Depends entirely on you. I did not take a GMAT coaching (I scored 710 with a 3 weeks prep) - one of my very good friends quit her job and stayed in Bangalore on rent for 3 months for her GMAT prep (she scored 720).
Tricky. But you will have to take your chances.
You can say that you have ...
Hey,
True. I am definitely looking at the options.
Two things though. I have a view (not really a researched one) that I might be able to make it to ISB with the limited work ex but not the US ones. And not a big fan of Entrepreneurship specialization or something on the similar lines. Pref...
Hey H,
Seems like there is a lot more clarity on the way forward now.
Got an idea of how the entire process should ideally happen.
Last two questions :
1. Is coaching necessary for GMAT?
2. We converted from a Partnership to a Pvt. Ltd. in May 2010 after graduation. But we had off...
Hi Mr Menon,
I have a few pertinent questions which I needed to ask.
1. I am an engineer by background - however I had a pretty bad accident during my terms which affected my acads and health which had me undergo a 3 years break post engineering till I recovered to a significant extent.
Dude.. while ISB could help you achieve your objectives, why not look at schools that groom you for entrepreneurship?
Babson or one of the other top Entrepreneurship programs might serve your purpose better.
You're young enough that you don't need to worry about either spending 2 years or t...

Hi.... I will be applying for ISB-2012 batch in the 2nd round this year... I could really use some informed advice/help on how to go about prepairing my application.
I'm working in Merchant Navy (Engineer), have about 3-3.5 years of work experience. The catch is that the employment is contrac...
Hi
I am taking the GMAT in July for ISB - can somebody please tell me what my chances are like?
cheers
The question is irrelevent at this stage. Tollgate 1 is an interview invitation - you will get a short term goal / long term goals question in the essays (you are most likely to get, that is). If you answer is 'you want to start something of your own' - define it. The clearer you are in your post...
Also, regarding the EC bit.
It is something I believe showcases a lot about my ability to perform in varied functions as a leader. Need advice on how to sort of highlight it a bit more because it seems like a good leverage against the acads.
And the help gets better.
Ok, I am going to ask you to switch to a role of a guy who say has to advice me on the best way to circumvent the obvious loopholes. If that's okay with you.
1. What after ISB? Well, the idea is to know enough to start another 'more professional - more scalable' ve...
HI,Thanks for the posts.I am also looking up for ISB 2012.My work experience is 2.5 years in Analog circuit domain+6 months of experience in training graduates on personality development.

@Varun - here goes the more elaborate post.
Must caution you that I am likely to sound sarcastic and caustic - primarliy this is because I don't know you enough; second, because I have my own set of prejudices around non-conservative profiles (wildcards in the Indian mileu). You are as wild a...
My point precisely. Your venture is likely to sound like a UG entrep project.
Am on phone right now will poke more holes tomorrow.

@lseguy - not sure but this should be third week April. Am assuming this since reporting is April 9 and week 0 continues for 1 week.

Thanks!

@ Harsh
Thanks for the reply man, appreciate it.
I am looking at this as a mock interview. Of sorts, atleast. So I will answer accordingly.
I think the 'Why ISB' and 'Why MBA now' are the two questions I have a fairly easy answer for. ISB because of the experience peer group and the incu...
@Varun, Rahul, CA, Shivani - guys a few points to get you started on your MBA prep
1) GMAT and applications are two different pieces. I would suggest prep for GMAT and take it ASAP (even if you are off padhai it would not take you more than 2 months of consistent prep to get into 700+ range)....

Dude. . you have a profile to die for. . I am sure ISB Hyd would be happy to have you . . 99% people bluff about their entrepreneurial tendencies but very few have things to back it up their claims.
Been a passive reader of this forum for quite a while now and I think its time to get quantify ...

please please reply asap...

From everything I've seen, ISB does not hand out admits to people if it feels that it will not be able to satisfy career aspirations. I'd say your current accomplishments and corresponding future ambitions would probably make you an outlier in the applicant pool.
I'd take it as a compliment (e...

Did anyone receive their feedbacks yet? Or is it still early? I understand that feedbacks for both R1 and R2 applicants are dispatched together.
Thanks.
Hey,
Congratulations to all those who got their calls and best of luck for all who are trying elsewhere.
I will come to the point.
I graduated in April 2010. Decided to bootstrap and start-up in May 2010. Launched the same month. The past 10 months have been one heck of a ride to say the...
@Sagar - the ISB exec management programme is meant for people who are already mid career managers...I dont think you will fit given your age. At the same time I suggest that you visit the ISB website and research more on the exec program - and call the admissions / contact number given in the IS...
ummmm... I think its more zen than that -- when you are ready your mind will be made up
BTW GMAT is valid for five years for most applications. Assuming that you are young in your career and you can manage to take a couple of hours a day for padhai I would suggest take a GMAT as soon as you ...
Dude I made a similar mistake. I have 4 yrs of work-ex in corporate finance space with a Big4. Your profile is ideal for a good US b-school. I wud suggest u apply to some of the good ones.
I am sagar mahajan.
I have a question.
I have done pharma management from SIES, Mumbai.I am currently working with a leading pharmaceutical company in intl mktng.
May I apply for ex mngmnt prgm of ISB?
Do people with an MBA apply for this course usually?
hey thnx..but do u think its gud to give it rite now..generally people prefer to write it after 2 1/2 -3 yrs of exp..
you should have completed 2 years of work-exp at the time of joining ISB (in April 2012/2013).
decide your eligibility on the basis of this
Guys i have a doubt and really require some guidance..
i currently have 1 yr experience in IT Industry... planning to give GMAT in Dec. so that i can apply for any school by next yr match. But will i be able to apply for the class of 2012? and since i do not have enough work ex wil they conside...
@Hulala - PM me in mate March will share what I have by then
H.
That was amazing info Harsh.. Thanks a tonn..thanks again..is there a way by which any info that u collect u can pass on to me..
@Hulala - Valid question mate ... regret don't have the exact answer and would recommend that you write to the admissions office at ISB. A few pointers though:
1) The ISB PGP is not a degree...and ISB is not a UGC / AIU recognised university (nor is it a deemed university as yet). It does not...
