I have joined all the groups started for Kelley 2010 MBA students on Facebook and on orkut as well. But no one seems to be breaking the ice and introducing him/herself. Though i see some intros on orkut but facebook is pretty passive.

So lets make these groups a bit more active and introduce ourselves. It will be great if we mention our current locations as well so that if possible we can catch up before embarking on our long journey towards MBA.

I joined Pagalguy a bit late and hope there will me many more like me. So, guys/gals, lets start interacting a bit more from the admissions & VISA processes, perspective as well.

Next thing on my list is to apply for the I-20 , does anyone know to whom do I have to send the bank account statements and also what other details or forms have to be sent or filled ??

I can try to answer some of the questions you all have in India,,,

1) For finaid, you can contact Tim Smith smithtim@indiana.edu or 1-800-994-8622.
Usually, you should get all the finaid info in the package. I couldn't get any info before. But, Tim is a good guy and should be able to help you.

2) No, you cannot get Indiana residency for 2nd year, so no relief in tuition. This is first hand information from Tim because I am also a non Indiana resident.

3) If you are F1 visa, you cannot work offcampus. You can only work on campus for maximum 20 hours.

4) Someone asks about Vandy and IU. I also had this choice with 30k schol from Vandy.
Vandy is great in Finance (I banks etc) but IU is more known for corporate Finance and ofcourse Kelley is better in marketing and top 10 in operations. But I have been to Vandy and I must say I was impressed. So, you will be good either way. Just see what fits your goals.

I am a late entrant to this thread. I have received my admit yesterday and have a few questions about kelley MBA specifically and some general questions. Please help me on these if you can:

1) I have a IT Consulting background and want to switch to Business Consulting. Though Kelley is good in marketing, what insights did you get about the consulting program and the job scenario after MBA in this domain?

2) How much time does an international student (on F-1 visa) gets after the completion of MBA to stay in the US and search for a job?

Has anyone any update on the Non US cosigner Loan provided by Kelley. It was supposed to be out by Feb end but have no news as yet.

My first post on this thread and am glad its finally not a "Ding-Dong"...I too have been selected to be at KELLY..though i had given up the hopes considering my past 4 univ results. But i feel it was a perfect Birthday Gift yesterday, but still have to see the admissions packet and the aid (if any)..

How long does it take for the admission packet to reach candidates in India?..oh forgot one main thing ..my introduction:

GMAT: 740
Qual: B.Tech (Computers) with Honors
Exp: 5yrs, Working as Senior Consultant with Oracle India, Previous experience was with
GE Capital as a consultant.
Extracurri: Member of corporate teams, particiated in Cricket and Football tourneys with
good results. Have volunteered in Social service through Societies in GE and
ORacle.

I have not yet accepted the admission to Kelly , but I will be going to soon before the end of this month. I think once you pay the 500$ deposit you will get access top the forms to be filled up for I-20 .

how is the reputation of the school in the US (other than Mid west). Is kelley brand is well recognised?
Do recruiters at Kelley help in sponsoring international students to get H1?

Finance is comparable with Marketing, and it is esp. good for international students because Consumer Marketing firms prefer domestic candidates while corporate finance firms are equally open to all and same is the case with Business marketing firms.

As far as my experience goes, Kelley brand is fairly well recognized but I may be baised because I have lived in Indianapolis for 4 years.

OFCOURSE recuriters sponsor H1's for international students. There is no other way to work in US and believe me, most of the international students want to work in US. If the firms were not sponsoring H1's none of the international students will be pursuing their MBA. You need to do a through research before you decide to start preparing for this journey. You seem to have very little knowledge of how this whole MBA thing works.

If you are decided about the school, start looking for apartments NOW!!!!!! Good apartments go fast. August 08 will be way too late. The lease is generally for 1 yr and probably you may sign it for 2 years too.

I would recommend that, if possible, you should come for the experience day/weekend and get to know the school better. It would help you make an informed decision.

The interest rate for this loan and the laons available in India are comparable. Infact IU loan should offer you better terms. Having said that due to the nature of the markets and economy the interest rates fluctuate a lot and it would be finalized only in the month of July/August. You should get in touch with Tim Smith at the Kelley MBA office for more details.

I am pleased to say that i have decided to join Kelley over Krannert (YAY! )

I have vsited the campus twice actually (once during thanksgiving and the other to give my interview). The decision to join is due to the competence of the Consulting academy and a breathtaking campus :). I cannot however come to the Admit weekend as i am in bangalore but wouldnt have missed it otherwise.

It makes sense to take a loan in USD as a appreciating rupee will force me to pay more USDs to clear a rupee loan.

Do you have any idea (grape-vine stuff) about the intended Kelley-BOA colaboration to get lower interest rates?

GMAT GPA are just numbers which are a part of your story. You have to be able to sell your complete profile not just a part of it.

Ofcourse my recommendation is partial but I truely believe Kelley is WAYYYY better than Krannert in all the business functions.

I have 700 GMAT and 5 yrs WE and I am in Kelley with Dean's Schol...
So, don't worry...Just do good on your essays and although Interview is optional, work VERY HARD on the interviews and you'll be fine...

There are various ways to confirm the current configuration that IT services at IU are supporting. Here is one link that should answer your questions. If not then you can contact the UITS at the email id/ Phone number mentioned at the bottom of the page and they should be able to help you.

One piece of information for you is that though UITS will recommened that you do not get a MAC, they will still help you to get it setup and there are a few students who do use MACs and seems to be working fine for them
