Hi guys,
I am from Canada and have been admitted to two of the best MBA programs in Canada but I am also very interested in IE and one other school in Europe. My background is in IT consulting and I have a pretty decent work experience under my belt but I want to switch my career to Finance. It would be really helpful if anyone who has gone to IE or currently a student can answer some of these questions for me. My Gmat score is 650 ( only wrote it once and had six weeks to prepare with work!!) I can potentially study for it again and give it another try. I am confident I can score higher because I scored 700 on one of the practice GMAC tests before I took the real test. But in my case I am not sure if I will have the time and it is worth the effort since I want to apply for November Intake of this year.
1) For someone who does not speak spanish how difficult is it to get an Associate level position in Finance in spain with my background (especially with the current economic situation there)? Are there any international companies that hire International students who are not fluent in spanish?
2) How difficult is it to get a job in London or other parts of Europe like Germany (For a Canadian (International student)? Where do most international IE MBA grads who want to work in Finance land jobs in Europe? If you have any stats it would be highly appreciated if you share it.
3) Do the top IB's in Europe who recruit at IE require your GMAT scores and if so what minimum score are they looking for in order to even get an interview. I have heard some top consulting firms (like BCG, etc..) require 700+ GMAT?
4) Do you recommend the Masters of Advanced Finance offered by IE over MBA, for someone with my background if you want to work only in Financial sector? If so, please explain your reasoning. ( I am aware of the dual degree but prefer to finish as soon as possible unless there is real value to doing the dual degree for someone with my profile)
5) I was surprised to read in some forums that the IE MBA program is not as strong in Consulting and Finance. The reason I am surprised is that they have one of the best Finance masters and I assuming some of those courses are shared with MBA students. So can IE MBA students or Alumni comment on this?
Thanks in Advance for your help
