Hey MBA4mheart,
You need to be a bit more specific for us to answer you properly.
My answer will be a bit restricted to Big 4 here. KPMG, Deloitte and E&Y; visit NMIMS and offer profiles in their advisory arms. Some years they miss us as well . These are client facing roles and might requir...
Hey Rana,
Afraid cannot help much on this. I have no idea about India consulting.

Pat,
I am assuming you are referring to MBB (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) and also referring to experience post MBA. This post will be restricted to McKinsey but can largely apply to the other two.
The answer is yes but probability is very less. A few reasons:

@abhimukh19 : Is it possible to get into the BIG 3 firms after an MBA from IIM K(after work exp) even if one has a very good profile throughout his career? If not, what are the alternative routes?
It will be difficult to get into core business consulting directly from NM , but you do have some chances with advisory services arms of Big 4. NM seniors can clarify better . Yes front end consulting involves travelling and discussing with client whereas backend support consulting is research ba...

Yes targeting the right colleges such as Nitie , SP Jain and IIT Mumbai should see you there :)
Management consulting profiles are little difficult to achieve at Tier 2 colleges during the intial period of your career but MBA+ domain experience should see you there .. Try and get into advisory services part of Big 4 accounting firms (EnY , KPMG.. etc) you will get decent exposure to consu...

@TORNADOMBA Hi, Hi,
There are mainly 3 type of consulting firms you might want to target: BIG 3 (MBB -McKinsey, Bain and BCG); BIG 4 (Deloitte, Accenture, E&Y;, PWC) and Niche Healthcare Consulting Firms (IMS, ZS Associates etc)
Big 3: Making it to the Big 3 MBB -McKinsey, Bain and BCG - m...

@TORNADOMBA I don't think it would be very tough for you to break into big 4 consulting firm. Healthcare sector is booming and so is the health care consulting. Apart from the MBA degree and a solid resume, you also need to have a good networking to get a call in any of the big 4 because employee...

query goes to all the seniors, which b schools have the best faculties, best exposure to industry and offers best job profiles to IT consulting/strategic consulting/BA profiles among IITs, FMS, NITIE and I, K and also new IIMs ??
tornadomba: You can check out IMS Consulting which is the consulting arm of IMS Health. It competes with MBB directly in healthcare. Apparently they are ramping up their team in India. ZS Associates can be another good bet. The hard truth is that tier 1 is unrealistic, consulting arms of big 4 au...

Certifications do not really help in consulting. The big consulting firms hire MBAs from the big ones ( i.e. top 10 ) and undergrads from the IITs, BITS and top 2 NITs. So basically, one has to get into a top bschool and get very good grades to b...

Any "CA Freshers" looking for a job in Consulting with BIG 4 pls PM me...have an urgent requirement
Not sure of the finer details, but from what I know they are focused on 2-3 sectors (TMT/FS/??) and probably 1-2 practices only (SCM?). Also, I am not sure of the percentage figures that you mention, but it sounds quite high for a firm of their size. I would also stay away from drawing conclusion...
