konnect2GIM: CONVOCATION 2011-2013

Summer Internships are going on for all of us and I am missing the GIM life badly just like everyone else from my batch. Most of my day is spent on reading posts like “I miss GIM” and sorting out queries on the FB group of 13-15 batch.

One year passed like a rocket and it's impossible to define the experience in words. I would fall short of superlatives in trying to define it. It has been more awesome than I thought it would be.

I have made some really good friends who will not let go one opportunity to harass me in public or private. Living in the deluxe pollution and travelling in chaotic traffic of Gurgaon makes me realize how remarkable it is to be in Goa.

It's so hot here, sometimes I feel that I will die of dehydration. Dehydration reminds me the cure of all of man's problem- BEER. But even that is three times the price of what we usually buy in Goa. I miss coffees with the Kashmiri inside the cooler than Kashmir HDFC ATM.

Working in a microbrewery, I thought beer shall not be a problem. But a glass costs me 349+Taxes here. The 6-7 of us usually get sloshed in the same amount of money. Petrol is just about the same story.

The beautiful hills of Sanquelim will welcome us with a splash of nature's best coolant by the time we are back to college. That will cure the heat stroke the corporate world would have given us.

I hope the legacy of this thread would continue with the new batch. And words like jaggu, kailash, prayas, razzie, ribandar, will continue to trend for years to come.

With another day of work almost gone & Delhi close to yet another IPL defeat time to wrap up the post.

Goa, A state of mind. A State of placid culture and eventful evenings. If someone can spend two weeks in Goa, he will be ecstatic. I spent two years in Goa, so you can imagine how hard would it be for me to bid farewell. I have avoided writing this post for a long time now. Finally, I have jostled and gathered enough courage and I sit writing this post about GIM with moist eyes.

Goa Institute of Management will not only be a crucial chapter in my life but an unforgettable memory. A memory which I will always refer while facing the ups and downs of my impending corporate journey. But, more importantly, I take along with me friendships for life. I take along bonds, which I can say, are unbreakable. I know I can accumulate courage and strive to reach the top. Because, I know, there is a net of these friendships and bonds, which will catch me and help me bounce back, shall I fall.

The couple of years in Goa have been crazy. Crazier than my engineering days. Such is not the case for all of us, I agree. But, my engineering days were quite dry in Gujarat. If you know what I mean! Moreover, Goa itself is so enchanting in its own ways, that is sparks individuality. It induces the courage to live life at its fullest. I have been captivated by these vibes of independence. I have been mesmerized by the ways of joyous life and been subjugated by the ambiance. I have lived my two years at GIM, at its fullest.

Goa Institute of Management has given me opportunities to learn. Without corporate experience, it becomes imperative to get accustomed to trivial nuances. These small things, which seem insignificant, are actually most important when showcasing your corporate image in public. These seemingly unimportant things can be learnt only by execution and not by mere conceptualization of ideas.

The parties during our tenure at GIM will be considered as best memories ever. Be it beach parties or regular hostel parties, we have had the best time during these parties. Some disappointments occurred, only to be taken care of later.

Lastly, I still congratulate myself for deciding to come to GIM two years back. The unforgettable journey comes to an end. But, I will not cry its over. I will rather smile, it happened. End of an era, end of a journey.
