Very well done. Congrats on having cleared the GD round and being selected for the PI round. Going by our post the PI's look very elaborate at CRISIL.
As my GD and PI are on 17th I think the steam will be out and the panel will not be in a mood to ask too many questions......Thats is when I clear the GD :tongue:
I was wondering if you cld elaborate a lil more on ur GD. By that I mean what was it that made you stand out from the rest of the gang in the GD round. What was it that the GD panel was looking for. Quantity,content,coherence,More air time,....yada yada
please let us know...

Its strange no body has posted his/her GDPI experience till now ...

Nyways , i had my GDPI at 11 AM today , though it started at 1 PM because group 1 was running late ..nyways , our group had 10 students ..

Firstly we had GD .

Topic : Artificial Intelligence - Will machines replace man one day ?

I initiated the GD & then made 4-5 entries in the first 5 mins . Few times it became one to one argument type of situation ..
After 5 mins , they asked three of us to stop participating :whatthat: ( i knew we were thru to the next round ) Then GD continued for another 10 mins without much healthy points coming us ...Then they stopped the GD & asked us to wait .. Rating : 7/10

Then came the results ... 5/10 selected ( in the morning group they selected 6/12 )[ Its a very healthy 50 % elimination,guys, which i never expected to happen considering the very low no of candidates at this stage ]:yell:

nyways , then they asked two of us who had qualified thru CAT to write the essay which was same as u wrote during ur exam.. It want pathetic , cant able to think much on the topic ..mine Rating : 5/10

Then came the PI round ...

Mine was no. 4 for PI ... Average duration was 10-15 mins ..
I was grilled a lot on Acads, subprime crisis & its impact on india , about ICICI Bank share price movement , supply chain mgmt & lots more ...
Was not sure for many answers .. Then they asked me abt my preference between CRISIL & MDI/IMT... I honestly told me that mine first pref would be MDI & IMT wud be mine last pref after CRISIL ..

Then some smiles exchanged .. Thats it ...they shaked hands & i came out .
I am not very satisfied with my performance, but this was the general feeling in mine group as they grilled on acads . But still hopes are high because of very lower no. of people interviewed. ;-)

on the basis of talks i had with some of the seniors , i got to know that if they dont find enough no. of suitable candidates , they would take lesser no. of interns :(

Though i am still very much apprehensive about it because last year also they filled all 45 seats & if there is question of not even selecting 75 interns is there , then there would be no probability of even a second merit list ( or waitng list )

Regarding the experiences of the first batch... the good news is that we all are creating a separate blog for the CCAP so soon you all will get to know everythin involved with CCAP.

yup as we told CRISIL is not compromising on the quality of intakes.

n results sud be arnd the 20th of march ie; this thursday

it was a nice experience sittin for the crisil test......
abt the paper i can say that it was a typical cat like paper but certain questions were litle too easy especialy in the quant section.
di was reasonably ok as it always is in most of the exams,
english i found moderatly difficult especially those close syn. and ant...
overall it was pleasant.

I called up the CRISIL office today and was told that the result will be out on Thursday, 20th March.

I hope the results will be out either today or tomorrow as it was mentioned that results will be declared within a week of the written test.

hey guys how was the paper........i found it to be tougher than most MBA exams which i have given this season,based on the cat pattern with an addition of an essay!!!(500 word long and that too an abstract topic,i cudnt thnk much more so due to the way the exam was managed by the school authorities,some ppl were quite rightly enraged by the invigilator's behaviour and lack of profeesional manner in our centre)
but i thnk the paper was of gud level which shows the importance of this course and its perceived value in the industry(CRISIL entry aint easy...)
ne ways ppl post ur attempts and thoughts on the exam soon!!
on the flip side i cud write just abt 100-125 wds on essay and also not too confident on my chances..

I got to know the level of the paper was quite tough and the eassy thing was a surprise pack for u all, CRISIL is not going to compromise on the quality of people even if the number required is not met, so u guys are expected to be ready for a rigoroud procedure even in the future.
Results are expected within a week or so.

Hello Amit,

The GD/PI is very much like an MBA interview where you are tested upon your aptitude in terms of interaction level with people and your assertiveness too, the interview basically judges you on your fields of interest and why do you want to join the course and how do you perceive the course.

There is no bond to work with CRISIL after the course, and that's the best part of the course i suppose.

