Its not sure... bt yes in June & Dec 09, the test centre was in India (Mumbai to be precise). In fact for June attempt the option was given in April. So maybe it will be so for Dec'10, but be prepared for the eventuality of test centre not being in India...

Planning to register for CFA level 1 exam. But in a dilemma whether to choose June or Dec. One prob with Dec is how confident can we be that there will be test centre in India. I heard for two years during Dec India will be announced as test centre. Is it so? Thought of confirming with you guys.

Do I have the option of splitting the reg fees in 2 cards ??

U can add money in the card and then pay.. eg if ur limit is 30k and fee 45k add 15k and wait 4 2/3 days and pay...

I thnk u must go for Schweser's Material because its a choice of 85% CFA Charters.... U CAN Buy it color xerox notes for 1k or u can download it for free.....

If ur option is to buy, thn u wil get 5 NOTES, 2 PRACTICE VOL, QUICK SHEET and Question Bank CD....

Good to hear that you are a CFA Level I Candidate !!

As per the reports, CFA Dec'09 Level I was Anti-Schweser and people who relied solely on it had a trouble time and they had to bear the consequence of it . The Result was a mere 34% Pass .

So , my personal opinion would be to be go ahead with CFAI books itself since there is sufficient time for preparation. But , as you have mentioned that you would be registering by the end of June , so in the mean time Schweser should serve you the purpose.

But ,as stated above, it would be risky proposition to rely on Schweser alone , going by the Dec CFA Level I Exam Question Paper.

About the material available on the Net , i have not personally seen them and so cannot comment on them with surity.But i guess if Schweser Notes 2010 are available , that would do.

1. was thinkin of givin level1 in dec 2010.wanted to enquire about the eligibility criteria.

2.is the course easy to understand?

3.whats the procedure for doin CFA from US? how do i get admission there?

4. i would also like to clarify that if i give an attempt in june for level 1 n do not clear it den will i have to again pay the fees for the december 2010 attempt?

5.will complete my graduation this year.so should i first do MBA or go for CFA?

I would like to help a bit....

1. You are eligible if you are in your final year.

2. I would answer it as No, but it depends upon your current level of understanding of finance. Please check the curriculum/portion of CFA L1.

3. I wonder if you are in Delhi why are you thinking of giving CFA from US? But to answer you, if you want to give it from US then you need to select the test center in US! Simple logic! But I would suggest you to read properly the instructions giving on the CFA website and ask someone who has given it from US.

4. You have to pay the exam fees again. And not the registration fees(You register only once - so registration fee is just one time.)

5. MBA or CFA is a huge debate in itself and what's good for you - only you know mate...anyone else cannot have a say on it. Discuss with your friends...ask your heart...study the career after MBA and after CFA..and then you should decide.

CFA is a costly affair you should be ready to put in a lot of effort for it, so dont make a flaccid decision. Think and act.

I am also planning to take CFA but I also want to do MBA frm finance. The query which I have is general and I had gone thru all the post which are there for CFA but still dilema persists.
I have exp of 3.5 yrs in IT appeared for cat but this time no one knows, want to do MBA from good institution and tht to in finance. The problem is my IT exp will be wasted and I will again be a fresher in finance and it will not give me as much exposure as CFA would give, if I consider finance. But to be in dream college for doing MBA is again an all together different thing. So, I am stuck in between not sure where to go.
One more thing today I got some info that a Level 1 certified guy can also get 35 to 40 K USD job and I am not sure it's at all true may be 2 to 3 years back it was but in this scenarios it's difficult. But still I would like to have some info on it.

dude, dere's no custom charges fr the material to be shipped in india(at least thats what i have read on oder threads).

n u will get all the material within 7 to 10 days cetrus paribus.

I was checking the test centers for L 1 Dec 2010 exam on CFA'a website. The test center does not have Kathmandu, Nepal as one of the options. I am writing this because I do not have a passport and entering Nepal doesn't requires a passport. So, it is the only test centre where I can give the exam

However, for the L1 June 2010 exam, Kathmandu is one of the test centers. Infact, it has always been as one of the options for test center's. I was wondering if Kathmandu will be added as a test center sometime later.

If one observes the test centers for June and December 2010 exams, one can easily see that June 2010 exam offers more test centers as compared to December.
This makes me think that may be Kathmandu will be added as a test center later.

It's not necessary that Katmandu will be added as the center for Dec'10 and the same follows for Mumbai as well.

You can as of now fill Singapore as your Test center . And in case Kathmandu is added as a center afterwards , one has the privilege to change the center till 75 days before the Exam Date

CFA Dec ' 10 Registrations have started from today . I would be registering by Jan end .

Unfortunately Mumbai and even Kathmandu are not listed as Test Centers .

So , one would have to go to Singapore for the Exam.
