I have got GMP admit and I had interview at Jamshedpur
Apart from huge brand value, there's nothing that we can talk about GMP
program
GMP is not highly recognized in India
GMP is not xlri's flagship program and doesn't get the attention from
xlri that it deserves
This year's placements have been worst just 20-30% so far.
Current students are very unhappy about the how program is conducted
No formal placments was conducted(Till last year it was conducted in
Mumbai)
( Jamshedpur )location disadvantage
Do people have strong reasons to negate these issues? Please share.
I would like to add some thoughts.
- Its not just XLRI, all the one year MBA programs (except ISB and maybe IIM pgpx) available in india today are inheriting their brand value of the institution where its being run.
- As far as the placements are concerned this seems to be discouraging, but none of the other schools have yet reported their placement numbers, so its difficult for somebody to distinguish between a one year from say IIM vs, ISB and XLRI based on placement numbers. But surely due to IIM brand value, they might be at and advantage. Plus the brand value is able to pull the top of the students who actually are a big factor in creating the whole brand value to IIM's and ISB's of the world.
- The way placements are conducted (in mumbai) sure is a disadvantage as the course is being conducted in Jamshedpur
- But as far as the way course is conducted only the students and alums are right judge to comment about the same
- I think ISB and XLRI are only two private institutions who have been able to make their mark versus the IIMs (who get the government subsidies in infrastructure, staff etc)
