Have you availed the feedback? re-applicants can call up ad-com at ISB (phone number is on ISB website) and request for a feedback. Adcom will tell you why were u not able to make it last year... you can then decide if you need to re-write GMAT or work on something else.

Hi Shashwata,

1) If your GMAT is in Jan2012 you can not apply in one of the rounds this year. The last date for R2 is Nov 30. So you will have to wait till R1 next year to apply.
2) There are lot of guys who can give you study materials if you PM them. I would suggest buying OG12 and Manhattan SC book as they mostly proves to be sufficient. You can trawl this thread for posts on free Mock Tests. When you register for GMAT u will get access to two free Mock tests from GMAC.
3) 3-4 months should be more than enough for GMAT prep. But if you care very sharp (aiming for 99%ile in CAT) 3-4 months might seem very long for you. If you are ready to give the GMAT and you exam date is still a month away a fatigue starts setting in. I would suggest it is best to give the exam when your enthu for it is the highest. Just go through a couple of mock tests and see where you are at. Decide how much time would you require to achieve your target score and take a GMAT date/start studying accordingly.

Last year's questions were same as this year's. The questions are as follows -

1. Under what circumstances and for how long have you known the applicant? (50 words maximum)
   
2. Please rate the applicant's achievements when compared to those of his or her peers and mention the reference group with which you are making these comparisons. (100 words maximum)
   
3. Please describe in brief situations where the applicant displayed signs of leadership abilities and team skills. (200 words maximum)
   
4. Please mention two consistent strengths of the applicant and if possible provide instances where she/he demonstrated these strengths. (200 words maximum)
   
5. Please indicate two areas where the applicant has shown learning and improvement which would add value to his application to the ISB. (100 words maximum)
   
6. Please provide any other comments that you consider are relevant to the applicant's admission to the ISB, especially regarding the applicant's career in business/management. (200 words maximum)

Tip#2

Your recommendation provider should highlight aspects not fully covered in your essays. Merely repeating what is there in your application is not good value-add. However, if most of the things highlighted are new, then that may give a very different picture of you than what you have portrayed yourself in your application (which may confuse the selection committee).

Scanned copies of all marksheets will work. Make sure that you have ONE (1) pdf containing ALL (all semesters) mark sheets. Because you will only be able to upload only one file.

Hi-- Although there is a dedicated forum to deal with GMAT Maths question and I can also see someone Groaned you ...
The answer is: -- Option 5. 32

Explanation -- Let the couple be AB CD EF GH -- Total 8.
Now we have to choose 3 people from the pool of 8 people and the constraint is that they should not be couple.
First select the first candidate -- This can be done in 8 ways (Lets say we choose A)
Since, A & B are couple -- B is out of selection process..
So people left for 2nd selection are 6. Similarly, for 3rd and last selection this number is 4.
Total ways -- 8*6*4 .. But -- The sequence of selection is not important. So divide this product by 3! i.e. 6.
Hence, we get the product as 32
Let me know if this is correct.

Tip # 1 :
A successful application is average in a few elements, above average in most of the aspects, and has a couple of SPIKES. Examples of spikes could be, running your own company, exceptional academic credentials, paper publications, or global business exposure.

I thought it is best to introduce Alum Referral Program to all of you. Some may know about it, some may not.

ISB: Alum Referral Program
- If you know any ISB alum, you can (read should) request him to refer you to ISB.
- How to do it: Each alum has a link on their ISB emails to refer applicants. You as an applicant just have to request the alum
- Benefits: Referral from an alum will make you eligible for priority counselling. This means that you get more support from the Admissions team @ ISB on your applications.

You can discuss this at a greater length with the alum who is referring you or just drop me an email with the alum copied on the same email.

WHAT IT DOES NOT GET YOU:
1) It gives "no undue advantage" to you over other candidates, its only a support to help you complete your application
2) Alum referral "does not" mean that you are exempted from recommendations or any other requirements of the application process. You STILL have to complete the application with due diligence

Hi Atul, This is a tricky question. None of us are in Adcom ;)! Therefore, I think it's not right to put this type of question on PG. No one can answer it correctly. We all are in the same boat. Rather than this, you may like to post your doubts regarding Maths and Verbal which can be answered by experts and users present here.

Does it really matter , what the junta thinks .....I mean none of them are in the adcom are they .....they are in the same boat as u r ....mostly applicants with little or no knowledge of what the adcom thinks while accepting or rejecting a candidate...........you should directly mail the adcom for profile evaluations , they can tell you about all this

I have given my GMAT recently and got a score of 720. As of august 2011, I have 4 years of experience (which means if i get admitted it will be close to 4.7 years experience). My academics are not great (X:83 XII:87 B.E (C.S Mumbai Univ):61 ).Another major problem is that I am from the infamous IT pool. Only positive aspects are that I have worked for TCS and currently working for IBM in the SAP domain. Also, I have published a few white papers and received a few awards from both these organisations for my contribution to the product (awards at the industry level).Extra curriculars are not great.Please advice if I have any remote chance of getting an ISB call

Is that Ok ?....I feel this should be fine............Will GMAT ppl want the name to be given in the way it is given in the passport...

Will have 7 years of experience in IT by Aug 9. Out of 7 years, 4.5 years I have been in the US working for a Pharma Trend Analytics Client. I am leading and managing a reporting operations. I had a chance to build a new team at the start of the project back in 2007 and then I went onto market this reporting operations team and its capabilities across the various deparments of client company. Its a big success! I am interested in Marketing!
