Rishabh Bhai ,I am 23 years old,would turn 24 later in this year..
I don't have a girlfriend(didn't have one ever), I am not that gud a student that I get >95 percentile in CAT.
If I get >70 I'll be more than happy.I'm working with an IT company,in Bangalore,I'm dying to leave this job and got to home in Delhi. I don't know what'll happen in my life ,even If I do MBA that will take 2 years of my life....

Question Remains : Do I deserve to live after this ?

So you have such wonderful caring parents , really nice to hear that but what will happen to them , when you decide to leave this world , who will take care of them , do you want them to be sad for the rest of their lives ?

Dont believe in something before even trying for it , even if you get 80+ percentile in CAT ,you can make it to the top 50 b-schools in the country from 4000 b-schools In India .. isnt that some achievement and with a 70 odd percentile you can make it top 60-70th college .. But just when you feel you can get 70 ,just try harder for an 80 percentile ..

We are all born with problems physical , financial , mental you are not the only guy with such issues but life is also beautiful and full of reasons to smile

I also had an engineering loan , i worked hard in a company for 2.5 years to pay off my loan and then took another 1 to do my MBA .. I gave CAT once , never had the luxury of giving it many times like others .. .. But understand one thing if you are willing to fight everyday , you will one day win the war :)

Regarding breaking commitments , i think if you apologize . i am sure your friends will forgive you .. A simple request for forgiveness is sometimes all is what is needed ..

Well if you dont want to live for yourself , please live for your parents and make them proud .. you are just 23 you have plenty of time to wash away the so called sins and all you need is to try , accept failures , keep trying till success embraces you

I'm the worst looking creature,have hair on top of my palms,on my back just behind my neck....I have blackheads on my nose,where spectacles....n have less hair on my head.....I am so deppressed with life I can't tell you....I feel this human life is a gift,so don't want to die so early ,n that too without a genuine reason.....

I want to become good ,can I now at the age of 23+,when I have broken like 1000 commitments,had 1000 friends broken trust of everyone...just don't want to break trust of my parents now....

I wouldn't mind taking fellowship programme in social welfare, but most of them have an age eligibility criterion of below 25 yrs (i crossed it recently) and also, many of them have their registration closed by April 2012.

Can you suggest anything?

If you are looking for good b-schools with low fees , there are plenty of options

MIB , DSE , MHROD , FMS BHU , Nitie , FMS , Some of the IITs , KJ Somaiya etc

2) Currently , Since you dont have many options , you can actually go back to IT , may be start from Middle tier firm , or try for Lower Middle Tier Firms or join a Non IT Firm in IT Department

3)You can join coaching institutes as a faculty

4)You can also try for UPSC exams such Bank PO which wont take much time to prepare since you have given CAT more than 2 times , You can also join as IT specialist in govt banks


For me i think rather than trying for CAT , get some work ex under your belt and also save for future education etc . And may be after you attain 5-6 years of work-ex go for executive MBA , which should help you build solid career in future

There are plenty of options for you but attaining these options will take some hardwork , some struggle so be ready for that

1. Have you tried talking to the college? Most B schools have tie ups with banks that don't require collateral. Frankly your situation is very difficult now and getting loan for GIM seems your best bet.. Try friends, relatives.. Anything..

2. Pull some strings and get your CV forwarded in as many companies as possible.. Contact some placement agencies.. They are very useful in getting you the best matched jobs..

Let me just briefly point out all the life-threatening problems in your life because of which you want to commit suicide. Fair enough..?
1. Job/Domain Sucks.
2. You have another month to fulfill your contract requirement, so you cannot quit the job at least for another 30 days, but you desperately want to.
3. You are 23 years old.
4. You wanted to do an MBA but missed out on all the form dates.

