my application status has changed to "for interview". I have one query " Does this application status changes few days before they send us a pre interview questionnaire". If it does then i would have lost some time for preparing the interview, had i checked my admission status :(

As I said before, NTU doesn't have a fixed way of doing things...I have been wait-listed in early march after the interview and its still the same..so better stop worrying about the time you lost..concentrate on the time you have to prepare ...

it usually takes a few days, but it varies..there have been cases where people got final interview calls after a long wait..if you are applying to NTU then you will have to adopt the wait and watch policy..

Meaning all R1 applications are being compared to R2 , though not waitlisted and still under process.

No I am not a current student. I am an admit this year as well, just that I received the notification a month ago.

The registration is on 23 July for international candidates so they have asked to come a little before that. And yes the session will start around July end. Hope that helps.

Anyways I was also taking to an NUS graduate, graduating this year, that even in today's job market of Singapore, it is quite difficult to change industries. If u r planning to switch industries, then Singapore is not the place to b. FYI for ppl who have those plans

and the later part of your statement is correct.. that's what I have heard from my seniors/frnds working in Singapore... Singaporean companies prefer candidates who have had similar work experience before...

No fixed timelines for declaring results. In case you get selected, intimation will be through a mail from Nick Soriano, Director, Admissions.

In case you do not get the mail, status will be updated in the application portal.

EXACTLY! Many of us have lost or are losing interest very quickly. We have lives to live and other pressing things to attend to. If NTU's "professional" admissions staff cannot process applications and provide decisions in a timely manner nor even care to provide clear communications by the "end Mar" deadline, then we can only have passive interest in the process and in its eventual outcome. We care, but we gradually care less and less each day. I was thinking over the weekend about how, based on the way things are going, "yawn" is the most appropriate phrase to describe my interest in and enthusiasm for this process.

I have heard that placement scenario is not very encouraging at NBS especially if you wish to make a career switch. Can anybody throw some light..

@lpo: In general, these university admission micro-sites are infamous for displaying outdated information (no disrespect to anyone, i'm sure they have their reasons) - take the case of Hong Kong university where the HKU MBA page still shows last date of application as 31-Mar-2012 whereas I was sent an email by the university today about the date being extended to 15-Apr-2012.

But anyways, I just wanted to share what I was told by the office. Even I am not too confident about the extension. The worst part is, they might send a reply to me on Monday morning saying that what I "heard" was rubbish and that the applications are closed

The last date for application to Nanyang Full time MBA (Aug 2012 intake) has been extended to "April end". At least this is what I was told by the lady in the Admissions Office who answered the phone (I called the contact number mentioned in the "Application Status" page on the MBA admissions site). My colleague, who is also an applicant made a separate call to the 2nd number was also told "extend" and "April end" repeatedly (both the call attendants had difficulty speaking English).

I sent an email to the university mid-afternoon asking about this. They haven't replied yet, but it's already 7:30pm there (plus it's Friday) so I doubt they will get back today.

Is the last date for Nanyang MBA 2012 R2 intake extended to April end???

I guess there is nothing to worry as some sources have confirmed that R2 deadline has been extended to the end of April. So now you have all the time in the world to complete the application.

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is shameful that it is taking so long for the majority of R1 candidates to receive a definitive answer.

If some sort of definitive decision or explanation for why futher delay in making such a decision is needed beyond the end of March is not povided by the end of this week ("end Mar"), I and many of us still waiting will be seriously dejected and frustrated by the entire process!

I could understand some delay if the AdCom and Admissions Staff were largely comprised of full-time academic staff who had other teaching and research duties, but as most b-schools have professional full-time admissions staff who have no other responsibilities besides promotion of the program and evaluation of received applications, it is unconscionable to imagine that they could not even meet their own stated timeframe for delivering R1 results.

You see, I can understand waitlisting a certain percentage of received R1 applications, but this percentage should be quite low given that they have had, at the very least, 3 months to evaluate this pool of R1 applications!

I guess we have no othe choice but to continue playing along with this game, hoping that some decisions will be released by the end of this week. However, this instance yet again demonstrates that academic institutions, including b-schools, are far removed from the rigours and rapid timelines that characterize real business environments.

These operating behaviours further lead one to wonder about whether these institutions are actually able to adopt, implement, and benefit from the management theories that they purport to impart to matriculating students.

Anyway, having stated all of the above, I'm hoping that final decisions are not released until late May since that would be the best date for me. I have family members who are quite sick and in hospital so I can't afford to leave them to visit any of the schools that I still hope to be accepted to until later this spring.

In this case you can later mail Nanyang after you submit your application with reference no. & the details of the referees and ask them to confirm if they have received the report(s).

nothing is required to be sent, unless you have opted for offline recommendation letters (even in that case u need to send only signed letters, nothing else)..

Why don't they change my status from " Application Under Process" to "Application STILL under Process" , so that I am happy that at least something is happening with my application

I think they are evaluating people from other countries first because there are relatively fewer of them than the larger Indian applicant pool and NTU is afraid that is might not meet its diversity goals if it were to lose those applicants to other schools. Then again, it is already quite late in the admissions cycle and many applicants may have already commited to other schools. Given that I am a non-Indian, this doesn't bode well since I haven't received an admission offer. Finally, these are just my speculative thoughts. But yes, it looks like R1s notification decision is by default being pushed back to "end April" and that most Indians will likely be considered later on in the process. I still hope that some announcement will come by "end Mar" but this seems increasingly doubtful. Well, let's keep waiting a bit longer!
