First of all, if you dont think placements are convincing, thn u shld not think of applying....

Seconly u dont have a choice of cjhoosing the options- april intake has Toronto option and Nov intake has Sydney option. For goin at ny of these places, u will have to mention it on application and there is a selection round at sp jain for the same. Only a few students go thr.

your gmat score is above 650 , and i dnt see any issues with it,hwoever the call for interview/evaluation also depnds on you work exp,your overall profile and the specilisation that u applied for...

Well! To not join or to join is your call. I belive that you would have done a good amount of research before applying to SPJCM 'n if you didn't do so ... then its high time buddy (An MBA is all about making the right decisions at the right time n this would be your first decision - no offence!)

My opinion is: in India can u ask for a better exposure (two international cities: the most sought after business destinations), new 'n exciting cultures); an amazing class made up of like minded people, lots to share, networking opportunities in the places where it really matters... and the Brand; now don't forget abt the AMBA accrediation too

So when is your evals round and all the best...

What are you talking about? Pros and cons of PMM and SMM? its purely personal decision. Everyone wil have their own assessment about it. U need to question urself as to what excites u the most. get to know the companies for both types. get to know the job profiels, get to know how it wud be 5- 10 yrs from now, what people with those careers do.. and most importantly how u would like to see urself in that time. Ur background and many others things also play a crucial role in deciding.

u get a mail and most of the times, it gets updated on the website too. But mail is more dependable.

Loan process is a personal decision. I would strongly advice to go with banks where u know someone who can get things done quickly. Otherwise its diff to get a loan in less than 3-4 weeks even if u have all the docs ready (Assuming that u ppl have got about a month to send the money).

having said that there are obvs advantages of going with tie-ups but its a very painful process, atleast few ppl in my batch and I had very horrible exp in the loan process since we didnt know anyone.

Long and short, get hold of a person who can process ur loan app really quickly and peacefully.

U need to send a mail to them stating the same. tehy will send you a mail. In that it will be mentioned. u need to pay a init amount of 2.5K USD or something.

Essays:
An instance when you were trapped in the ethical dilemma and the other on the Failiure.

The case study was on the Mac donalds. How they are providing unhealthy food to the children. It was around 4-5 pages but was very easy.

Panel Interview:

1. You are in the product development so tell me about the different phases in development of the product.
2. Why MBA and that to why marketing.
3. How do you feel SP Jain is going to help you achieve you long term goals.
4.Which company do you wish to get in after MBA and then few questions on that company.
5. Then a few questions on electronics like what is the difference between LED TV LCD TV and plasma TV.I believe that was because i told him that i want to get into consumer electronics field.
6. i had initially joined a marketing company after my BE for 2 months then a few questions on that.
7. Then how Honeywell is helping to contribute to the environment.
8. Then i am active member of CSR and with Local NGO' s so a few questions on that.

All in all i felt that one needs to believe what he is saying. Try to be clear as in why one is choosing the specialization.

Interview with the Dean was easy and was much of a HR kind. He asked me to explain in detail what i exactly do and then y SP JAIN.

So guyz best of luck for you evals round.

yes i think you will have the choice for deferment. once you are selected then at the time you confirm the admission at that time you need to request them to defer you admission. No you dont need to go another round to defer it.

do we really have the choice to defer the admit.If yes then when can we actually do it and do we have to go through another evaluation if we defer it.

i think no more calls for november 09 intake...

well i wanted to know the companies which recruited for retail management (apart from retail companies).on your website it is not mentioned specializationwise.

Best of luck for your evaluations. I made got into IBWM. My evaluation round was on the 20th September 2009. Its been a long time since then and i should have posted my experiance long time back however its better late than never. Needless to say i was nervous, reported 30 mins prior to my scheduled time i.e 10 A.M (earlier the better). Was taken to hall where my certificates were verified and was alloted case studies and essays. My case study was on Warren Buffet and was set up in 1999 just when the IT bubble burst in the US.
Case Study Brief:
Warren Buffet had said in order to achieve high returns post 1999 in the stocks markets to the tune of 15-25%, which was advised by inexperianced players 3 things need to hold good. 1) Interest rates should fall 2) Corporate profits should stay stable to 5 to 6% 3) One must invest in companies which have competitive advantage over its peers in the industry. Of the 3 conditions 1st two did hold good, but still the returns could not be realized.
q) Do you think the situation will hold good in todays market condition?

I would like to warn you that the case study is very very important and is one that would play a very important role in your selection. Be comprehensive and well aware of what you write in it. It has to make sense. The essays were on recession and personal achievement. I could not complete the PA essay, but as my case study and essay on recession were good, i sailed through. The panel interview was very friendly. Was mainly on my application form, the case study, my past experience and future plans. The best i can advice you is be prepared with 3 questions.
Why MBA? Why SP Jain and Why your chosen specialization?
Dont be complacent until your final interview. The person just reaffirms the facts you have mentioned in your forms.

Check the website for info on companies. One of the top companies has come for Projects. Hence, I dnt find any reason why other good companies wont come. Profiles and all are too specific, will be diff to tell as my seniors's placement has jus started. anyway, dnt expect profiles of IIMs or Isb's. it will be a notch below them or if u are good enuf.. may be u can bag a good one. it majorly depends on how your interview goes..

I applied for GMBA on Sept 11th , I havent recieved a mail for an eval yet and the website shows that 11th OCt is the last round of eval for Nov '09 intake.

I am a little confused here , my application status has yet not been updated too. also I have a friend who applied on sept 29th and as i can see mostly people got eval offers between 1st - 5th Oct.......

Is this the end of the road for me ? or there is going to be another eval ? I know it is a dumb question as the site already says "last round " .