Ok, now, let me give you solutions to all of these problems, one by one. You can kill yourself after reading this.
1. Your job sucks..? You know I have done hotel management. Sounds exotic and fancy to all my engineer friends but my first job after graduating from college was to clean, wipe, mop and dry toilets. Everyday, for almost half a year, my job was to report to duty at 11 P.M. (thats not a typo, I actually mean 11 in the night), ask my lazy-ass supervisor how many rooms were vacant (I could not be going around cleaning shit-stained toilets in occupied rooms because the guests would be disturbed) and then start going up and down all over the 30 storied hotel tower cleaning toilets and then dream to go back home on time (only and only if the supervisor was satisfied by the shine of the toilets) at around 11 A.M. (again, not a typo; we had 12 hour shifts). I am not exaggerating.
2. You cannot quit your job for another month..? Stick it out for a month dude. Rob a few things from the office (like me), maybe a mouse, a CD writer, an LCD, something, anything. Get out of the office and break it apart if you want to. But get out of there with the satisfaction that you are causing some damage to them.
3. I am 23 years old too. And..? How is that the end of the world..?
4. You missed out on all the form dates..? Ok. We are on the end of May right now. Lets say you decide you want to seriously start working towards the MBA.
* You first quit your job and serve the notice period (considering you were anyway willing to quit this year for the MBA) by the start of June.
* You start researching on coaching class details (http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/prep-resources/67146-2011-2012-cat-coaching-classes.html) and finally decide which one best suits you.
* You get in touch with them, decide which entrance exams you are going to aim and start preparing for it by mid-June.
* The first month of your preparation would be confusing but the ball will start rolling soon. The CAT window will open in the month of October. Then you would have the NMAT window in November. Then you would have the SNAP in December. After that, would come the CMAT, in the month of February. Moreover, the level of difficulty (as of the 2012 pattern) would reduce as you move forward with these exams; CAT - NMAT - SNAP - CMAT.
* Once you are done with all your written tests, the Group Discussion and Personal Interviews would start and go about in the same order as your written tests. And to be safe, you simultaneously apply to PGDM courses of all the colleges that you are interested in.

Nothing in this world is worth taking your life for. Your mother carried you around for 9 months and brought you into this world with a lot of pain and care. You are here today, with the best of education in your past and a bundle of opportunities in the future only because of your parents. Even if you are short of friends, you have people like me and so many others who are willing to help you without even having seen your face. Your life is not yours to take. It is Gods; let the Big Guy decide what and when to do with you.

After that i left the job as it brought a hell of dissatisfaction from the beginning. Yet, I persisted and carried on. But I reached my breaking point in the year 2010 and resigned from it. I decided to prepare for MBA entrance exams. Applied for almost all the good bschools which are ranked top 50. Meanwhile I worked for an NGO(newly started) which contributes to the welfare of women,children and deprived individuals.

I converted only one (GIM) and couldn't join it as I didn't get loan from any bank due to insufficient security/collateral (yes i tried credila but in vain).

Now I am in a fix as I have an employment gap of 1.5 yrs and I want to join back the job purely for financial goal(I still resent working in it). And it's getting difficult to get a job due to employment gap.

Dude, come on.. stop whining like a little girl and claiming that everything is over for you.. Seriously, you at least have a job.. Instead of working hard and achieving your dreams you are thinking rubbish.. Snap out of it.. Talk to a friend.. If he is a good friend he will shake you out of your slumber..

Evaluate your opportunity cost.. If you really can't handle the job then just leave.. you can't uproot bridges by getting a 1 year work ex certificate.. Find a new job or just sit and slog it out but do proper evaluation.. there are loads of people out there who would want to be in your position anyday.. If you think you deserve better than what you are now, then just go get it.. No one in this world can stop you.. Stop blaming others and circumstances for your under achievement till date..

allright man..even before I reply to you..let me tell you I am myself 23..soon going to be 24 in JUNE..plus I got an IT job too a few months back..but thanks to the involvement with CAT & my hatred for all technical things I never joined it..also I screwed my CAT..finally had to join my dad..which i never wanted but as didnt have a job..so thought better than to sit at home doing nothing..so you make your choice if you want to read my reply or not..

