I would suggest.. you may search a bit more and depending on the cost, area of your interest you may select the one.

In case of correspondence it wont make much difference of which university you select but if time permits and you can manage then you may look on for Part-time MBA too.

If you had not yet joined any course.. then if you are in mumbai, i would suggest you to join Part Time... as in terms of learning it would be much more then distance learning. Also you can get a good brand name such as jb, nm, etc.

All the branches of ICFAI do not function independently and it has direct control by Head Office i.e. Hyderabad. ICFAI has same fees structure across India.

ICFAI has 15 Campuses across India and Sikkim & Tripura campus are one of them. Initially ICFAI provided Distance MBA only from Tripura but know it is also offering from Sikkim but curriculum its almost same, ya but there are few alterations made wherever it was required.

I have done my graduation from Open University and some of my friends have done MBA/MCA from different institues thro' distance mode.

According to my experience :

1. Studying with job is very very hard. Because U wont be able to spend that much time. So always choose a course in which there is no assignment submition or assignments are of objective type only and online submission would be the best. Because subjective questions consumes sooo much time.

2. Exams must also be objective so that you can focus on fundamentals rather than trying to mug-up the long answers. And it's difficult to remember long long theories so the chances getting failed will increase.

3. Course must be flexible i.e. you can deside to sit in some papers in next term also. But then you will need to ask for the fresh set of assignments. Now these assignments (and all other forms also) must be available online. Otherwise in IGNOU I need to send a Registered Post to DELHI office to send assignments and that also come just one week before the last date.

4. And the course coverage should be broder rather then deeper because taking you too much in the deep would only leave you searching for reference books and expert's advises. On the other hand broader coverage would ensure that you have something to speak on every aspect of management as one's goal in distance learning is not to gain the mastery but to gain a degree to add the value to the resume !!!

Now the options available are :
IGNOU (the world's largest open MBA prog. Lowest Fees but dont join because the system if tooo careless & burocratice )
NMIMS (the most reputed .... but subjective assignments plus subjective exams)
SYMBIOSIS (most reputed after NMIMS ... and both assignments & exams are online & objective ... only in 2-3 subjects they have subjective assignments but exams are totally objective )
Wellingker (I dont know anything about it .... so no comments )
AMITY (Bad reputation)
IMT (totally e-learning MBA ... but entrance test is there )
ICFAI (too costly ..... otherwise very very good)

Now another point is recognision ( it comes in picture only if one needs to go for further studies in future ) according to the reply of my mail AICTE has said that NMIMS & SYMBIOSIS are not offering AICTE approved course !!! I didnt asked about Wellingker !!! IGNOU is approved .... AMITY has lost the approval now and ICFAI is a multi-state university so doesnt need AICTE's approval but his recognision is in danger.

So decide your criteria and personally visit the centre's of these institutes and specifically ask about assignments and exams.

If U wish to go for a distance learning MBA degree. Then there are only two options, eighter you can go for IGNOU or for ICFAI. Other than that , every other university or college are giving a diploma certificate.
IMT and Fore are giving there own certificate, the value of which is slowly decreasing in the corporate.
Sikim Manipal and Symbiosis are giving only a diploma certificate, the curriculum of which is not even updated according to the industry norms.

The Best option would be to for IGNOU or from ICFAI, as they give a valid MBA Degree.

UBS University 18 is a fantastic start-up (2009 September). It is well structured and some professors are from reputde institutes including IIMs. I would say it is indeed worth going for it. the UBS team is excelllent and offers the students full support. The course is entirely taught on internet. The final exams are paper/pen exams though. Overall UBS university18 is a fantastic effort. The course comes from the same guys who are running distance mba for IIMK -MSL.

I've been considering an Online MBA, and came across an offering from the Karnataka State Open University, by a partner called UBS (Distance Learning MBA Correspondence MBA Ubs.edu.in) . The website looks all right, and course content seems fine too.. actually, a bit too rigorous. The fees for their 1 year mba is quite affordable as well...Since the degree is from KSOU, my question is, is it advisable to go in for a Government degree? or is a private university more reputed?

