Hello PGians...
I will be graduating in july this year and I have an offer from infosys but i have got my joining date in February 2013 which is very late and I dont want to waste time sitting idle all this while.
Meanwhile I got an offer to work in the marketing department of a company that my seniors recently started and the profile is good and challenging. Marketing is what I have always aspired to do.
But my dilemma is that , when I go ahead with my plan for an MBA and if i get a call from a good b school.( IIMs and other Top b schools)...will the fact that I worked in a start up hamper my chances in getting admission as compared to people who would have worked in a well known and well established company?.......
The job profile in a "well known and well established" company is more or less similar and learning is not that great. Most of the MBA applicants come from the same IT pool and hence you will be another brick in the wall.
Whereas, if you are working for a startup, you get to get your hands dirty, learn things hands on and carry lot more responsibility. This way, you may have an interesting story to share with the panel and might stand out.
P.S. If you are doing things to please others, you may do a OK job at it, but never a great job. When you are doing things which make you feel happy, you will find out ways to be great.
Cheers,
Rohit
I am not an MBA, hence; I have to use my brains.