Scene1: I started working in this gr8 "brand" IT company 6 months back. Got into this high profile BFSI project from an US based Banking client. Wow, I was excited.

3 days later is salary day!!! A sincere guy in team with 2.5 yrs of work-ex is getting Rs. 4.77LPA. Bang!!!!

Now I am wondering, what am I doing!!!

Kill me but 3yrs down the lane I dont want to cut on my neccessities.

Scene2: One of the hardworking good friend gets 35%ile in CAT'12. He almost swallowed all the material and never scored less than 90%ile in mock tests.
Now, I start not to believe in CAT. (call me mad )

Scene3: I wont take previlage to be a passout from Aira Gaira Natthu Gaira Management College. I want to be in India's Top 20.

Scene4: To be out of the crowd, I am open to appear in GMAT.

I can give 8-10 on weekends and another 10 on weekdays to prepare.

But but but, I lack that motivation. I dont have any group. I am wasting days by just reading news/articles on TOI website.

I would surely visit the threads mate...I know it would be of great help. However, I am confused about what to do in these months, as I have dropped the idea of GATE. I mean, what better option do I have than to join Accenture.

Not that I dont want to join Accenture. I love my placement, as its the best in my university and a perfectly fitting profile. But I am just wondering that I cannot be satisfied here. What could be better option than this, considering my inclination towards geopolitics, international business, etc. Doing an MBA would be good, but then, no work ex............so Im pretty confused. Done my Petroleum engineering + MBA(oil and gas amanagement) Dual degree....however feels like i am not satisfied with the MBA.

Got placed in Accenture at a decent post. Joining would be of AUGUST... so have approx 3 months time....

Avid interest in geopolitics, international business..not inclined towards technical side, but more towards commercial aspects, markets, IB (alrdy said), etc...Have a good English (Reading, writing and speaking)

Orthopedically handicapped, (it hasnt been a hurdle anywhere though), DAD is a govt servant and at a high post...he suggested me to JOIN ONGC, IOC etc... for JOB SECURITY...and for that I had to prepare for GATE. I also was ready but I lost interest 2 days back suddenly, knowing that Accenture is NOT A PHYSICALLY demanding job..and the growth is good. So I don't wish to prepare for GATE anymore.

But i REALLY WANT TO UTILISE THIS TIME FOR SOMETHING MORE. Please throw some light and suggest....

Done my Petroleum engineering + MBA(oil and gas amanagement) Dual degree....however feels like i am not satisfied with the MBA.

Got placed in Accenture at a decent post. Joining would be of AUGUST... so have approx 3 months time....

Avid interest in geopolitics, international business..not inclined towards technical side, but more towards commercial aspects, markets, IB (alrdy said), etc...Have a good English (Reading, writing and speaking)

Orthopedically handicapped, (it hasnt been a hurdle anywhere though), DAD is a govt servant and at a high post...he suggested me to JOIN ONGC, IOC etc... for JOB SECURITY...and for that I had to prepare for GATE. I also was ready but I lost interest 2 days back suddenly, knowing that Accenture is NOT A PHYSICALLY demanding job..and the growth is good. So I don't wish to prepare for GATE anymore.

But i REALLY WANT TO UTILISE THIS TIME FOR SOMETHING MORE. Please throw some light and suggest....

i would suggest you to go for XL.Yaar many people sell their home to pay the fee for such colleges.U are getting the opportunity. Just grab it. XL abhi join kar loge to after 2 years u'l be the boss of the guy working in SBI at ur position if u join SBI now. Aur yaar don't see 13.5 lakhs as the fee, think of it as an investment in ur business(Your Mind). Sit in your room alone and silent and think with a clean mind that what do u want from your life NOW and 2 years later. I bet u'l not come to this thread again!!!

