last year

one of my friend selected in union bank po with very good score at home posting during final joining or after that he filled many exam of po,n cracked ..like IOB,BOB,state level exam..and ruined many seats in many xam....now he is posted out of the his city n want to leave bank because want to go in another field....think because of his uninteresting nature in bank job he is going to ruin his money...as well as the seats of many needy people
now his situation is that he is not even to crack his dream exam SSC OR psc
exam because somewhere you need to b focus on your career ...instead of showing the good score or using bank job as stepping stone...one should concentrate his or her dream job.

100% agreed bro.....my personal experience says that people who HOP jobs,companies and sectors continuously(a couple of changes are fine...but there are many who keep on doing this for years and years) become less productive at the end...and also confused........plus they lose focus on career and life.....career decisions should be taken after giving serious thoughts,rather than trial and error as your friend has done.....this not only makes one lose focus,but also wastes the opportunities for other,deserving people....No hard feelings.....:cheers::cheers:

Posting my interview experience for SBI Associate PO.

GD Topic: More people are migrating to urban areas and this is effecting rural economy.
Very good discussion with the group equally divided for and against the topic.

Interview:
4 retired GM's. One person was no 3 in SBI hierarchy when he retired.

1.Why do you want to quit your job.You make more money than you will get at SBI?
2: What is happening in Iran?
3:What are India's neighboring countries?
4: Will you take rural posting?
5:You have relatives in banking sector?
6:Why are you enamored by the banking sector?
7:Name few private banks in India?
8:Which banking sector is stronger:Indian or western?
9.Are you willing to trade salary for respect and job security at SBI?
10. Which part of Asia is Iran in?

No questions on hobbies,work ex or graduation subjects.
It mostly centered on why i was willing to quit my current job in a city for a rural posting that would pay me lesser.

I found the quality of the panel and the candidates very high.
There were people from IIT and BITS in my group.Also an MBA student and civils aspirant.

Hoping for the best.

@sagarsanyal Dost seats toh fill hoyengee hee hoyengee .... and infact it will make no difference to you either we select now or later . Some ppl with higher score than u will get eliminated from ur competition after they take seat ...
If i and many other dont take seat than UBI will come up with a second list and some other person with better score than u will take the seats... so in the ultimate analysis it is still good for you since ppl with higher score are moving out of ur competition....samjhey sir jee...

it is the most difficult question as no one has a proper answer for it. I have around 3 years of IT experience and it was more difficult for me to convince them. i just told about benefits of banking job...job security n all which is nt there in IT...n my IT job required long working hours n shifts which banking sector does nt have....plus most of my family ppl are in PSU jobs only n are pretty happy... so i tried my best to convince...quoting examples n all... rest is in the hands of god ... vacancies for scale two will be very very less as compared to scale1.
But Some time applicants are also less...

I have seen in some bank results...they have qualified less then three times of the vacancies (scale2)....
Also for scale 2: most of the vacancies are filled by promotion, very less are available for direct recruitment....

So its high risk high return Game...

Not selected even with the score of 182..
Even 182 marks + good PI not selected..
Feeling down and out, was damn sure of selection....
With a heavy heart i took he pledge that i wont post on this thread until i become a PO....

For scale 2 less competition, better salary etc.....(not to invest 4-8yr scale 1)
First see from last trends that is there enough vacancies are coming for your stream for which you have applied.....

It will be easier to qualify Scale 2 then scale 1.
As recently pass out generally have better theoretical and aptitude....
(Logic: Most of the B'Schools also decrease the cut off for exp.)

venue: Chandigarh
Gd topic : Migration of population is good for economy.
and out of 15 candidates 11 were present.

interview:
1. You are from an IT background and doing exceptionally well there. Then why do u want to be a PO?
2. What is the total worth of the treasure found at Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple in trivandrum, Kerala?
3. What is the latest update on that treasure?
4. How many times have you visited that temple?
5. Do you think that trial by media is pressurizing the judiciary?
6. How does an AC work? (was kind of stupid coz i am a software engineer by profession and he was asking me mechanical/electrical stuff)...
7. Asked about my family background.
8. Why does the temperature increase after snowfall?
9. Chandigarh is a U.T so he asked me to list all the other U.Ts.
10. asked about NREGA.
11. What is the equation of a straight line intercepting a, b at x axis?
12. equation of a circle.

overall it was a good experience.

Because UBI joining will not take more then 3 weeks(even lesser)..
So In any ways Selected person have to decide in advance....

and it is possible that banks might not come with more lists(not more then one)and also there is some boundation that waiting list can't go beyond certain % of vacancies....
So it will add to backlog only....
So if you are top scorer,apply only in dream banks...(if u r confident)....
But my suggestion is take less risk....

na..na...plzz dont be sorry...its your personal opinion...I believe that very soon (may be within 15 days) Union will be coming out with their final joining dates(training etc)...by that time,many high scorers with the above stated mindset would have appeared for other bank interviews....what would happen then??if a bank like union comes out with final joining date,99% (if not 100%)will surely join the bank...they will surely not wait for the other banks final list to get published(as that is uncertain but Union is a sure shot thing)...the bottom line is...those posts will remain vacant..and many deserving ones will not get job...they will again flock in the other bank interviews,thereby resulting in a domino effect which will,at the end push many many deserving candidates out of the list...dont you think that that is useless??bond amount and other stuffs are fine...money is important...it certainly depends on the candidate now...but if I were in their place,I would had certainly joined the bank that I am getting...:|.....and NO....going by the above argument,you are not occupying only one seat...you are going for a single seat but wasting many...plzz understand the concept of that "Domino effect"...that I stated...

Not in union bank list, feeling depressed now, lets see ....what next..... score was 175 so was not too much hopeful for that as it was first interview,,,,,,,now syndicate is the hope,,,, i think 2nd list for union vl dfntly come as SBI and ssc is now coming also...............-

what's new in this , this is called the reservation...
It shows that there are few candidates from sc/st/obc who got higher marks than the general candidates...(1241-1197=44)...