It gives me immense pleasure while writing to you. However, the issue I want to raise and sensitize the readers of this letter stands as a concern to me. It gives me immense happiness to see a full class room with the 100% strength in the very first group of the MBA course, where I teach the subject of Managerial Effectiveness (Business Communication). However, I observe that the strength falls significantly as the batch proceeds to the subsequent groups. If I can share a my observation of the batch patters:

Out of the 100% strength,
More than 70% make it to Group B
Less than 50% make it to Group C
Less than 30% make it to Group D
Less than 5% are left in Group E

Group F onwards, my students become invisible, inaccessible and unapproachable to me. As a result I don't know how many students have completed the course, how many are still pursuing it and how many have dropped out. And as I gather the information once in a while, I understand, unfortunately most of the students opt-out/drop out of the course.
The reasons, one could attribute to the drop-outs are the following:

1) Lack of planning towards course-completion by the student.
2) Lack of understanding of the pattern of and the intent behind the question paper.
3) Lack of adequate preparation towards the subjects to be appeared.
4) Lack of awareness of the subjects.
5) Lack of knack to attempt the question paper (multiple choice questions).
6) Lack of an effective coach who could guide the pupils through the hassles, towards the Finish.

I am working witha bank.
I've been adjunct faculty with Icfai's Distance MBA program for the past 7 years.

I taught subjects like Managerial effectiveness, Organizational behavior, Human Resource Management, Leadership, Marketing Management etc. I 've been understanding the course structure of Icfai very closely and let me assure that no other institute deals with the subjects as deeply as Icfai does. I see quite many negative posts in the discussions. Lemme tell you that the strike rate /pass percentage of Icfai distance MBA is very low, as a result of multitude of factors. Lack of seriousness amongst students being prime. Hence the negative outburst is because of the frustration of not being able to clear the course.

Icfai, curriculum wise and exam pattern wise is uncomparable.

may be while doing d survey regarding d same u will get lot of negative responses from ppl as same happened with me but still i joined and now m happy as dere is nuthing like dat i m unable to understand y ppl r having bad opinion for it may be fees is d reason but do consider it as dey will provide u with regular degree at the cost of distance learning.also nvr go by ppl sain dat u will nt be able to clear its exams as me too is an average student with average academic record but still m able to cumplete my group a while doin job.

You can try for NM if unfortunately nahi mila than u have chance for symbi.. what say.. and its entrance is simpler as compared to NMAT....

I have done my MTA (Equi MBA) in Tourism Admin from Christ COllege, Bangalore.

The pay and the growth prospects to me arent too bright in the tourism industry, so I want to take my long-lost passion for marketing ahead..

I want to do COrrespondence MBA.. And I am looking at Symbi or NMIMS.. The sad part is NM has the entrance.. Is it NMAT the same for full time course or much easier to crack? << Advise on that pls :)

And symbi has no entrance.. so tahts pretty cool..

So NM is taking in now.. And symbi starts forms in April..

Called up Symbiosis, but no one answered.. Guess counsellors were not on Seat..
Called up NMIMS.. For Correspondance.. The forms are out and dates are till 15 Dec.. and entrance is Jan 6, 2008..

A friend of mine said that ICFAI Hyderabad is the best.. But I guess its only for full time MBA right?
Hows ICFAI Flexi MBA as compared ? Would be worth it I suppose ?
I am already an MBA in Tourism.. And looking for MBA in Marketing..
Anyone can suggest something on the same?

Yes ICFAI HYD is best for full time MBA.
Donno Much about the same but Do you want to pursue Fulltime/part time or Correspondence? As in any of this case Flexi MBA is not worth.
From where you pursued MBA in Tourism and are you working somewhere? Also MBA in marketing-- are you looking for Distance Learning/full time/part time.
If you are planning for Distance learning/correspondence.. than i would suggest you can go with NMIMS or Symbiosis.

Called up Symbiosis, but no one answered.. Guess counsellors were not on Seat..

Called up NMIMS.. For Correspondance.. The forms are out and dates are till 15 Dec.. and entrance is Jan 6, 2008..

Hmmm.. They are accredited.. But in what form are you looking at ?

Also, I want to know the deadlines for applications for ICFAI, Symbi or others. is there a website? I have checked on the respective websites (esp Symbiosis).. But as I got the reply before.. I guess it will start only in June.. So i will have to wait till June for applying? ANything else..

im workin in a manufacturin sector industry for the past 5 months... as a design engineer.
i finished B.E(EEE) tis yr wit 87% from PSG college, cbe.
I wanna do a MBA. I wrote cat last yr and tis yr too... last yr got 81 pc... tis yr i ve done worse... expectin very less im strong in DI section alone.
so no hopes for doin MBA in gud cols... :(
so thinkin of doin distance mba or part time!! most part time asks for min 2 yrs exp. i cannot wait till 2 yrs... i stay in chennai.
so can u ppl pls suggest me a gud accredited distance mba or any other option??
can u prioritise BIM, Symbiosis, ICFAI distance mba?? r they accredited??
mba s to get a job in management atmosphere and ofcourse add to my degree
