To whatever I have read in the blogs;forums;threads about Insead... The experience seems to be low; Otherwise stellar profile and experience. If you can come up with good essay about your accomplishement and career journey. In my view you have a great chance.

Having another year of experience will just add icing to the cake.

Have taken responsibilities apart from my workplace like working on new business models

Acads: top 10% in my class
Extra curr: have been involved in a lot of clubs in college, associated with an NGO , have been part of a volunteer group in my org, have formed a new Employee club in my current org.

Kindly post ur views on my profile. Since Insead doesn't encourage re-applicants, I request all of you to suggest whether I should be applying now or in the next batch. Though I am confident that this is the right time for me to move ahead for my MBA.

I suggest that you go for it. You've got all the basics right man. the only things that are somewhat unclear are

You've got lesser work experience that a lot of people who apply, but there's a general trend for all business schools to accept younger people (right after school even). Stanford GSB & HBS are pushing for this trend.

That said, IT experience varies quite a bit. And in the end this is a marketing exercise... If you've got the great writing skills and the ability to make a strong case you should have a good chance.

Yes, they emailed me. I have no idea why they emailed me so early, cos my one (and only) interview got over only on the 15th and had not asked for an early decision.

I think the dealbreakers were lack of international experience(i operate in global business but only have international trips no stays) and the average interview(only 10 min)

I don't want to sound bad , but you are right , the biggest problem in your ( and mine ) profile is the fact that you are a Indian IT male - this demography is the most competetive one out there for B Schools to choose form and thus for people in this demography a very strong profile is required in any of the Top schools.

As per my understanding every schools tries to maintain different demographic profiles in their class to get the experience for thier students , but since nearly 40% of the applicants are from the "Indian IT male" profile only about 3-5% of this profile gets chosen at the top schools , so if you were in Industry working in some construction company a score of 730 may be good enough for getting into the top schools but in the "Indian IT male" demograph it is very difficult.

But thats not to say you should not apply , I have applied this year for a shot at those 3-5% slots . you never know what they find intrsting in your profile. But to be honest getting into any Top 10 schools with our profile is tough .

I understand essays play a big role in Admission process. However, one deterent for me is that INSEAD is not receptive of reapplicants. Although, I am convinced that this is the right time for me to go to an MBA program, does my profile substantiate.

You can email the person who scheduled your interviews. I should say that I'm not 100% sure if this is going to work, but I read about 1 person on the Business week forum's who said that they were successful.

I think it might be useful to make a case for it - economic/financial conditions makes real sense given how expensive some of the admit-deposit's are.

I applied in R2, I have not heard back. A few folks on the Business week forums have gotten admits. I have not heard of anyone getting dings. I suspect that the folks who have gotten admits have pressed INSEAD for it. If you're in a hurry and have competing offers, you could try notifying the adcom.

Did any of the R2 candidates hear on the decision?

INSEAD's really good with sticking to their deadlines. In my case, I heard from INSEAD 1 week before the deadline they had mentioned.

So, how many of you have gotten replies from the School?

Regarding R3 and beyond: If you are accomplished and you have done well in your interviews, you have nothing to worry about. Your chances are no better or worse than the first round.

If you have not received any acknowledgment from the school, again, do not worry. They have a good process in place. If it has been too long and you still have not heard from the school, you can always write an email to the school.

INSEAD is good at picking the right students. They won't let go a good candidate just as you won't let go a good school.

I didn't see any loans that did not require a cosignor.

I did see IEFC and TERI but both required cosignors. Can admitted students help here?

I know ISB offers loans through Andhra and SBI at 9.5%

as far apping is concerned in round 3. i think we have an equal chance considering there rolling application and a 2 term in an year background.

Well there are rumors that chances in R3 are lower than the previous rounds, but as per their website the chances are same so based on that I applied in R3 . R4 on the other hand may be a complete waste .

I have already submitted my application on February 1st and the supplementary materials arrived at INSEAD on the same day. However, I have not yet received any e-mail that the app. is complete. As far as I am aware, INSEAD responds 2-3 days after submission. Should I be worried about?

about your gmat query-initially the test taker copy is fine- but they do need your official report.

i already have taken my gmat, but i plan to re-take it. insead mentions they accept test-taker copy. just want to confirm that - even if i take gmat just before the deadline, it should be ok with sending a fax of the test-taker copy.

I would tend to agree... making the hypothesis stronger.

On another note, I would want some help from you folks, I have been exploring finance options on INSEAD for last couple of days.. and the expenses (add the problems of getting a loan - and my want to not put any collateral) are adding to my woes.

I have also been accepted to ISB... I am in a jam of sorts on what to do? Any thoughts?

The rep informed me that unlike several other B-Schools INSEAD does not release those numbers. They didnt elaborate into it too much. I suspect INSEAD has higher acceptance ratio's as they have a higher bar (more work experience, international experience) that filters out a lot of prospective applicants. The higher acceptance ratio might dilute their brand a little bit. I dont know.

Anecdotally, however, I've heard from a lot of people (alumni and friends), that the interview is very casual and merely checks if you'd make a good fit with the program. So I expect a high ratio 60+% of interviewees to get acceptances. Ofcourse this is anecdotal :-)
