Advice req'd on career in India - 02-11-2011, 09:48 PM - Add Post To Favorites

Hello Everyone!
I was following a few posts earlier and looking at the advice, etc, so thought I'd post the question that's been worrying me for a while:

I am currently working in London in one of the Big 4 firms (since Aug 2008 ), due to finish my ACA this December and moved from audit to fraud investigation 3 months ago (also involved in a couple of transaction related projects in the last year). However, now I really want to return home as I've been here since my undergrad and see myself in India in the future.

The roles that I want to take based on the ACA experience here include (this is potentially what I could aim for over here):
1. Risk consultancy/Consultancy - possibly as an Associate
2. Big 4 Advisory - Either Transactions or Performance Improvement

I am looking to move back latest by summer 2012 and not sure what to expect in terms of:
a) Positions I am likely to get
b) Salary (have been advised to expect 1/3rd of my pay here..)
c) What companies (if not Big 4) would offer the best transition in terms of the work culture (as I have never really worked in India)
d) How does recruitment take place when it is not on campus and not in the same field as experience (Audit)
e) Which Big4 firm is actually the best in Advisory in India

I know that not being MBA qualified is a BIG disadvantage in India for getting the above roles but really do not want to do an MBA right now as I don't think it will add anything to my skillset + is not a sound investment for me right now - I did my undergrad in Finance and Accounts in UK....and I feel that I definitely need more experience before doing another degree (and a break from studying !)

Ideally I will be trying to get a transfer within my firm, but do not want to wait around for them to decide so can someone please guide me using their personal experience? Or even just a rough guidance on how likely it is to get a job here in the above and address the 5 points raised?

Basically, really want to make the most of having the international experience without having to start right at the bottom, again!

Any help will be very much appreciated!

Thanks!
Ash
