You could ask anything under the roof about the program, its curriculum, the school, university, the city, facilities available, career opportunities and so on. Remember that whatever you ask them revels the level of understanding that you already have basing on which you've decided and applied for this program. So you got to understand what the program has got for you before you ask any questions. Do go through the degroote website thoroughly and skim through all the statistics that they have put forth. You could then get a good idea of what more information you are interested to know in order to decide on taking the offer or not, in case you pass the interview.

Please note that this interview is not just for you, it is also the responsibility of the interviewer to sell DeGroote as great place for business education. Hence feel free and ask whatever you want to know from them.

Well, there is nothing specific with respect to interview questions, you could be asked a couple related to any current affair from the business domain . Apart from this, its a behavior based interview as said earlier. DO not ponder on what exactly would be asked, just go through the model questions which are available on the internet . Know the kind of questions that will be asked and apply the STAR methodology to answer each of the B-based questions. All the best.

Congrats for the offer.

The average age of the DeGroote class is least compared to that of other premium B-schools, which means DeGroote MBA students are least experienced top notch MBA grads available in the market. This is the prime factor that I feel reflects in those crucial statistics. I understand that MBA grads have no limit for achievements, their starting salaries range from 45k to 90k, which is a really wide gap. I feel really experienced quality international students cal pull it off well at DeGroote, depends on individual's confidence.

Keeping in mind that finding jobs is a tough ask for international students across Canada , and your field of interest being IT, I suggest you be close to the Toronto region. Though Haskayne boasts of all round employment opportunities, I still somehow feel Calgary is the best place in the country only if you intend to get into natural resources and related stuff.

Again, the current offer from Degroote is not the best possible one for your field of interest, but I feel is simply the better of the 2.

Got the Offer Letter today.I was offered admission for the full time Program with a 2k Scholarship. Couldn't get through into the co op program. Last day to respond is April 25.

Confused a bit whether to proceed with De Groote or to go with Haskayne.

DeGroote:Fee: 57k Scholarship 2k
Pros: Located near the financial capital of canada, so good job market.
Cons: Full time MBA strength too small.10 out of 30 got full time job(33%)
not much focus on IT Specialization. Couldn't get a Indian student alumni contact in an IT Organization from Carrier Services Dept.MIS Specialisation so lean.

Haskayne: Fee 56k Scholarship 11.5k
Pros: Good base salary.
Easy to obtain to get PR.
Cons: In Calgary, still a growing city where opportunities are less.Predominant occupation based on Oil&Natural; Gas.
Almost all International students didn't get any intern this year.

So confused.In need of some help.

Though I was prepared for the interview, I couldn give my best shot.Adding to that, I had some internet connectivity issues during the call.
The one question which I got stuck was- Tell me about the recent business news which you heard of in the past week . International News.
Result will be announced in another 2-3 weeks. Cat on wall as of now.

My plan is to get offer from DeGroote, with Haskayne as a backup one.

I gave my medicals on 24th and was ready to apply for VISA until today when a consultant at Chennai told that I cannot apply until 90 days before the start date. I found it a little senseless as the CIC website requests candidates to beat the queue by applying as early as possible. Check the fourth question in this page:

It says apply as soon as you get the offer of admission. I feel the information available in the CIC website is the most legitimate to be believed. Anyways, I also mailed the Embassy in Delhi regarding this, I shall update you with their answer as soon as I get it.

When are you planning to apply for the study permit? I want to start off right away but I am not sure if I can do that...Most site recommend to apply as early as possible, but some people have told me that we need to apply only three months before our start date. In any case I am planning to apply by mid April. Let me know when you are going to apply.

Thats really great, I got it for tradition MBA, I didn't apply for co-op since I though it might dilute the educational quality.

Its most likely not going to dilute the quality of education because neither the courses nor the faculty are different for the full time and the coop programs. It might extend the period of study making it a long endeavor to pursue but again bestows with invaluable 12 months of Canadian work experience before you apply for your first job . I personally have done my graduation with a similar model of curriculum and believe me, once you start putting into practice what you have learnt in the class, one- you start liking the subject more than ever and two- your depth of knowledge increases. So definitely its a positive sign as per my experience and intuition. Also, I have spoken to a couple of current DeGroote students and they say that the coop program is much more challenging for international students and it does reap considerable benefits. Again, its just a help and not a guarantee for any kind of job or career, it all lies in one's confidence and performance.

I heard that burlington is a little deserted... and that hamilton is the best place for students with respect to proximity to the Univ and essentials for living.

this depends on the career path you would like to pursue and the experience before MBA, any way after completing the Co OP MBA you should have gained a valuable 1 year of experience, hopefully in the career your aiming for, this is what i thought when I applied for the program.

I think CFA is just offshoot of what we will be studying in MBA. CFA need extensive study hours..agreed... but look at the pros
There will be best qualified professors to clear your doubts, n you will be in THE study environment unlike in any job. After doing research I realized getting just MBA degree in finance is not enough..one has to be equipped with many other certificates to survive in this cut-throat competition.

hey.. the only advantage that I feel DeGroote has got over Schulich is its Coop option. 3 Coop work terms apart from monetary advantage, give you an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the Canadian work culture and some great points to add to your resume which take your chances of getting placed to a really high figure. Recently I spoke to the Schulich admissions coordinator and she opined that placements are tough for international students, but doable. Apart from this, I guess Schulich is more reputed than DeGroote and has higher average salaries for outgoing students. DeGroote's average experience of incoming students is about 1 year while that of Schulich is 3-5 years. I guess this is the main reason for DeGroote's lower salary average. In case you have a good amount of experience under your belt, getting placed should not be a considerable problem.
