I am new to this forum and planning on applying for IIM A and IIM B for 2010. Below is my profile

US citizen
12+ Experience in fortune 500 Companies in various roles (mostly on the IT front (Ebay, Fannie Mae, Southwest Airlines, Boeing etc)
B Tech Chemical Engineering - 75%
MS computer Science (Texas A&M;) - 3.75/4.00
Extra Curricular activites - Good.
Finally the bad thing - GMAT 630 ( I feel this is too low after going through so many competitive exams, may be its the age )

I would like to know my chances and I feel this is best route for R2I and desperately want to return to india.

Appreciate any help/suggestions/morale boost

No mails till now = {MY VIEW} DING.
Why not sent = {MY VIEW} prioritize your tasks and proceed; no good attained by trampling on the foots of already-dejected.

Funda of how does ePGP comm know if all R2 offers would be converts = {MY VIEW} Not all need to join. If they extended overall offer to, say, 75 candidates, even a batch size of 60 is good enough.

Do not intend to hurt; on the contrary it helps if our expectations are grounded.

Hi WL of R1: Spoke to Ms Komala. The last date for R2 payment was 30/01. So WL applications will be scrutinized again this week and their results will be declared by End of next week. Ding mails will also be sent sometime next week. Hope that helps!

even for two years regular one, XL will come above L / I or K. Look at the official rankings, placements. I know atleast two guys in last three years preferrings XL to IIM K / I. My last org,happens to a Blue chip one, never frequents any B college but IIM A/B/C and XL ( mind u all non-HR). I mean pl have a holistic view. On the lighter side, I dont earn to create brand value for anyone. And for God's sake, dont generalise. Pl do the ranking in light of the programme you are looking for, and thats why IIM B scored not as much as they deserve..apprehensions..Wanna give an example..for Operations, Perdue is GOD..but look where does it stand in the over all ranking...I know my friends from the frst batch of IIMA- one year, who struggeled to get Job..Pl understand that all my remarks are with good intentions and not to heart nyone.
So if you are trying to do an MBA for reasons like money, career shift cling any top Brand IIMs, XL or ISB. If not, and you are doing well in all respect, think again and look for the right programme..the Best Brand not necessarily gives you the right training!! all the best..by the way pl look at the GMP XL programme..its good and very mature

hmmm.......but when i asked,they said no mail= not offered admission.....infact R2 result came on 13th Jan,so if some people don't accept admission (like got selected anywhere else or don't prefer) till 28th Jan,then after that a few WL candidates may get offers followed by ding mails........Just my opinion though, no such official info or confirmation from anyone.

my acads are in 70's before college and in 60's in mbbs.... i got thru

IMHO, IIM-B did take a holistic approach while finalizing the candidates. Whether we look at admits or rejects across PG (and thus people outside the forum), it seems like survival of fittest. After all, there were 30 to 35 seats.

IIM-B EPGP: Ding after interview
My Profile - GMAT 710 / 5.5

Of course the ding made me unhappy but I don't feel anything wrong has happened.

What shocked me was ISB's ding without interview.....I am waiting for the feedback which of course will come out in May. Personally, I found it very unfair to ding without an interview

This figure is not surprising. a good number of guys i met during the interview at Bangalore werent either aware of PG or were visiting PG as a guest ( after googling).

So i assume the number of people who applied for IIM-B and got an interview call, but not visiting/not knowing PG to be the majority. this should be something like 230-240 and the people visiting PG around 60-70 ( if we go by the 300 interview calls figure).

- The acads only constitute part of the evaluation process. If your acads is no so good, you can always compensate by good GMAT, profile, work experience or interview. After looking at IIMB admits, it appears that IIMB gives very good weightage towards your work experience and diversity rather than acads. Moreover I am sure there are many admits having 60-70 % marks atleast in engineering. I strongly believe that one stands a good hence if can bring in some diversity in his profile

Thought:
to really make it BIG in life, do we really need an IIM stamp? i mean, we all have seen that if entrepreneurship is your meal then doesn't a workable venture oriented idea backed by some enthusiastic guys sufficient? let's say the guy who started makemytrip.com was an IIM-A grad no doubt but eventually it was his "common for-the-masses" idea. wasn't it?

Many of the big entrepreneurs are not IIM graduates and hence as we know IIM stamp is not a necessary condition to become a entrepreneur . What is more important is the zeal and enthusiasm to do something different and succeed. Studying at IIMs will probably give you a newer and broad outlook of looking at business by enriching your skills, knowledge and exposure.
