Hi All,
Is Distance Learning MBA in IT a good option from Welingkar?
Does distance learning have good market value for people with work experience?
In my opinion, No.
It would add value only if your organization just needs a MBA degree under your name for internal promotions. However, in terms of knowledge i dont find it to be a good value addition to people with work experience. ( PS: This is just my opinion on distance learning MBA in IT )
Hi,
I have a query regarding distance education. My friend completed her PGDBM from Symbiosis University via distance learning. Now she needs an equivalency stating it is equivalent to an MBA. Can anyone guide us regarding this and how to get it?
Please try contacting SIU people, they could help you in this regard.
2) From what I know right now, I would prefer a part time course as I would like to continue with my job and that means Executive MBAs are out. (unless there are part time executive MBAs?)
What are my options?
Hi
In addition to IIM-C course that you have mentioned, you can check out similar courses for part time MBA on sites of following colleges:
1. Symbiosis International University
2. Punjab University
3. FMS Delhi ( weekend classes )
4. DMS- IIT Delhi
5. XLRI / IIFT ( through video conferencing )
Hi
Can u plz help me with following information:
1) Other options for Correspondence MBA
2) Any executive/Part time MBA which satisfy my constraints
3) Any other better option which you can suggest me ?
Hi
Suggest to try for Part Time MBA offered by FMS, Delhi above all other options for correspondence MBA. FMS Delhi needs one to attend classes only on weekends.
Second option for part time MBA through weekend classes is Punjab University.
For correspondence MBA, you can also go for Manipal University, IGNOU etc. but again SIU is the best option among these.
Hope this helps!

Hey Folks,
What is the market value of these courses in Bangalore? Will they add value with respect to job opportunities?
Whether to go for Executive MBA from top colleges or regular MBA from other B-Schools mentioned by you depends on your career goals.
If you want a switch in industry then regular MBA would help you more and if you want to continue in your current industry, then Executive MBA from top colleges is a decent option to go for.
As far as market value is concerned, it is there but the importance given to distance/correspondence MBA varies from company to company and not city wise.
They would definitely add job opportunities though but to a limited extent.
Hi Guys,
Does it holds any kind of value in market ? How good will it be for the career growth ? Will it be easier for me to transition from IT to HR and maintaining the same kind of position with the company ?
Hi
With the amount of work ex you have in IT, i am afraid that distance MBA in HR wont add much value in terms of enabling you to switch to a position in HR domain that is almost parallel to your current in IT domain. However it might help you in transition to HR but it also depends on your company policies. Major reason being as far as i know leading IT companies prefer to have regular MBAs in HR dept. as well , though you might find distance MBA people as well but not immediately at higher positions.
