Hello puys..
I have been reading stuff on this site for quite some time and this is for the first time I am posting something.
First of all, I would like to thank you all for initiating some great discussions here.
Actually I am facing a very serious dilemma these days. I have done my engineering(batch 2011) and got placed in TCS. But, sadly, I got my joining in march 2012. A long2 time. In the mean while I gave IBPS PO and got tws 175. I have my UBI interview coming up and also I have applied for syndicate,BOI,PNB.
Now my Q is whether I should join TCS or bank(considering I get selected). I don't when the banks will announce result and when would they give joining. So, in case I go and join TCS in the mean while, and I leave then I'll have to give them 50k, the bond amount...!!
I am going through quite a rough patch facing these hard ques. What should I go for??
P.S. I am 22 and I intend to pursue MBA, may be after an experience of 2 years or something.
Thanx a ton in advance my fellow aspirants.
am a BCA with some work ex and have knowledge about IT jobs and also have many MBA friends...as far as my idea is concerned,it should depend upon your aptitude...what exactly do you wanna do in future??if you join TCS,it would be hardcore IT involving planning,development,research,coding,testing,etc....everything revolving around software development...the team work behind it...the entire project development in a step-by-step manner...etc etc....
then come to MBA...if after 2 years of exp in a software co. like TCS,u join an MBA course,u will get to know the managerial aspects of a project...like marketing..selling....finances..HR...and many many more...but it would be mostly non-technical...u will hopefully get a good placement after the course, perhaps in an IT co if you choose so.....and you will have to deal with the managerial aspects of a software company...you may change your career path after MBA and get into a financial co and even a private bank....
..now come to banking....I guess its a completely diff career path.....if you get selected, you will have to say adieu to technical knowledge and will have to take care of a sarkari bank branch...u may be placed anywhere, even a rural branch and you will have to go there...if you chose to serve in a bank right now,you will get an experience but that will be entirely about banking...cust satisfaction...bank statistics...finance...loans...interests..cash..credits..deposits and withdrawals etc etc....and stuff like these...(senior Puys, pardon my lack of knowledge about the exact job profile and the banking terms,if u find any in my post ...

).....if after 2 years,u leave it and join MBA,after completion, you will have to get back to a bank or a financial co. working as a manager.......
I have worked in an IT co...and know that technical job is addictive..

..for many people;they become "geeks",as they are called....and exactly opposite for many....for them,it is 100% boring...and they try to run away from the company as soon as possible

...the money (50000 Rs)is important and I cannot say what you need to do about it;in any case,if you get a job as a PO,u perhaps will be able to save that much and repay it to whomsoever you have taken it from in say,6-8 months but more importantly,a Bank PO will change the path of your career......from a software engineer (a technical job profile),you will become a Bank PO,which is a non-technical post...are you willing to do that? will you be happy? think about THAT area in which you have interest, and THAT job that excites you,and then take a decision(personal opinion).....ATB...byee!!!
