Guys a question. Does the NUS form ask for Last salary?

I feel the college is playing too safe in selecting the candidates.. why should candidates face the brunt alone....

I dont think the delaying tactics will always help get the best candidates..

I feel they need to re-look at the selection process

I have a theory on this.
In case you feel you are a better candidate than others than don't worry. Even after delay you will surely get the coveted admit. Just chill!
In case you are worried that you are surely not the best and a delay from the school will be a dent to your chances as better candidates apply than again you can do nothing about it. So Just chill!
In both the cases the common part is Just Chill!
So mate if nothing is in our hand than just chill chill just chill

Reason : NUS has too many applicants to choose from..I guess its the highest in the last 4 yrs or so..So they would want to offer admission to people who will surely accept it; would not want to delay the process.

You having an offer, would not change your application...Yes B schools always want the best candidates, but there are always better candidates than you knocking the door.

Just my view..If I had an admit and had to make a decision real quick, I would have surely told them in the interview..I guess you would have/should do the same.

All Internatioinal B Schools these days are prefering younger students than they did a decade ago

They are taking their time to declare results for 2 reasons :

1) they are waiting for the students who have been offered admission to submit the acceptance fee

2) there are too many interviews lined up..so they can't just accept you and reject a good candidate..and also they can't waitlist today and after a week say we grant you admission..

Due to rolling admission of NUS, both these factors are bound to happen till NUS keeps on processing applications. They will wait for admitted students to pay the deposit and also conduct interviews continuously...A probable solution could be having rounds such as other schools. In that scenario all the R1 guys will get the decisions on a pre-decided day. Even this comes with its share of frustration for the applicants.

At the end of the day, we all are impatient people. The moment we submit the application and/or finish our interview, we want our decision as soon as possible. Sometimes(most of the times rather), destiny forces us to wait.

They are taking their time to declare results for 2 reasons :

1) they are waiting for the students who have been offered admission to submit the acceptance fee

2) there are too many interviews lined up..so they can't just accept you and reject a good candidate..and also they can't waitlist today and after a week say we grant you admission..

I was interview on 13th Mar.. I was told 2-3 weeks... But I am seeing some people have been waiting for interview results since past one month.

This is really bad. I think this is how it happens in rolling admissions.

5000 Euros translates to some 3.3 L, that's a big sum. Are you considering accepting IESE by paying 5000 Euro and then waiting for NUS. In the case later offers an admit, let go the acceptance fee given to IESE... Seriously buddy, I am replying to this by keeping my heart and any type of financial mathematics aside...

this year though i have applied only to NUS. In the event i don't get an admit this year. I am thinking of applying to multiple B-Schools next year.. and if by luck i get an admit from one of those B-Schools and incidently i fall in such situation.. I will be ready with experience of some people...

Well I am hoping for a result from NUS before due date.. if no I'll take what I have in hand... cant gamble 5000 euros... lets see..

If I am not wrong Average pay in NUS is around 60K USD. Though Taxes are less in Singapore and in case you are placed in asian countries -- but Pay wise NUS is a bit low.. And there could be low of pros and cons...

As the peron here (aaryapar) has confirm admit from IESE and has to take a call by 20th April..
I feel if NUS does not replie by 20th about final results -- so aaryapar is left with two options --
Take a risk for NUS final answer and let go IESE
Take an Admit in IESE and close the NUS chapter

Are you saying that applicants who never applied for the S3 program received invites? I applied only foe the NUS FT MBA. Now it seems stupid to not have applied for the others!

Yes, in previous years' threads, one can read about how some rejected/waitlisted applicants were invited to take up the S3 Asia MBA program. But if one is not prepared or interested in moving to a different school every term, this program is hardly ideal. It suits me fine and I speak Chinese, Korean, and Malay/Indonesian, as well as some other SE Asian languages, so it would suit me just fine. I am still amazed why a quicker decision has not been made on my application to this program, as well as to another NUS double MBA program, especially since these programs do not receive as many applications as does the NUS MBA one and especially since the admissions criteria is thus not as high as for the NUS MBA.

Finally, why anyone would want to live and work in Europe is shocking to me. The continent is a mess and life is tremendously expensive and boring there. Nonetheless, if NUS doesn't respond quickly enough, I would take the IESE offer and pursue it. But Spain is a horrible economic basketcase at the moment and has little prospects for improvement within the disastrous Eurozone experiment that has failed miserably.

