Hey Puys...

I am an aspirant for GMP-XLRI 2010 batch. I didn't get my interview letter on time and hence could not fill the questionaire. Does this impact my interview/my chance of converting the call.

Please advice. also can someone help me with the questions asked so that i can prepare a little for them before my interview.

The reply is no different from what I have said in my last post !
4.3 per me has less chance of any waiver too if XL is looking for 5 yrs ! But you may call up adcom when notification for admission comes up and ask abt ur individual case...

Probation would be counted as part of experience... But any training done in company, if part of course, would not be counted.
Yes, 5 yrs. is a must but you may call up XL adcom and ask if they can relax 2-3 months...

Is the 5 years of work ex, a mandate condition. Also, when it is said 5 yrs of manegerial work ex required. Does this mean your intial probation period in the company won't be counted. seniors please help. i m planning to apply for next year, but falling short by 3-4 months of work ex.

I don't think thats an issue as long as you have a genuine issue and you can convince the interview panel accordingly. Highlight the same in you essays too.

Would also suggest that if your medical condition permits, try doing some work, howsoever small it might be.

I have a query regarding the 30 month term residential Executive Post Graduate Program (Exec PGP) offered by the institute.
I would be interested to send my application for the upcoming batch but I am not able to find admission procedures and deadlines on the XLRI website.

Is this program currently being offered by the institute? Am not able to find much information on the website though.

The admission process is continuously evolving so it will be too early to say anything on it...check the PG and XL-webpages for notifications ...last year the date to submit the application was Jan-1st week....

Total work experience is 5 yr( as of now) with international work exp 1.3 yr.

No work exp in NGO.
27th june is the GMAT date.

Also, what is the last of application for the batch starting 2010 and date of start. I did not see any info on this.

HI Sujoy,

Target for 700+ if you want to be sure to get a call. (assuming other factors to be in ur favour). Since IT is the largest set of pool applying at schools, you need to have a higher score and something on your resume that differentiates you from others.

That dosent mean that getting 650 wont fetch you a call but the chances are reduced as each school would want to maintain a certain mean and range (you may wanna check each school' site for these stats).

Score around 650+ should be good to get a call for your profile. But mind it that it will depend on the respective profiles of the candidates applying next year....
Applying date will be published on web around Nov/Dec...keep checking the web...

Thanks so much P2here for replying so early... that was really helpful!!

Hmmm....let me try to answer each of your query below:

- The application date for 2010-11 is not published yet. You can start checking instt webpage from Nov-09 onwards.
- Before our batch, the applicants didn't have to write Essays. However, from current year, we had to submit the essays on getting an Interview call. But this can be changed again next year as the 1-year MBA admission process in India seems to be trying new things.
- XL-GMP fee is still on the lower side in comparison to other reputed 1-year MBA in India. And seeing the intensive schedule and splendid facilities for GMP-participants, institute will not be unjustified hiking fee(this is my personal view). But never know as XL takes education more as service than business. So wait till admission notification on this.
- There is no clear GMAT cut-off which can guarantee you an admission. Having a great profile with good essays can fetch you an admission in 650 and on other side an average profile/interview/essays can not gurantee a seat even on 730+. But more you have in GMAT, more you score points in admission process like anywhere else....

u see there are many - many applicant for a single seat. :)

regarding your profile-
hmmmm

you will have to write specific essays as to what is your motivation to do mba
and what is your goal motivation etc etc
the same will have to be done by you properly for xl ad com to see u properly
and in a new light

u have to flaunt talents, which are beyond the domain of acadmics

I am new in this forum, although I have been following the thread for quite sometime. I need help from the XL GMP seniors/new joinees.

My Profile:

Class X = 66 %
Class XII = 52%
Grad = 40%
Masters = 47%

Have 0.5 yrs exp in BPO and around 4 yrs in IT (an SME company) as Tech Writer.

I will change domain and will join a Agri & Rural Dev Bank in July at a junior level.

Haven't appeared in GMAT, but would appear in XAT.

I want to know whether I stand any chance to get into GMP in 2010, considering many selects are opting out for the recession. Although I know its almost impossible to get in, I would like your suggestion on how can I improve my chances, apart from a very high XAT score?

Pl dont get in to a comparision. I did enough research and my opinion is purly driven by Brand and ROI. If you have time, considering your work Ex, pl try to get a GMAT score of 700 or atleast 680 + and then try for IIM A, C, XL, IIM B, ISB & IIM L. For a one year course they are all in the same league. IIM A, XL and ISB scores little high on the course content and pedagogy putting together. Also compare the course fees before you take a call.

If you dont get these colleges then you can consider IIM I, SP Jains and Great Lakes.
