I cleared the third paper too :). I chose PRM becoz i don't have work ex.....i'm a fresher and FRM requires u to hv 2 yrs work ex.....ie. they will give u the designation only after u give them a proof of ur work ex.......PRM is easier to write...you can write it on any business day of the year and FRM is conducted only twice a year so that creates a big problem in case you didn't finish preparing.....PRM is cheaper and also you don't have to pay them every year like in FRM to use ur designation......FRM has become profit making organisation and that is why they are charging so much.......FRM is purely risk and also if you read the FRM Handbook u will go mad.....its written in a horrible manner.....PRM covers alot of finance in the first paper which is really gud if you aren't a finance student like me......and also the PRM handbook is extremely well written.....u might just need to refer some topics on the net or texts but otherwise you can just read the handbook and practice questions on Riskprep.com n pass your exams.......For a quant analyst position.....as far as i know PRM & CFA should be perfect......I'm planning to CFA level 1 myself this december.....i feel PRM is more user friendly and also well organised and cheaper......dats the why i chose PRM.....The pros for FRM is that it is very well recognised......about 10 years back.....ICICI Bank had made it compulsory for all its Treasury Department people to clear FRM....hence its widely accepted in the Risk Management Industry......Whereas PRM is not so known.....especially in India its not so widely known......so in terms of Job perspective....you can say that FRM has an edge.....but in terms of learning and everything else I would say PRM has an edge because I have gone thru both their syllabuses and handbooks thoroughly....So its up to you......there are a lot of sites where people have given opinions on FRM vs PRM......so you can read them and make a decision......

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to inform everyone that PRMIA has increased its registration fees for Low Income Countries from $50 to $150. This has been done as they are trying to update the syllabus and meet other expenses incurred. Once any candidate from Low Income Countries like India pays this $150, he or she will receive a 25% discount on the exams whose fees are still the same for now.

The cost per exam will come upto $146.25 after the 25% discount.

@arunrajes Try and understand how these formulae are arrived. See, PRM is all about understanding the formulae conceptually. There's no use of mugging up. So spend sometime in really understanding what going on. And why did they have to come up so many Risk measures. What were the previous measures lacking which the new ones made up for etc etc.

I have purchased PRM exam material from OM copy center in Mumbai. Received book materials....I am planning to start from Exam 1. Any one preparing for exam 1 here ? it would be more helpful if some one can share, how to start studying for PRM exam 1. I am scared the moment i opened the chapter 1 - risk and risk aversion...so many formulas are there..Mean variance criteria...RAPM etc....Should i remember all these formulas or should i try to understand how these formulas have arrived ???

Looking forward for some help from members who have cleard PRM exam 1

Are there any materials for practicing questions? Do Om, Laxmi or Mahakali book/xerox centres offer any test banks towards PRM I,II,III & IV?

@derivatives It'll cost you $50 for registration and if you belong to a low income country then you will get a 25% discount on every exam which costs $195 without the discount. To avail the discount you need to be a registered member i.e. you have to pay the $50 to get the discount on all the exams. Once you register, you are a member for one year and if you complete all the 4 exams within that period then you don't have to register again else you need to register again for another year to avail the discount on the exams you will be writing in the second year.

@Moneybhai No...I don't think any1 has the excel workbook....i realise that it contains the data n formulae.....but in case you want to learn a specific method or simulation technique....if you jus google it you'll get it....

Any of you guys have the excel workbook, which contains all the data and formulae. Based on this excel workbook illustrations in the PRM handbook are worked out.

I just had the older handbook.. and took the mock test on eduleap.. that should suffice.

@quant_riski I have already cleared all the exams :)...jus wanted u to give a detailed info so dat students in the future cud make an informed decision.....for exam 4 i didn't buy any papers and riskprep doesn't provide as well. Its quite easy, jus read the case studies 2-3 times and understand wat went wrong and wat type risks were ignored...etc....u shud be fine then :)

@srujan90 The have mock tests modeled on the actual exam itself.. the prm 3 mock test i gave had 30qtns and was timed for 2hrs.. gave a good simulation of the actual exam... i got 22/30 there.. got better in the actual exam 24 u can chk it out eduleap.in

@quant_riski That wil surely help the students in the future....i didnt know about eduleap....so please do post some more details bout eduleap....about how many questions r der in the question bank...the cost etc....so that it'll be helpful for others who might wana give in the future...n btw Congrats!! :)

@Hermz Thanks!! :)...well...for exam 1..its a vast portion...so read the handbook 2-3 times....then practice questions frm risk prep....in case u dont understand some concepts of derivatives or debt market....use some texts...like derivatives by John C. Hull n Debt Market by Frank J. Fabozzi....that should be enuf...

@sha13 Thanks!...same to u :)....the study material is in depth....and i tried to study it in depth...u shud do the same to improve ur knowledge in the field....and the questions r moderately tough....not so tough dat u wont pass....but no so easy as well....jus understand the concepts well....and u will need to know all the concepts bcoz u never know wat they mite ask....jus coz riskprep concentrated on a particular topic doesnt mean it'll come for sure...it happened to me....dats why....evrythg is imp....u shud try n understand most of it...some concepts r tough n r given in depth....so atleast try n kno wat it is bout...

@srujan90 happy diwali srujan.. and thank you. yeah.. i just wanted to prepare well for the exams. btw is there any preparation pointers you could give. cause the study material is quite in depth but the sample questions i have seen till now dont require the candidate to go in depth as far as the exam is concerned. any prep tips?

@sha13 I have cleared all the exams with the help of riskprep only. I haven't tried eduleap so I cant give u a comparison but I can tell u dat riskprep was gud enuf for me.

yeah even i want to know.. which one is better, riskprep or eduleap. because i do want to understand the level of questions n the type of questions asked in the exam.

I passed part 1 & 2 of the prm exam.. planning to take part 2 this weekend... spoke to a couple of PRM's and they all seemed to agree that the handbook is sufficient to study along with the suggested study material. I still want to take a couple of mock tests, just to test myself.. have been told about riskprep and eduleap any idea which would be a better? someone told me riskprep questions are very simple. Any suggestions?

Its tough....coz they can ask u frm any corner...and the enterprise risk management and operational risk is full of theory.....so u hv to be well prepared for it....
