Hi Parveen,
Thanks for your feedback. Can you suggest us the books which would help us in getting a good score. We all referring the books which have been mentioned to us by seniors or MBA graduates.
Deep
This post will be a little detailed:
1) GMAT is more than a 50 years old exam. Thus it is important to know what not to study rather than what to study.
a) Do not go for books from third party. Stick only to Official Guides atleast in Verbal.
b) Official Guide 13 is the most important book. It can be supplemented with other Official Guide.
c) Do purchase Manhattan Sentence Correction Guide. It is a good book. Book on RC and CR from Manhattan are not that good.
d) Power Score CR Bible is recommended by some. But I will say keep away from it. Of late GMAT CR's are becoming very organic rather than technical.
e) Every question for you in the OG's must be a study. Wrong options make you learn. Right options take you to the next question, thus concentrate on wrong options.
f) In Quant, OG's fail to give you the feel of the real exam. In fact in my fourth atempt I realised that Quant has become quite tough. Anything less than 50 in Quant means there is a 80% probability that you will not score 700.
g) For Quant for basics you can refer Manhattan but if you are weak in Quant then you need to start from a basic book on maths.
h) Later shift to the 700-800 document in Quant.
2) How much time is required for the GMAT?
I will recommend 3 to 5 months. Yes that much of time is indeed required if you are planning a 700 or above. In fact it may take more time if you are weak in both quant and verbal.