Last year around 700 people applied, this time round the same kind of response is expected. Since the program is a start-up and new intiative the amount of applications will remain quite less for few years and that gives people applying right now an incentive in terms of less competition.

None of the selection rounds have any weightage i suppose, the Written is an elimination process followed by the GD and the interview. What matters is the final perception which the selection committte has about you.

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to add to everything that has been said till now. CCAP is a unique program in itself which has been initiated by CRISIL. The program is an educational cum employment program. This does not come to you as a sustitute to your MBA. I have always been saying that this program gives you an edge over others in terms of the learnings and experience you get due to the unique design in terms of academics as well as the internship. It gives you a head start to your career in the area of finance.
But this course is not the one with which u settle down in life. People with lots of experience and qualifications should join this course keeping in mind that it doesnt earn you fast bucks. CRISIL as well as CCAP wud be a BRAND which u will have to leverage upon as much as u can.
The academics is as good as any B-School or for that sake any other course being run in the country. The opportuniy costs are also there but yeah u can very well capitalize well if u commit urself to two years of intensive learning.

There is no "list" as such at the moment. If u've submitted ur application in person, u wud know rite away if u need to appear for CRISIL's aptitude test. If u don't clear their cut-offs, u'll receive an admit card to appear for the test on 09/03/2008.

The choices of people may be based on several factors other than percentile and hence a course coveted by one may not even exist on another's shortlist.

the guy with 99.5%ile got an NM convert and hence din't join the course. Yet, we do hv people here with 97+ in cat/xat and some guys with MBA converts who preferred to join this course over doing MBA.....I would like to suggest here that every candidate only needs to choose what's best for him given the options he has and think if a given option is a step forward in the direction of achieving his goal.

As regards, current location of trng is NITIE, Powai and office is ANdheri-E with both places roughly 1 hr. of travel apart at max.

For our batch, The business units , once alloted, cannot be changed during the tenure of the course. I believe the same rule applies to the second batch as well.

Regarding entrance exam, I believe the cutoff for CAT/XAT was 85%ile and not 90 as mentioned before. Though I had not appeared for CCAP entrance test, from the sample paper and from feedback of last year's applicants I conclude that it is much easier than CAT/XAT...so just brush up your fundas a bit...keep a cool mind...just another exam.

My GD grp had people having %iles ranging from 85 to 99.5 with a mix of engineers, comm grads, science grads and an IMA ka banda. The topic was very generic:' Everything is fair in love, war and business'. Panel comprised three fellows from CRISIL's management(panel varies from location to location).blank papers were given for jotting down your thoughts. opportunity to speak equally available..boils down to you...entirely.

During my GD the panel would intervene during GD to ask top contributors (top not in terms of points or airtime but in terms of content) to remain silent- an indication that they were through to the nxt round. Also it is worthwhile to note down the salient points of the discussion as it progresses for you may be asked to summarize the GD.

Questions revolve arnd your background, your intention behind pursuing course, your ability to relocate to mumbai( if a non-Mumbaiiite), your workex( if any), your fav subject( mostly asked to freshers), your ability and willingness to endure the rigour of working and studying, questions relating to your contribution during gd, your conclusion abt gd, wht you write in form etc

It is very clear that there is no specific number of candidates that will be shorrtlisted during gd as there have been GDs in which only one candidate was shortlisted out of a gr of 12. same applies to pi

My advice: say the truth during pi....stick to your guns.

There is absolutely no bias or favour towards people with fin/commerce/eco/ workex/ localite/gender backgrounds.


There was a waitlist of 12 candidtaes last time....

present faculty: al ready answered by afx

present job involves doing credit rating for a foreign client( varies from dept to dept)

expectation: as promised by crisil

The Cut off for both XAT an CAT this year has been 90%ile and the sectional Cut-offs are 80 percentile in each section.
So others less than that do expect a call for the aptitude test.

The application form also asks us to select our choice of business from Ratings, Research, Advisory & Global Analytical Centre. I went thru the website & read abt these.

But what's ur personal take on these? Any advice, suggestions wud b welcome...

See Domestic ratings is the what CRISIL is best at. Its known for that. Advisory is another great consultancy business. Research is wherein CRISIL does a broad research on market in terms of economy etc.
Global Analytical centre is the offshoring business of CRISIL wherein we work with Standard and Poors core operations and look after rating of US and Europian markets as well as other Asia Pac countries.

Personally i would rate the in the following order in terms of my interest....
Advisory
CRISIL Research
GAC'
Domestic Ratings