.....my not so good fairy tale like @uking description started way back in 2009.Passed my B.E in 2009,but had some supplementry subjects to be cleared:which meant i was not able to join masters at that time.i had a big dream of joining A good MBA college.Got placed in a medium sized Core company as sales engineer but never joined due to some Bond issues.i waited till august 2010 when i joined a kind of BPO with my gf.i was wandering here and there for some pass time courses but joined none .my gf joined that BPO so she forced me to join her there along with her.i joined happily.but jus working for 3 months she got bored there but i was enjoying working there....anyways she forced me to quit that job so we both did.Again idle for few months.she joined a good college in mumbai in 2011 where i was noteligible bcoz of my supple exams.In 2011 she started seeing her senior-her mentor as well and i was here in delhi,frying with time to struggle pass my B.E exams and worrying for my admissionGD/PI coz of her blow.At last i cleared my B.E last year only.meanwhile i got a call for M.tech from a mumbai college but my gf denied me for moving there(obviously she wanted to have fun there with him).Somehow i came to know about her and i was heat-broken.i stopped all contacts then and focussed for MBA.gave MAT and now i have got call from few colleges in delhi and bangalore itself.also having being selected in AUD delhi MBA.waiting for IP result on 8th may.though i have moved on but i still have painful feelings of wasting my 1 year coz of her.
Also i am positive about being selected in DMRC as well so waiting for some relieving time soon.:grin: .My experience has taught me many truths of life and i want to share all of them with you:
1-Never compromise your career for any other(Specially a girl/parents also says so).
2-It is never too late to start your dream to realization.
3-No matter how good looking or smart you are(I can say i am not less than any goodlooking fellow on screen) ,gfs can find a better one always
4-Hard work always pays.

During last 3 year i have sat idle for 1 year straight(besides i did some really good motobike tours),had a BPO job,Had a Breakup after 4 years serious relationship,yeah also skipped Jamia MBA offer,Bharti vidyapeeth,M.tech as well just for a galz sake n desire , I sat helpless in almost every arena of my life during last few months,but now i can see i have not best but some fairly good opportunities with me.All you puys n guys be brave and you have the power to excel anytime.
These are tested by me and believe me puys all above are true.

Scene1: I started working in this gr8 "brand" IT company 6 months back. Got into this high profile BFSI project from an US based Banking client. Wow, I was excited.

3 days later is salary day!!! A sincere guy in team with 2.5 yrs of work-ex is getting Rs. 4.77LPA. Bang!!!!

Now I am wondering, what am I doing!!!

Kill me but 3yrs down the lane I dont want to cut on my neccessities.

Scene2: One of the hardworking good friend gets 35%ile in CAT'12. He almost swallowed all the material and never scored less than 90%ile in mock tests.
Now, I start not to believe in CAT. (call me mad )

Scene3: I wont take previlage to be a passout from Aira Gaira Natthu Gaira Management College. I want to be in India's Top 20.

Scene4: To be out of the crowd, I am open to appear in GMAT.

I can give 8-10 on weekends and another 10 on weekdays to prepare.

But but but, I lack that motivation. I dont have any group. I am wasting days by just reading news/articles on TOI website.

First of all would recommend try for job in relevant area of ur education such as biotech , if you cant manage then u can try for jobs in marketing or sales , other option can be coaching institutes it will complement ur preparation or even try for internships or relevant certifications such as in finance etc ..

Regarding one year MBA or two year MBA , typically one year MBA is more suited to person having higher work ex and relevant industry knowledge else wise two year full time MBA is better for lesser experienced candidates or freshers

Start from today buddy , forget what has happened ..

You have plenty of time to study for CAT/GMAT .. So start your preparation as soon as possible .. But to get through a good college in India 2 years gap assuming by next may you have a 2 years gap could be a negative so you have to defend it well. Else you can try for a job and continue with your preparation so that at-least you will have a back up to try again ..

