I'm keen to go for PRMIA exams but i've certain doubts . Please take time out to clarify these

1. Completion of all four exams would make one PRMIA certificate holder?...Is there any work-ex requirement like that in FRM?...Do we get a physical certificate mailed to us?...how much time does it take after passage of exams to receive the certificate?...declaration of exam results occur in 15 days?

2. does handbuk available for download sufficient for preparation?...If not wat all material does one need?schweser/kaplan?

3. does the syllabus changes periodically?....would beginning for prep now n by the time i give exams if syllabus changes would i be asked question based on new syllabus?

4. i need to complete the four exams in 2 year's timeframe?...if not then i'll have to begin afresh?

1. yes u beocme a prm after completing all the exams, no work ex required. afaik it should take 15 days to get ur result, i dont know how much time it takes for the hard copy

2. i dont think there is any other material other than the handbook. u can enroll for pristine tests though

3. i dont think syllabus changes every few months, it lats changed this yr march afaik, if u buy the official prm handbook, u will get the updates if syllabus is changed

4. not sure about the last q. better ask the helpline

Hey does anybody know how to get hold of the PRM handbook other than buying it from PRMIA because thats a very costly option?

1)You have to pay for the study material. It will be available to you online(the link is available on PRMIA website). No hard copy of PRM handbook is available.Even if you get a hardcopy , it is bound to be the old syllabus. The syllabus changed for Exam III since March 2010. Exam IV is case study based,the cases are available on PRMIA website.
2) PRM is gaining popularity and a lot of ppl are taking it up nowadays. In fact I did search for risk managemnt jobs in various sites, and wherever I saw it was "FRM/PRM" ...Just goes to show the growing clout of PRM...Moreover the networking you get with your local chapters is also an added advantage..But at present, FRM is ruling the roost in India...However with Basel II implementations becoming the need of the day for banks,PRM is bound to be in demand..But one thing dude, PRM/FRM etc..are ONLY SECOND TO CFA.(though the bounds are different , i.e CFA is investment related and FRM/PRM risk management related)..

hey i have a few qs regarding prmia
1) from where do u study for it? do they provide some material like cfa on registration? if not, do we have schweser type material fro prm?

2) is it worth giving? does it have any value in india?

Hey friends i have completed my MBA (PG) & appearing for FRM.
M looking forward to wrk in Risk mgmt.
I have few questions ......
1) In case of FRM if u clear d exam u gt certificate only after showing experience of 2 years, is there any such thing for PRM too??
2) Do we need any higher qualification to appear for PRM?? ( I mean do we need any higher degree like FRM or CFA to appear for PRM)
3) PRM is simpler to FRM??

Yes I am totally agree. Actually I am planning for PRM. But I am confused that whether PRM is well known or not like FRM is well known.

1) lots of centres in india. In fact atleast 10 in delhi alone

2) no restriction on PRM

3) Not much useful if u're interested in Ibanking front office

4) Very useful if u want to go into risk mgmt/middle office

5) NONE of the recruiters at my b school knew wat was PRM abt

6) FRM is a bit more recognised

7) Have taken only exams 1 & 2 so can only tell u abt them - easy

exam 3 seems tough

9) NOT a subsitute for CFA

How thorough do we need to be with complex formula's in the PRM handbook for exam 2. Like Lognormal distributions, variance in each case etc.

What kind of questions should i expect. I'm going to take exam II soon.
