I need to prepare for GMAT exam, kindly suggest any nice institute from where I could buy study material. On Flipkart I saw many books from Princeton Review, but I guess study material from any coaching institute will be better.

@tanmoy87 Usually almost all institutes quote the requirement as "Any full time work experience after graduation". So I don't think your's will be considered.

does parallel work ex count? i mean i did a 10+2+3(certification course) and got a job and after 2 years got a graduation degree, now can i say i am a graduate with 2 years of work - ex?? plz help...

Firstly most Top B-Schools require min 5 yrs work exp..so in ur case you could apply to ISB, Great Lakes and Sp Jain...EMBA is at par with normal MBA jst tht the entire curriculam is finished in 1 yr so very hectic....You can easily switch to Consultancy but the switch would be worth if you do ur EMBA frm some premier college...so with ur work exp options are very limited fr EMBA...bt fr 2 yr MBA you can hv an edge as these r done mostly by fresh graduates...ATB

Not only would you be a mismatch, the job profiles you'll get after MBA may also be not to your liking unless you do it from one of the IIMs, XLRI, SPJAIN etc. Even there it will a matter of luck!! Through GMAT you can target IIMA PGPX, IIMB EPGP, IIMC PGPEX, XLRI GMP, ISB PGP, IIML IPMX, IIMI EPGP, SPJIMR PGPM etc. which can be your stepping stone to get into people management, consulting etc. kind of roles.

I have 5.1 years of experience in IT industry in companies IBM and Accenture, but all of it is technical. I never had managerial duties, at most I mentored 1-2 resources but that's all. Please let me know if I am eligible for Executive MBA from IIMs. If it is so then I will go for GMAT exam or else I will participate in CAT exam. One of my friends told me that if I do regular MBA now then I would be a mismatch in class because of my high work ex. Kindly resolve my doubts.

@oyester it depends on kind of profile your looking. If you wanted to continue in IT field post MBA the chances are good if you do your PG in a decent b-school. If you are looking to change your profile from IT to some other industry it would be difficult until you do it from a top notch b-school.

Age: 26+ yrs
Work Ex: close to 5 yrs and working as Assistant Plant Mngr in German MNC( Site job)

Need to go for EMBA this year itself as i feel like stuck in this profile and ofcourse want to give a new high to my career. I want to go for MBA this yr itself as times are unpredictable. My personal and family conditions for the time being are favourable enough to support my education for a yr and it may not be the same nxt yr.

Post MBA i dnt want to shift to IT/ Finance etc. As i am from the core industry and i knw tht profiles offered here at higher posts come with lots of recognition, variety of responsibilities, good pckg, good demand( tht is not run of the mill type like IT, Banking etc). So i basically want to move to higher roles in core industries like oil, energy, infrastructure, operations, research/ consulting etc.

I had offers from Great Lakes( didnt take up as i found most of the companies visiting are IT and excepting IT there is a small pool of profiles to choose from), SP Jain GMBA and IIMS PGPEX( didnt take up as i was not having clarity about the course structure, didnt want to move out of india and fees were too high).Couldnt attend IMT Ghaziabad i/v for professional reasons.
Finally after a lot of brain storming i have settled for MBA-Infrastructure Mgmt in Adani Institute Of Infrastructure Mgmt as it was serving my selection criteria. I am confident of my plcmnts irrespective of economic conditions.
Another reason of selecting sectoral MBA was that in 1 yr its hardly possible to cover all topics of general MBA very well, instead it is good enough to concentrate on a particular sector, especially if the sector is of my interest and has good scope in future.Also sectoral MBA is making its place fast.

But have suddenly started thinking about the decision again, dnt knw why whn all things are falling in place.
I have now got offers from KJ Somaiya and Welingkar Mumbai(i/v pending but will crack it no doubt).The problem is again that these two courses hv general MBAs , so i dnt knw aftr 1 yr MBA whr i will land and there is no clarity of plcmnts. KJS executive MBA is in the 1st yr only. Only advantage of these 2 programs
is the low fee.
I am getting confused a bit. Please experienced puys tell me what will be best for me now and also let me know if i have gone wrong somewhere.

You may also try SPJain PGPM since it has an edge in Ops, IIMC has dedicated program for people from core manufacturing industry, pls check if that serves your purpose.

For Adani I don't have much idea.

IIM bangalore for PGPX considers minimum 7 yrs of work ex as for IIM A it considers atleast 6 yrs of work ex and GMAT score atleast 750+
