I took my GMAT on 1st April, 2009.
My scores:
AWA: 5.5 (80 p.c. rank)
Quants: 50 (94 p.c. rank)
Verbal: 36 (78 p.c. rank)
Overall: 720 (95 p.c. rank)

Although I'm happy with my overall score, my verbal score has let me down.
My mistake: In a rush to finish off all questions in time, I must have made some mistakes answering the verbal section. I ended the verbal section about 12 minutes early.
My advice: Practice doing the verbal section in just the right time. Don't spend too much time on a question nor spend too less time on it.
I'll try to put up my test prep strategies and practice test scores soon.

If you look at eSnips or Scribd, there are lots of materials there that would help you with preparation. There are whole self-study guides etc that can be of help.

jimmyrockon the colleges abroad usually give profile based calls....its not only your wrkex or acads or GMAT core for that matter which is taked into consideration .. bt the whole package u present to them...though most schools give preference to workexp, there is a small percentage of freshers also in the class
if you do not have wrkexp try to cover it up in a strong way ..... n be ready to ans the interviewer

I'm appearing for the GMAT on the 20th of April, just started studying properly today. It is tedious!!!

I'm planning on finishing KAPLAN Math workbook in 1.5 weeks, and moving on to KAPLAN800.

Only using OG 11th ed. for verbal.

I got up and gave the GMAT on the 6th of March w/o prep and got a 520. Sucks. I'm aiming for 650 - 700. Yikes! So count me in to this whole study group thing going!

yeah u can get a slot for May but you may not get one which you want....i mean u will have to plan u r leaves n all....u might have to manage with whichevr you get....
I think most people appear in April, May, June....so it can get crowed...

The thing is Desperation has reached to an height that anything else than IT.... Looks simply Fascinating.... and feeling is like I can Exel anything but not IT....
Anyways... I would like to have your Opinion on MBA from Singapore .... NUS, Nanyang & SMU.. MBA Starts in July August.... Its an 18 months Course..... What you guys think about it ???

Sorry Did not get u... r u already a graduate from the IIM, if yes then i wld say NUS would not be a good option. I would rather suggest Insead. You can have half of your course at Singapore and half in France. You can apply for Jan intake if you want to have an intership.. (as i guess you want to try your hands in something else than IT )

In GMAT your score is out of 60 in both the sections but 51 is the maximum marks some one can get...this is because GMAT has relative grading and there are very few people who come close to 51 and those who do are very close to a GMAT score of 800...which is very rare....so 51 is the max limit.

Regarding your second doubt ...yes i guess most of the junta will be targeting admissions for next fall....der are two reasons
Most of the B-schools dont have an intake in JAN like Chicago GSB( now dis depends on the course which u r applying...i suppose its Full time MBA u r targetng)
Secong thing is there will be a problem for internships since u r expected to complete a year in a school before you can do interships (US law i guess) u wont complete a year if u join in JAN/FEB ....n hence internship can be an issue....

Hope dis clears u r doubt to some extent...

So basically I can only hope to start my course in fall next yr, which is more than a yr frm now. Wish I had had this realisation a few months earlier

I have a few queries lingering-on in my head, will be glad if someone could address them:

-The GMATPrep had 37 ques in QA and 41 in VA and yet I see ppl giving their scores out of 50 (or so it appears). So what is the mystery?:
-I understand ppl taking the test anytime in the next 6 months will be applying for the Feb-Mar session next yr which has very few intakes. Exactly how few r they and will I have to wait till August next yr for some serious consideration frm the Univs?


Will be a regular here frm now on and hope to make some good frnds along the way . Any1 frm bangalore can PM me if interested in teaming up, am put up in Koramangala. Will also check out the thread on the Bangalore study grp.

No specific plans as of now. Just planing to complete OG 11th edn and take the GMAT TestPrep 2 to assess my progress. Will give a few more tests and decide wht to concentrate upon gng further. Will then try to zero in on the date to take the test.

How's ur prep gng on? and when r u planning to take the test?

Already went through esnips... most of them are incomplete and not so useful.
