Greetings folks!

What a lovely thread. Great info for consultants and aspirants alike. I have done plenty of amateur research on consulting but i'm in a bit of a mess and a bit of a dilemma right now.

I graduated from Mumbai Univ. in 2009 and worked for Accenture Tech Solns. for about 20 months. I quit Accenture, and have since been interning with a reputed NGO as well as job hunting. While contemplating my options, I came across opportunities at Capgemini consulting through some of my senior contacts at the organisation.

Now about Capgemini, I am curious about the non-IT consulting work they do (that is of primary interest to me now). Of course it's silly to dream of strategy consulting, it seems they are more into process consulting (implementation or operational) eg. change management, marketing, process re-structuring etc. Also true is the fact that, for Indian clients they have a pretty limited market share, given the dominance of senior players like McKinsey and even Accenture. That automatically scales down the demand with which Capgemini approaches B-schools for recruitment.

There are two possibilites here for anyone like me : 1. Front-end roles in Indian projects (that are inclined towards MBAs a little heavily but given a fledgling brand still worth a try) 2. Business research roles for front-end consultants abroad (McKinsey Knowledge centre equivalent)

If I am to pursue this line as a CONDUIT to a good b-school in India (read ISB) or abroad, would these profiles be counted as good consulting workex? I know it depends on the project you're staffed in and the exposure you get, but would it be easy to sell it to a panel of a leading b-school GIVEN the known penchant of Capgemini to bring mainly back-office IT jobs to India?

I would greatly appreciate the experienced folks to come up with their two cents on this. It might help me evaluate my next step forward.

For the academics, I don't boast of an overly impressive academic record or awe-inspiring CAT scores (97.2 in 2009 and 97.2 in 2010, hell yes and calls in 2010 - MDI,XLRI but no converts)