Dont worry things will only improve from here , keep trying and have that self belief that you will keep trying no matter what :)

i always dreamt of doing big..service for mankind so here is how i started :

12th- 2005 then thot of PREMEDICAL test.aapeared in cbse jharkhand pmt bhu pmt bihar pmt.cleared few screenings but failed in mains.
2006-aapeared again...clread screenings failed in mains..this time i fell sick so decided to join btech biotechnology...also i was weak in maths..so didnt pursue other branches.
2006 july- joine icfai dehradun branch- biotechnology
2010 july-passed out with no job ..cud hv gor rs 5000 job in pharma companies..
ALSO learned sap abap then applied to cognizant tata steel etc....cleared none..waited for some more jobs..but none came my way
july 2011- finally decided to do MBA as it would be best for my sinking career...joined career launcher...but my cl scores wer disaster...before cat last three scores were 7/180...

1) Which college should i join? My heart is with Nitie (because of Brand name , huge alumni base and cool campus life [IMG]http://www.pagalguy.net/pagalguy/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif[/IMG]) but my mind suggesting SJMSOM (because of IIT brand, Small batch size (i have very ordinary profile [IMG]http://www.pagalguy.net/pagalguy/smilies/icon_neutral.gif[/IMG] ) and good infra).

Talk to people in both the colleges, see the present position of their alums in Supply Chain/Operations industry in major companies and then decide.

Nothing is more trustworthy proof to decide a college than current position of its alums in major companies that recruit for the profile you wish to go for. Rest, everything related to college is temporary indicator.

Yes, despite being from CS branch you can get into SCM/Ops profiles from both these colleges. Need not worry for that :thumbsup:

Also, you can switch back to IT Consulting after working for sometime in SCM industry if you wish to.

@haripsgvj - U got to remember that u have a -ve in ur resume compared to others. Hence its a must to get a job first...get some decent job if not in IT then something else in order to erase the gap thing...simultaneously prepare for CAT and other exams..now that u have exp of taking CAT..take exams and apply to all major Institutes (i guess there will be only 1 exam next yr onwards)..
Regarding the NGO thing..not many NGOs are good..and NGO exp is not considered good..Joining an IT job would help u in remaining in ur field in case u do not succeed in ur MBA quest

Well i have completed my BMS recently...I have a job with an audit firm (not any of the big four, bt no. 6 or 7). I have also converted NMIMS Core and am well in contention for JBIMS this year. But i am not sure whether i should do a MBA now. I am only 21. Any advice??

i also didnt mean to compare.only shared my experience.maybe experience wise we are on the brighter side.I have learnt hardcore sales technique which i bet no bschool can teach. i had recently attended gd/pi @ christ college blore. there i was told i am overqualified.christ looks for people with max 2 years of experience.I had no such problem at gd/pi of NMIMS bore and KJ soumiya and both i have converted.but will be joining NMIMS blore.

then i got into another company2010-2011 same profile,left after 1 year,Then 2011-2012 i joined a dealer of krloskar pentair pumps. i enjoyed complete freedom made my own sales and marketing plans.boosted sales like anything then in the mid 2011, i realized everyone is highly paid and my salary was meager compared to others of my age & experience.as i never bargained on salary during interviews i looked mainly (only) into the profile

forgot to add one thing for me it was not samosa,it was chicken chicken curry, chicken fry,as samosa is not so easily available in kerala.And yes i enjoyed my journeys a lot. full of greenery and nice small independent homes.farmers where glad to get there tractor loans passed.rice and wheat dealers where always grateful to me as i arranged them loans to get big Al22,tata33 tonnes trucks loans passed. customers do call in to enquire how am i doing.always had afternoon lunch at customers house, rice, sambar ,fish curry ,chicken

Now the kahani begins....I have done B.tech thousands yrs ago in 2006, after that, i worked in a bpo for few months to earn my livelihood, and as I m an ENGINEER , then i looked for some technical job, suddenly i got chance in telecom in RF Engineer(the worst ever job in history of jobs)...as an Rf Engr I got chance to travel (approx. 200 km daily) the beautiful villages of our country without having brkfast or lunch..(just all day on samosa, biscuit etc), then I got a chance to travel gulf country on a telecom project ....then i felt I got settled....but picture abhi baaki hai....there i have to climb towers, climb on highly steeped mountain....in 45-50 degree temp.....(it suckx)....any how i maintain around a year...there coz the perk was quite ok....as of indian companies...