So Unless you find a job in Swiss (which is one of the lowest taxed countries in the world), it will take you years before you can pay back the loan. Now for INSEAD grads, average salary in Europe(excluding swiss and UK) is 80K Euro. With 80k, salary your in hand will be between 45 and 50k. And because of 21% VAT, Europe is extremely expensive place to stay. So I think NUS is far far better option than IESE.

And because of 21% VAT, Europe is extremely expensive place to stay. So I think NUS is far far better option than IESE.

If i Compare two business school I believe IESE has much better ranking than NUS. But I think IESE is costly as well (not sure though). NUS is in ASIA where the spotlight is currently. IESE though in Europe which is suffering from Economic crisis. I don't believe institute of such a repute will not have good placements --- I think downturn is the best time for genius to show up, because when the economy is on high ride even mediocre gets good opportunities... But when economy plunges you know what happen't at B Grade to C Grade college placements.. Take the example from India itself -- IIMs/SP Jain etc did well even after 2008 Lehman Collapse...

Lets hope you have an NUS MBA admit before 20th April. In case you don't have a certain answer from NUS, If I were at your place I would have gone ahead with IESE.

I sent a mail to the adcom enquiring about the date of announcing the results for waitlisited candidates.
Got a response stating that it will be between April-June, depending on the strength of the candidates application.
No idea how to respond to this kind of a response.
I think the only option left for us is severe prayer and seeking forgiveness for our sins!

Hmm.. Consider an applicant : 24F/3yrs WE/Finance(myself). Lets say a SIMILAR application comes through in R2. Even if I have a strong application, I will have to wait through the entire shortlisting-interview-decision phase of the R2 applicant, just for them to be sure to give my wait-list decision!!

Also, I noticed that last year some of the S3 Asia applicants received acceptances by early April, first week. As you might know, some applicants who were waitlisted for the NUS MBA and/or even rejected for the program, were invited to join the S3 Asia MBA program. Of course, as someone who selected the S3 Asia program as my #1 choice (and the PKU-NUS as my close #2 choice) and the NUS MBA as my #3 choice, I would be really disappointed if applicants who weren't initially interested in the S3 Asia program were to be invited to join it!

For 3 months notice period, have you informed your reporting manager about this situation? If not inform him diplomatically. Wait for march to get over because this is the time when we get our variable pay/ salary revision etc.

In general when you say you are going for higher studies companies are not hell bent on 3 months. At the maximum you will have to pay for basic salary of 2 months. I feel that should be worth.

But in all, I agree that NUS should have analyzed all such scenarios before coming to a conclusion of saying that results will be out by April-Jun for wait listed candidates.

I have also not applied to any other B-School, I am interviewed on 13th march and I somehow feel i have less chance as i buckled on some of the scenario questions.

Next I am making this a point that I will apply to Some three institutes which declare results by Jan-Feb so that we have enough time to run around for loan-visa etc...

Anyway all the best and believe that things will run smoothly.

I don't know about you guys but I don't believe in divinity nor have I ever done anything wrong, which is why I also don't go to church nor have ever asked forgiveness for any sins! I thus recommend that we maintain a positive outlook, re-assert our strengths to the adcom, and contact them once the R2 deadline ends to encourage them to move forward with our applications. Prayer, like witchcraft and sorcery, will get one nowhere. I also think that it would be interesting to identify what sets us apart from other candidates. Ideally, we would know what common aspects NUS found appealing about the accepted candidates and try to display/highlight our similar qualities. Given that obtaining this information is rather difficult if not impossible to ascertain, I recommend that we "stick to our guns" and instead highlight the positive aspects of our own profiles and the corresponding value and benefits that we could bring to the incoming class. If anything, we should pray that NUS increases its efficiency and timeliness in making decisions and is, accordingly, more responsive to applicants! Good luck to all!

I completely agree on the part of being positive, but I also do think prayer with a positive outlook and efforts helps. There is new field science coming up - Neotics. Give it a shot. You might like it

I dont think NUS has started reviewing any R2 candidates. They will probably start doing it form mid or last April. So, my assumption is the waitlisted candidates will hear from NUS sometime in mid May..which is way too far. In case( hope is a good thing) I get into NUS and the communication comes in early or mid june( which cannot be earlier , i guess), I will face a big trouble cuz it is imperative that I serve 3 months of Notice period in my current company. In a fix :-/

ok ...now things getting very complicated for me.. got an admit mail from IESE Spain ... they have given me time till 20th April to accept offer........ hmmmm... I have already mailed NUS to speed-up my interview process but they have not yet fixed up i/v date.... I cant let go of a B school like IESE ....and NUS seems to be taking ages ... in a fix.. what to do guys....any advise...
