I have completed B.E(CSE) , but I am interested in finance. Is there any way in which I can get a job in stock brokerage firm ?

I have 2 years of work ex as software developer, bt last year in feb i left my job to pursue CAT. i scored 97.05 percentile n got calls for interview from some gud management colleges bt unfortunately i couldnt convert any of them ( still trying to find out the reasons for such a dismal performance).

Portfolio Details:

XI : 80.13
XII : 66.00
Bsc(IT) : 74.68
CAT : 97.05

Extra Curriculum : Nil

After all of this is over, now i am looking for a job.i have got a job in IT sector with my current work experience(not joining) bt i am looking for some job in marketing / business development sector(since i have inclination towards marketing),

Now my questions:
1. will the gap of 1 year in my profession will matter during my mba selection?
2. how is it going to be to get a job in different industry after 2 yrs of work ex in IT sector?
3. any career suggestion from ur side will be really appreciated
4. Any help in getting job is really appreciated

the following is my friend's profile:-X: 86.13%XII:80.33%Grad Extc Engg: 64.00% (Due to a kt in 7sem and the only kt earned a Pass Class) Graduated 2012Since he was not interested in IT, stayed at home to prepare for CAT but got mere 82 percentile but at the same time was working as a private tutor.He is depressed wishes to give CAT again, but 1 more year of private tutor job will prove a problem, right ?During interview and summer placements he will be considerd as jobless for 2 years. Please need some advice, he is in real mess !!!!!!!!

If he manages to score above 99+ next year, the private tutoring job shouldn't be a big problem but still to be on the safer side, he can look for a better job and prepare harder for CAT next year !!!

hi guys !!! i graduated in 2012 and took an year break to prepare for cat but got dismal scores. should i take another year break to prepare for cat i don't have a job right now. i have converted insurance business management at bimtech. should i take up the call or should i take a break for another year and prepare for cat........need an advice !!!

If you want to take CAT next yr, you should join a company very soon...Being jobless for more than one year is not preferred by top B schools. If you think, you deserve a better B school, look for a job and take CAT next year. If you are content with bimtech, you can very well join. Its up to you to make a good decision...

1)how much weightage will being an officer on probation in SBI carry??the training goes on for 2 years so will i have any real work ex which i can show in b school PI's as proof of my dedication??or shall i have to wait till the probation period of two years gets over and i start working as an officer for usable work ex?

2)even if i crack sbi,i'd hv 2 wait till october to join.so if i want to give this year's exams,will it be prudent to join a ngo to hv som sort of work ex??i was assisting in my family firm after grads while waiting fr joining f wipro to come and went 2 XL,XIMB,SIBM,SCMHRD,TISS,IMT,IIFT wit dat work ex but cudnt convert any f dem(after superb GD-PI's in SIBM,SCMHRD,XIMB and XL-BM)..srsly der wsnt much to tell of the role in my firm as we only sell plots of land and i'd 2 deal wit brokers,customers and govt ppl only in my role.i'd left wipro joining as i thot i'd convert 1 f these or wud rather join a bank.i'm sure if i join a ngo via my contacts den i cn ask dem to gv me a work ex certi 4m last yr,ryt after my grads

I am 2012 BE(E&TC;) passout and took a drop to prepare for MBA entrance exams but couldn't make it to top 20-25..Now I am looking for a job and will chase Mba once again after a year or two..Interested in marketing..

My question is what kind of job should I look for ?I am finding it a bit difficult to get into engineering sector..What if I look for a job in sales and marketing sector..as it is a bit easier..If yes what kind of job profile,companies should I look for?Please enlighten me on this.

Any source ,link and job board especially related to marketing are welcome..

I am pursuing BBA from Lucknow University final semester, gave CAT 2012 this but the result was not good , want to have another go at CAT 2013 but I do not know what will I do in this one year gap.... any suggestions???

Use this time and work hard to score as high as possible in CAT 2013. You can think about how to justify the Gap once you get GD/PI Calls.

Or Else, if you can manage preparation along with a Job, search for any job which can fulfill your Basic Pocket Money Needs and continue preparing for MBA Exams.. !!

BPO Experience is def counted and entertained.

There is nothing disadvantage as such. You might be asked about the specific work that you were doing. And how you managed the Negative Sides of a BPO Job.

Hard work of 3 years or 2 years in the business will make you a different person altogether. CA seems to be a better option according to me .
