I'm new to this thread. Like most of you, even i am an aspirant for SPJCM GMBA. I have a few concerns regarding the admission to the program and also on job opportunities after completion. My biggest concern is regarding my work profile, which has't been on a smooth path.

My Profile:
10th: 85%
12th 82%
B.E(Mech): 73%
EC's: Decent
GMAT: 660
Work Ex: July 2005 - Jan 2007:Family Business(Retail)
Feb 2007 - Mar 2009: IT(Cognizant)
April 2009 - till Date: Family Business(Retail)

The problem is i had to resign my IT job and join my family business due to personal reasons. Now tht things have settled down for me, i wish to pursue an MBA, a long time dream, and get back to a corporate job.
I'm planning to apply for the Nov 2010 intake.

Having explained my profile, i would like to know,
1. Whether such a broken work ex profile of mine would interest the adcom. 2. Do companies recruit students who have had family business experience rather than corporate experience. Where there any students in the past who had business xperience and then found a job post GMBA?
3. SPJCM GMBA has 2 intakes: April and November. I'v heard tht students of the April batch get better placements than the ones in Nov. How far is this true??

I would truly appreciate if any Past/Present student of SPJCM could clarify my doubts. Thnx in advance!!

dicey... there is no comparison with the # of companies that are coming this yr versus next year... so as far as our coll is concerned, economic outlook is a major factor for the quality & quantity of companies coming for placements.

Last yr, it was pinnacle of recession, so dnt even ask about FIN placements, Nov 08 batch (which passed on nov 09), as u might know were not that great either... but apr 09 we got decent placements. I cannot reveal the companies name but i can tell you one thing which i have mentioned in my prev posts (check page 22 or somewhere around it....) - dont expect a huge Jump in salary. SPJCM will not work wonders to your salary. However, there are many instances where people are satisfied with their salary but its purely personal judgement as to how good is good to you, how decent profile is decent to you...

my 2 cents,
it will be very diff for you to save a dime for atleast 1-2 yrs.. u can live life king size.. but cant expct to save a dime.. If u are expecting to save some money with deccent living after paying the emi... -- depends on your capability to get the right job

First, he was earning 4 L before and later got an offer for 12 L (difference here is that placement scenario at that time was better).
Second, I think a lot depends upon how you tackle the interview and other selection procedures of the company who has come to recruit you on campus.
FYI, I too have an offer for ACFBM for april 2010, and no doubt I am going to take it up...And yes, you have mentioned loan in ur message. can you help me regarding the same? can u plz tell the details of where and how you secured it? thanks.....

1) see, there isnt a specific placement for SMM as such. If the job role is tooo specific, then the companies themselves mention about the streams. but remember no other college has streams and companies go to every other college. Hence usually any1 can apply.
Just another info - any job posting is sent across both the campuses. so even after doing smm/pmm/retail or watever, u wanna work with fin companies, u have an option, regardless to say u obvs need to meet companies criteria, need to convince them the choice of ur stream and why u are shifting to another stream blah blah.

to answer your qn,see my prev post about placements.

2)whether ur prev job experience will be considered will depend purely on the job role which u are applying. its a big plus to have IT background for IT buss developemnt roles. however what backgroun, what industry etc etc need to be considered.

placement for Apr 09 has picked very decently. U just cant compare it with Dec 08 batch. its that much better. However, our placement week stats only in Mar. so dnt wanna do loose talk on salaries and companies.

toronto is out. u cant opt for it as they have now tied up with SPJIMR (correct me if i am wrong)

sydney is also out for Nov 09 batch. what we came to know unofficially from college is because of racist attacks. so, am not too sure what will happen for you guys.

First of all, if you dont think placements are convincing, thn u shld not think of applying....

Seconly u dont have a choice of cjhoosing the options- april intake has Toronto option and Nov intake has Sydney option. For goin at ny of these places, u will have to mention it on application and there is a selection round at sp jain for the same. Only a few students go thr.

your gmat score is above 650 , and i dnt see any issues with it,hwoever the call for interview/evaluation also depnds on you work exp,your overall profile and the specilisation that u applied for...

Well! To not join or to join is your call. I belive that you would have done a good amount of research before applying to SPJCM 'n if you didn't do so ... then its high time buddy (An MBA is all about making the right decisions at the right time n this would be your first decision - no offence!)

My opinion is: in India can u ask for a better exposure (two international cities: the most sought after business destinations), new 'n exciting cultures); an amazing class made up of like minded people, lots to share, networking opportunities in the places where it really matters... and the Brand; now don't forget abt the AMBA accrediation too

So when is your evals round and all the best...

Have any idea about how are they gonna give us the visas? Like are they multiple entry visas? They haven't taken the Original Passport and just the photocopies... so a bit confused. I did ask the ladies in the office but they weren't sure about the info? :s
