ankursar,
You are absolutely correct. In your case, its actually a bit dicey. Since you cant leave your job, I suggested you the best alternative to a regular MBA.
MBA - once does mostly only once in life, a good one, and a regular one, as you said.
But Hughes is a way bit better than distance courses like ICFAI,SCDL..etc. But again it wont give you recognition that a regular MBA carrries. An MBA means campus, without campus, its not valued much. But the advantage with Hughes is that, it is partly online and partly campus mode, which gives 30%, then the IIM/IIT name which carries another 30%. However, the total is still 60%. A good regular program is worth 100%. But for that, you need to sacrifice your job. Now you will be able to better weigh the factors. Another similar vendor is the NIIT Imperia -IIM C program. You would know about the Wipro-BITS Pilani MS program. So you get me now how these are different from the usual distance courses? Basically these wont provide placement as regular courses, (might be placement assistance) but its a good learning and good recognition, far more than typical distance/correspondence management courses.Another advantage is the networking you get once you visit the elite campuses, and then the exposure through some fieldwork and transparency through some one-on-one online professor lectures. This is how these come close to the real regular MBA exposure.
I myself am gonna resign job this year (after a 4+) and join AIM Manila for my MBA.
All the best. If you can afford a regular one, go for it. Else, these are good enough alternatives. But , I'd suggest dont enrol in any conventional distance courses.
