My persuasion with adcom worked !!

I found out from adcom today that they will be conducting interviews in Chicago. They informed me that they have sent e-mails to the candidates regarding the same.

Can you please confirm receiving this ?

I hope this arrangement is suitable for all of you in US who are having difficulties in coming to India. Please do attend the interviews.

For my persistence, I will take a treat from you if you get admitted and join GMP !!! (Just kidding!)

I logged in again and checked. My answers were all out there. Pressed the SAVE buttons again and logged out.

P.S. - This is my 3rd attempt at logging in and logging out
Attempt 1 - Logged in and copied out all the Q's
Attempt 2 - Logged in and copied in all the A's
Attempt 3 - Was goin bonkers. So logged in again to check if the treasure was intact. yes, everything was in 1-piece. So clicked on all the SAVE buttons once more and logged out

Conclusion - Logging in multiple times shoudn't matter. Whether it does or not I donnno for sure.

Focused placements have been deferred to 23rd Feb due to poor market conditions. Rolling placements are going on, and will continue till the end of the course.

Things are grim, due to the worldwide meltdown, and GMP is not an exception.
Let's hope things get better soon.

I don't have much info on this. You may wish to speak to the director of
this centre Prof.A.K.Pani for more details.

On a general note on industry-academia exchange, we have some electives taught directly by industry professionals (e.g. from IBM, Stan Chart). We also have CEO forums where CEOs of leading companies address students on latest happenings in various industries (telecom, power etc.)

Very very unfortunate news for the international applicants. I can't understand the issues what XL Ad com is trying to address by introducing videoconf/ISDN thingy.

Another international candidate dropping-out. Hope the Ad Com realizes the agony we went through (not to mention the cost part $55 + $87).

Having said that there is no question of the quality of education @ XLRI. It's just that their operations need to be more streamlined.

Me Too, dropping out of it. It is pure cheating. I have wasted $50 for Fees, $15 for DD making, $35 for Courier and lost 2 months peace of mind hoping for it. Unfortunately, I have written and submitted essays too...

You guys should seriously consider Videocon facility available near your area.
Someone mentioned that this was available for around $250 per hour. I think this works out to around $60 for 15 minutes. This is reasonable, given the fact application fee to most US B-Schools is three-four times that amount.

Please research Videocon facility near your place and let me know. Institute is willing to call you on the number.

Maybe you guys can group together and bargain for a good rate from the same videoconf rental agency.

This videocon thingy is turning out to be really problematic.
1) The minimum duration for booking is 1 hour. And there really aren't enough people in a given location to share the really high costs of these rental facilities.
2) Other factor is the timing. Assuming the interview is during the IST daytime, it'd mean very late night or very early morning in the US time zones. Driving out to a facility at such hours isn't safe, plus the rental rates are even higher (500 USD!!).

If it is going to be a 15-20 min interview, then Skype/Yahoo should be fine, atleast for the video portion. The conversation can go on on telephone, isn't it?

I wish adcom would understand how difficult this entire scenario is becoming.

Well I was almost about to start working on the XLRI essayz.
Finally a touch of serendipity in my life, and I landed with a R2 Admit at ISB.

A much needed releif after being dinged at IIMLNC- IPMX.

I have decided to skip the i/v for GMP now.

ATB to every1 appearing for them, If I am correct the last date for essay submission was 15, so guess most of you would be giving the final touches now.

I can understand your problem. Unfortunately, Videocon is the only solution the admissions staff have to offer. They are ready to call you (incoming call for you) as long as you have an ISDN number somewhere. Please check this possibility.

I expressed my concerns with the adcom staff, but unfortunately it had no effect.

I got a call for Feb.28 for interview in The Ashok, New Delhi, am in NJ and requested them to allow telephonic interview through email and called up today because of no response. yup agree with you. They should have been a bit more flexible. My BM and GMP interviews are on 2nd and 4th Mar. Now not sure if I should stay in Chennai or shuttle back to Bangalore. Getting leave from office is also tough as I had recently taken a long vacation
