In the application form I have to fill in my preferred city. There's no option for Telephonic interview. My worrry is that if I pick a city I will need to come to India just for the interview.

Do not worry, if you are out of India, you will get an option for telephonic interview by sending an email to admission committee. This email needs to be sent once your name is shortlisted for interview. This list is generally published on the college website. I gave telephonic interview from USA by following the above process.
Telephonic Interview option is strictly for outside India candidates ( who work/reside outside India)

1> Academic scores are low
2> GMAT score is too low.

I would suggest that you re-take gmat and try to score as high as possible (700+ will be good).

Your selection will also depend on your performance in the interviews and the quality of your essays.

This is a typo in the form. We have informed the adcom to correct the same. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

During last years admission process, SPJIMR had conducted telephonic interviews for candidates based outside of India. I think they would continue to do the same.

You should have 5 years of work ex by Dec 2010. Its tough with 4.5 years of work ex, but if you have a good profile then you should give it a shot.

I think you have a good profile. Your 8 years of experience is certainly a plus. Make sure you try to bring out your vast experience in SPJIMR application form. If you are able to communicate all this then your CAT score should not be a problem.

Somebody please confirm the authenticity of this
"ADcom won't look at your GMAT scores while shortlisting your applications
for interviews. Shortlisting is done entirely on the basis of profile and GMAT
score doesn't play any role in it whatsoever. GMAT score will come in handy only at the time of interviews."

You meet the work ex requirment, but it is difficult to comment on the profile without knowing GMAT score and whiat kind of experience you have.

As far as GMAT validity goes, our batch did not have a restriction of 2 year etc.. they just wanted a valid GMAT score ( GMAT validity is 5 years). This may/may not change from this year. We need to wait till the admission procedure is updated on the college website by adcom.

U will never get call with CAT 2008 as dey ll not accept.

XAT 2009 ll not work as same as CAT 08. bad luck with 77 percentile and XAT 09 year 2009:(

U must hv to try GMAT before July 2010 to get SPJ PGPM call..

I know that the CAT/XAT scores are accepted but i wanted to clarify whether CAT score of CAT taken in 2008 is acceptable for PGPM starting Jan 2011 or not as i didnt give CAT in 09 or XAT score was 77%ile in 2009 (i do not want to apply on this as i will never get a call)

How is it different from the Group Interviews for 2 yrs PGDM, as here, there are 2 rounds of Interviews?
Is there a Psychometric Test?

GMAT score will be used in later stages of your application processing. If you do not have a GMAT score by the time you apply, you will still have some time to take the same. The exact date till which you can take GMAT will be officially communicated on the college website. But it's generally post the application submission deadline.

looking at the past application form it seems that you have to state at the time of application in which area you want to specialise. I was wondering if all my previous work experience is in IT but I say I want to specialise in Finance (rather than say Information Management which would be more logical) will this affect my admission prospects adversely

You should be able to justify your decision. There is no restriction on the specialization you choose. As long as you can support your decision you should be okay. I believe you have some relevent experience / exposure to finance.
Again - it is strongly advisable to leverage on your experience else you may need to compromise on the salary/role you will get at the end of the program.

This is web based learning with regular Q&A; sessions with faculty over the internet. There is a exam at the time of joining the regular classroom sessions to evaluate your pre foundation learning. Yes, you can do it while you are working.

3. For Jan 2011 batch, up to when we can do the job DEC 2010 or more..
You can work till the course starts (Jan 15th)...but you may want to leave the job by Dec 2010 or earlier so that you get time to plan your relocation / other activities.
4. wats average CAT score & GMAT score , experience for current batch. how many seats are for Information management -PGPM.
Average Exp is ~6 years, 35 seats are for IT ...but the seats allocation may change from batch to batch.

Although commenting on a profile is highly subjective and may not 100 % match with adcom thought process, you do have a promising profile to be called for interview. But please beware, you will compete with many other students with similar profiles. Best of luck!

SPJAT score is not considered for PGPM admission. You need a valid GMAT/CAT/XAT score.

The selection criteria for calling candidates for interviews are based on multiple factors like:

1. CAT/XAT/GMAT score

Can you please throw some light on the avg. salary offered to PGPM passouts? I looked for it on the SPJ website, but couldn't find.

Range and average will not be the right measure for this kind of evaluation. As we have multiple specializations, the intake salary range is high. This affects the average eventhough we get 70 to 100 % increase in salary individually.
The exact official stats will be released soon on the college website.
