I am in the process of applying for the SMU MBA program .I am applying on the basis of my GRE score . When I try to submit my application I am getting the message 'Either Date of GMAT taken or Date of Registered GMAT is required. (32701,184)'. Can you please help on this ?

Hello SMU_Singapore, I wanted to know whether there is a discrimination between local and foreign students in terms of jobs in Singapore. Please let me know of the same.

Well No. Let me give you some context as you may have read some article somewhere and may not be able to make complete sense. Yes, there are certain restrictions on foreign labour in Singapore. But those restrictions apply only to "blue collar" jobs. They don't apply to PMET positions.

(PMET is a definition of P rofessionals, M anagers, E xecutives and T echnicians).

I am a bit confused on sending the recommendation letters? My referees are in the USA. Is there a way they can email you the letters from their official mail IDs.

As I had mentioned previously we don't track whether an international student (anyone who is not a Singaporean) has gone back to his/her country of origin after MBA. Some (and I don't mean only Indian students) do go immediately after finishing MBA for various reasons such as - (a) would have taken sabbatical from his/her previous job, (b) his/her MBA could have been sponsored by the employer and he/she was supposed to join them after that , (c) he/she were already running a business in his/her home country prior to MBA or were part of family business and always wanted to go back to the same once MBA is finished, (d) family/personal reasons. There are some who work for few years in Singapore, gain meaningful global experience and exposure and go back to their home country.

We definitely track the industries in which our students get placed and if you would like I could share that information for the MBA class of 2011 with you. Please let me know your email Id.

Apologize for the delay in response as I was traveling and had limited access. Here are my responses to your queries

: I have no clue who is "smuguy". I represent the Office of Post Graduate Professional Programmes of SMU and MBA is one of the programmes that I look after.

: Yes we do.

( This is important because one can find job after returning to India and can boost the overall placement statistics, hence considering the numbers placed in Singapore is important as SMU brand may not be of assistance in the Indian market)

: We don't believe in "boosting" our placement figures. Most of our MBA students (and other post graduate students as well) get placed in Singapore. Btw, your statement itself is contradictory, if our students can go back to India and find the job (that too a job that can help in boosting the overall placement statistics as you say), then surely we are a considerable brand in India right?

> Regarding the academics, I agree that the quality is excellent, but I am not of the same opinion when it comes to the placements at SMU.

: Why don't you check it our yourself at linkedin to get an idea about the kind of roles that SMU MBAs are playing in the industry.
