If you are a finance guy - CA/ICWA with real (hand-on and large value) work ex. in investment banking, fund management, raising funds and managing treasury, you can expect some organizations to look at your profile. Banks/financial institutions have not looked at PGPX in earlier batches probably because the above experience didn't exist in the batch. Hi Guys,

Hope you all must in the final stage of the application. I am sceptical about the length of the the section under the current work profile

1. Roles and responsibilities in your current job

2. Achivement in the current job.

I have 2 main doubts:

1. How long should be each essay ?

2. I joined my current job only 10 months back and significant work experience is refelected from my previous work exp. How do I manage the situation as I dont have much achievement in the current job?

Can any current student clarify this issue.

Hi..are the essays required to be submitted after getting to know if we are shortlisted? I reach somewhere that at the initial stage it is just the application (and not the essays which need to be submitted).

Is international experience a crucial factor? Is it something IIM A actively looks for? I suppose there would be candidates in roles where it onsite prospect is limited.

I'm a automobile professional. Please evaluate my Profile.

Work Exp - 11 years (as on today)

in managerial role since 6 years.

GMAT - 640/5.5

10th - 80%

10+2 - 72%

BE (Mech) - 6.9/10

Is there any hope to get in IIMA with this low score.

I've already given GMAT thrice. COuld not get a better score.

There are many parents and many more kids on campus Though Im not either, i know that all the kids are going to school and the parents dont seem to be complaining. I guess thats all you can ask for :)

Dear All

Can you throw me some light on the career option post IIMA PGPX. I am a lawyer with 10 years of experience. My age is 33 years. I am at present in-house counsel at Reserve Bank of India. I just am wondering that whether an IIMA PGPX course can bolster my career. Therefore, before taking a full fledged plunge into a management course, would like to understand that what career option awaits the pass outs of PGPX programme. Though sound legal understanding may help in taking various management field likes Merger & Acquisition/ Strategy/ Management consultancy. Still would like to hear from the more knowledgeable about the post career options and whether law and pgpx is a good blend.

IMO the GMAT score of 700 or above is enough to get an interview invite though there is a rule- "the higher the better".

-IT with 8 years exp by Aug 2012.
-Engg every semester first class with distinction
-33 Months of US and 3 Months of Europe Exp. 4 More months of Europe Exp expected before end of 2012
-Few awards for performance in the Company
-Extra Curricular - Less. Team Outing Organising in companies, Assistant SPL in primary school.
-Leadership/Managerial Exp- From last 6 years, playing leadership roles at different levels within projects with projects size of more than 2M USD
-Career - One Jump 6.5 Years in one of the Largest IT comany and 1.5 years in a medium scale enterprise.

"criteria for admission? " its mentioned as "a good academic record," This is my profile .

10th - 61%
12th - 56%
Bsc Computer Science - 73%
MCA - 80%

Total IT experience - 8 Years
Onshore Experience - 1.5 yrs

As my 10th and 12th marks are not good, Can any one suggest/advice , whether its a big drawback for me .

the application form doesnt need 10th and 12th marks. focus on highlighting other non academic leadership and non scholastic achievements.

While researching the profiles of ex students of IIM executive programs,I observed that most of them had a prior working experience in Well known firms such as Infosys ,TCS ,Delloite etc.Do the aspirants from the lesser known consulting firms have a hard time?How much weightage is given to the Clients served?

Hold on for a few weeks and IIMA will open up the application form. Mainly goes into the work experience, responsibilities, international exposure (years and work done abroad), salary, graduate and post graduate education details, extra curricular, languages.

Start looking at your resume closely and start quantifying (in terms of $$/Rupee) what your contributions have been.

Yes IIMA PGPX gives consideration to the Masters as Work experience. You just need to be over 27 years old for PGPX. PGPX does not accept CAT, you need to go with GMAT for this program.

i am at present pursuing my post graduation M.D Pharmacology. Did my M.B.B.S (completed in 200. I have a 2 years of work exp. as a private practitioner. Will I be eligible for the pgpx program ?. I am at present preparing for CAT 2012. Heard that GMAT format is goin to change in 2012.

1. Yes if you are trying for IIMA. Not necessarily for others. There is something lacking in your profile that is preventing you from converting these calls.
2. Not sure about this but what has been the frequencies of these 4 GMATs?
3. They only say highest score is used but you eliminate the Benefit of Doubt if you take it several times and your score is constant or declining. Seems like your scores have been increasing which is a good thing. If you are sure to get around 710, do retake. Focus on Verbal.

I know that IIMA had called in for a very few interviews at 680 GMAT, but how many actually coverted 680 to an admit, I am not sure of.
Hence I agree there may be things in your app that you need to work on - either gaps or not being portrayed effectively.

I have taken GMAT thrice and have got 580, 640 and 680 scores. This year I got interview calls from IIM-B/C/L but was not able to convert them, and got final admit in IIM-I last year. IIM-A did'nt give me intv call.

1) should i give gmat again for increasing the score?
2) will it have negative impact as far as iim a/b/c are concerned?
3) does any one in current or previous batches have taken gmat 4 times and got an admit?
4) does gmat plays role till intv call only or does it counts in final admit selection also?
5) does the current batch of pgpx has any candidate with 680 score? cos iim c and b have few ( i heard so)...

i called one of the famous MBA coaching institute and they told me not to retake gmat as according to them the score was OK and there may be some issues related to presentation of profile. the reason he gave was that i have gotten an intv call from iim b/c, and the gmat selection crterion is almost same for the three schools.

my profile in short:

decent acads ( chemical engg) ; decent EC ( NCC/Sports/cookey etc); head of two chemical processing units ( leading app 200 personnel including ops/ hr/ planning/ purchase etc).

If you are over 27 years of age at the time of joining the program, you will be eligible. Masters may be considered a part of your workex.
Yes, GMAT format is changing and becoming more challenging I would say.
