I put my papers yesterday. It was a surprise to me. The way my manager handled my resignation - I am flattened. I was expecting that he will be upset as I really share a good rapport and had been handling the most important project of company. I started with "I got in ISB" and I think it helped. He said please go ahead and join before I could even say anything and he asked me about joining date.

I just wanted that after 4.5 years my exit from company be as smooth as possible and now it looks to be a reality. I am now much more committed to give my 100% for remaining days and will make sure that transition is as smooth as possible.

In the end I felt ISB name helped :)

1) What if the number of rejections is more than the number of waitlisted applicants. Wud ISB be picking up
applicants in the existing pool of applicants rejected after interview or wud ISB be calling applicants who have
not been called for interview till date to fill up the vacant positions.

2) Some time back some puys were talking abt ISB calling some applicants to Hyderabad in March last year for interviews.. Any idea in which category were those people.. I mean if an applicant is in the waitinglist he cant be called again for the interview...

If any of u guyz is really knowledgeble on the process at ISB please answer the 2 questions above... It wud be helpful for my frnds who are hanging by their teeth...

Hi.. For your first question I am not sure but check out the last yr pg wl thread.. When someone from waitlist dint select isb there was some confusion.. But I really think Isb its experienced enough to estimate the number of people to be put onto a waitlist .

Well I did not fill in any essay for scholarship my GMAT score was not exceptional either nor were my undergrad marks.. Although I do acknowledge my professional experience is quite good...Maybe that justifies the 15 lakh scholarship to compensate for a MOHALI admit.. I spoke to a lot of people about this situation.. The star faculty from the whartons, kelloggs which started off in Hyderabad will be all there at Mohali.. Mohali campus is apparently extremely awesome as well.,. The curriculum is same.. and for recruitment the student will have anonymity in campus while interviewing with the firms .. Yes everyone has equal access to the jobs with no mention of campus and you could be asked to fly between campuses if shortlisted for a job..So level playing ground.. additionally since it has fewer people the bonding is expected to be stronger.. The mix in terms of talent, diversity , gender is the same across both campuses.. So ALL good that way.. MY primary problem and that is a HUGE problem is that the external recruiters who one approaches through personal network will automatically assume the "Mohali because he didnt make it to HYD" situation... and Mohali will receive that treatment even if the notion is artificial.... The situation might change after 5-6 years but as of now the syndrome will remain UNFORTUNATELY...

hehe.... The guy came out to escort me for the interview and said they are sorry as tehy were not sure how to pronounce my name! So i told them, and then the lady says "Oh! such an unusual and nice name, what does it mean"... so i told them what it means, and then they went on discussing that as to what they thought the word was, and i stood on my claim as to the meaning. Then i said "havent you heard it in hindi songs".. Lady says "Is it?"..and the guy says "Can u sing a song for us with your name in it". Thankfully I rememeberd one instantly and actually sang it too!! And They even complimented me on my singing!! So first 7-8 mins of my interview was this! So yeah, you never know what works for ISB.

P.S. It was the first time ever that I sang in front of anyone. But I did not do bad, probably it was the survival instict that worked.

Last but not least, I got a deferred admit (as many people were sure, I would - with the low workex). And I'm going to reject it. ISB Hyderabad CO2013 was on the top of my list due to some personal reasons. Had put in a lot of effort to break the trend (of 2+ years workex admits). Didn't happen Mohali or CO2014 doesn't work in my favour. Have IIM-B and IIM-C interviews up in early March. Hope I get luckier there. So, the marathon continues :)

Met some really nice people here. Would love for our paths to cross sometime. Cheers! :cheers:

Oki, I promised to myself, I will reveal this to the thread ONLY if I was admitted. And fortunately that happened. So here it goes.

There are a lot of debates on whether the one-word essay during the iview has any significance. And the prevalent opinion is that it DOESN'T (which I kind of vouch for). But ever since I scored in GMAT, and came to know of the essay thingie, I resolved to write it in the form of an Onegin stanza (or a poor clone of that). And I was determined that I'd do it with ANY word ISB throws at me.

Sure enough, my word was 'escalate', and I cracked the 14-lines in 10 minutes (it was a doggerel, but it rhymed, and was fancy). During the interview, one of the panelists very curiously pored into it, and read it ----- for the WHOLE of 20 minutes, or as long as the iview lasted. When they were done with me (only two questions were asked), and I had NO questions for the ISB, I asked permission to speak on something. And then I pointed out that the essay was in Onegin stanza, and how Vikram Seth and The Golden Gate inspired me. Believe me, the panelists had very nice smiles on their faces. And that's when I felt that I MIGHT have clinched it a bit my favour.

Point is, regardless of what people say, have a game plan of your own. And hold on to it. You never know what works for ISB :)

I have few questions regarding ISB. Can someone please share their views?

1. With ISB strength increasing to 770. Will it pose any issues in terms of placement?
2. Any information about class 2012 placement status?
3. What about loans? I saw the website but I saw it needs co-applicant - what does it mean?
4. Average salary I saw was 18Lakh (approx) but any idea how much is it true as I think averages skew the picture a low
