Holy shi1t! You hope these are the cutoffs?:neutral: Do you have any prior experience of such exams? I just made a walk-in without any preparations whatsoever, so may be that's why I think so. But still, such cutoffs dont sound realistic to me considering there was negative marking as well.

My take on cut-offs:

Reasoning ~ 17-20
Quant ~ 15-18
English ~ 22-25
GK - shouldnt be more than 10.:neutral:

An overall score of 95-105(including score of subjective) should be competitive in an exam like this. Sorry, I have no prior experience of such exam. This is just what I feel from my past experiences with other exams.

Hope all of u may have done well in the exam on 26th. reasoning and quanta sections was of average difficulty level.English section was easy but wat abt GK section i think it was a bit tough it really needs a very deep and deatiled knowledge specially economical issues, policies, budget.

diviarora, you have answered your query yourselves. That stands true for public sector banks; for private banks, you can always check the ad for eligibility criteria when you apply.

There are books and old papers available in the market easily. Its pattern doesnt vary as frequently as CAT. So, get hold of something to see what the pattern would be like. All the best.

The descriptive paper in P.O exam is allotted 45mins. Or max. 60mins.
You may be given 4-5 topics without any choice and cover these in the allotted time. You are required to write on every topic and it may range from current affairs to even abstract topics. There are some essays where you need to express your views for and against the topic.
For ex:
1) Present Day ills of Society can be attributed to the democratic system of government in India.
2) Adult Franchise Age alone as criteria for the right to vote is not correct. Education also should be a criterion.
3) Degrees should be delinked from jobs.
4) Is Indias decision to go nuclear correct?

Not only are you expected to mention Whats but also Whys and Hows. Here are some examples:
1) Reservations Caste alone should not be the criteria What is your opinion on the subject? Give reasons in support of your opinion.
2) Menace of Black Money is a bane of our economy- Suggest remedial measures to curb Money.
3) Suggest effective measures to rejuvenate Panchayat Raj institutions in the country.

You are expected to put forth your views in not more than 4-5 points on every topic. This explains how concisely and clearly the topic is to be presented. After the objective paper is done you are handed the descriptive paper. Its not inclusive of those 2hrs 15mins. time frame.

Practice- Aptitude From Any Good Book.

Extensive Reading Allows You To Relax On English PART. No Extra Practice For EnglisH IS REQUIRED. Good Luck.

Even I havent received it yet. Wait till there is 1 week left for the exam and if you still dont receive it, contact your Local Head Office(do confirm from the instruction booklet as to whom you have to contact)

hey there are books available in the markets claimin about model papers but i'm not sure about the reliablility of these. neway i'm also searchin 4 sbi papers if u found any then plzz tell me

dunno about the other cities but in Mumbai you get the forms at and around all the railway stations. its hardly costs a few bucks.

there r lots of prep books available for bank POs in any standard book shop. I thnk there is one from Agarwal which is pretty decent. Am sure u will get ur hands on one in Cochin also.
Just tell the bookstore that u want model test papers or prep book for bank PO.