After 1 yr..I know that I am not settled, the project was over and i was released from the company........then i came back to india..and got again a job in telecom comp...again..travelling ..and seeing beautiful villages...on samosa..started...after 6 months I came to know that project was over and i m released.....hmmmm...
Then I wake up from a long sleep and it is 2011....( 5 yrs )
After tht I started preparing for bank PO jobs and SSC CGL...and It is around 1 yr..I m sitting idle and learning class 10 maths...and doing addition, subt, multi, division...

I am a B.tech in ECE who completed her course in 2010 but had arrears at the time of completion.I cleared them in 2011 with a CGPA of 6.21.I am a CAT aspirant but seeing my current situation of unemployment,I am in a dilemma whether to do a course in Networking or go ahead with CAT 2012 preps.My programming skills are not good.In any good B school,work experience matters.I am a girl and have certain constraints in moving out of my place.My academic record has not been good since 10th std.Even in 12th,I got 61% only.But I aspire to be a part of those 20 top B skools of India.I am ambitious but need career guidance to reach the heights I want to.My two years are already gone but the urge to to be better and on top stays on my mind.I cant afford a coaching institute now and I have to start from scratch for CAT.Also,I have a confusion whether ladies have growth in Networking.Which institute should I join in kerala for this course?If I go for CAT,will I be able to get into the top 20 B schools(Seeing my academic track record)Kindly advice.

Now the kahani begins....I have done B.tech thousands yrs ago in 2006, after that, i worked in a bpo for few months to earn my livelihood, and as I m an ENGINEER , then i looked for some technical job, suddenly i got chance in telecom in RF Engineer(the worst ever job in history of jobs)...as an Rf Engr I got chance to travel (approx. 200 km daily) the beautiful villages of our country without having brkfast or lunch..(just all day on samosa, biscuit etc), then I got a chance to travel gulf country on a telecom project ....then i felt I got settled....but picture abhi baaki hai....there i have to climb towers, climb on highly steeped mountain....in 45-50 degree temp.....(it suckx)....any how i maintain around a year...there coz the perk was quite ok....as of indian companies...

After 1 yr..I know that I am not settled, the project was over and i was released from the company........then i came back to india..and got again a job in telecom comp...again..travelling ..and seeing beautiful villages...on samosa..started...after 6 months I came to know that project was over and i m released.....hmmmm...
Then I wake up from a long sleep and it is 2011....( 5 yrs )
After tht I started preparing for bank PO jobs and SSC CGL...and It is around 1 yr..I m sitting idle and learning class 10 maths...and doing addition, subt, multi, division...

Hope u like this story...but let me assure you this is a true story...and if anyone want to make a movie on that ...he/she have to pay the royalty to me....:biggrin:

Please help me to do something very meaningful wich cud hlp me to get a job non-technical company as well. I am currently stding at nit, 3rd year. But i am least interested in joining core branch. Anyone here who can gimme a deep insight of IT cos like tcs,infy,wipro in terms of growth rate for non-cs and non-ece branch.
Also i am interestd to pursue mba in the field of marketing but only after job-ex. So if u cud let me know some courses or anything as such cfa in the field of marketing wich can show my interest towards marketin? Kindly suggest.

First and foremost, go to the IT sector as a last resort. Since you arre interested in mktg, u can try and look at some prr/media/advertisiing companies for profiles that would suit you. And CFA is a certification specifically for finance, so NA for mktg.
