Singapore is a banking and finance center. Most Finance and Banking MNCs tend to have regional offices in Singapore. In general, many of the jobs MBAs get are in Banking and Finance related functions. It doesn't mean people don't get jobs in sectors other than banking and finance or in functions ...

Thank you nothing for your detailed post. Is Singapore a good option for all funcions of management or management consulting or you would say it's good only for finance related jobs?
Singapore Management University, over the last 5 years has gained a good reputation in Singapore, But MBA is very new and it is a 12 month course, I think; fee is high- S$50,000 or there abouts.

The first batch of SMU MBAs will graduate by the end of this year. Only then can you have an idea of the placements. Till then you can take NUS and NTU MBA placements as proxy.

It is not true that MBAs from NUS and NTU get the same jobs as LOCAL undergards; MBAs do get weightage for their work experience and their qualification, but not as much as they deserve.

SMU does give preference to local students (Permanent Residents & Singaporeans) for admissions into their university at this point. Like you said earlier, SMU wants to concentrate on the locals before it expands the program to international students.

The first full time batch starts in Jan 2009; but the some thing called Fexi batch ( I guess, part time batch)started in August 2008.

The first batch of full time MBA students started their study in Jan 2008 and will complete their study in December 2008.
(It is the flexi-time / part time MBA program that starts in September every year)
