Your XAT score is just one part of your application process. Your essays, EC, work achievements, academics, recommendations all play a part in deciding your admissions. The last year median XAT score was 94%, so anything around that score would be safe.

Hello

Your CAT score is below the median scores last year. But your academic scores are pretty good. Since Great Lakes considers your entire profile before offering admissions, i would go ahead and apply if i have strong EC and work achievements to compensate for my CAT score.

Great Lakes is accepting MAT scores for its PGDM program. Both 2011 and 2012 scores are accepted.

My Cat score are:
2010: 97.3
2011: 95.71

But in 2010 I have 81 percentile in Verbal.Whereas is 2011 my both sectionals are above 93.
Through which year of Cat's score it would be better for me to apply for Great Lakes.

A difference of 1-2% will not matter that much. If i were you, i would go with my 2011 score.

Essays carry a good weightage in shortlisting a candidate. Once you buy your application form, the form will contain the essay questions which you need to fill along with the other details.

While writing your essays make sure that you write several rough drafts before submitting the final version. Make sure that you review your essays with friends or anybody who has a keen eye for detail. Your essays should be relevant to the question asked, definitely no Global Gyaan. Added to that, since your essays are one way to impress, make sure you highlight all your strengths with examples and your achievements in all ways possible.

Your recos will be completed my superiors(Project Managers, Delivery Head or anybody whom you have worked under). A link would be sent to them for filling in the recommendations and they need to update it online.

If you are graduating only in 2012 then you will be a fresher and can apply for PGDM. Your CAT score is very less and it will be very difficult to get admissions with that score, you need to have stellar extra curriculars and academic scores.

You need to send the names and other details of your recommender in your application form itself. An email will be sent to your recommenders with an online link containing the details about LOR.

A LOR would typically contain questions about your achievements, strengths and other things that are associated with your work profile. Hence it would be best if your recommenders are someone who know you well with respect to your work experience.

Your GMAT score is on the lower side of the median score of last year. Having said that Great Lakes will look at your entire profile before shortlisting candidates. So you need to showcase your work exp, ECs, essays etc.

Regarding your GMAT score, you need to send your scores through pearson itself. You might want to send an email to Adcom to confirm the same.

So the next thing which I'd like to ask is that if I am giving both the scores of CAT n MAT, though MAT score is good, will CAT score create any problem at the time of shortlisting & selection??

Here are my Acads -

B.E. - 77%

The problem is I dont have a print out of my results and I am unable to find it anywhere on the web. All I have is my CAT Registration Number. Do we need to enter the scores in the Application Form?

Yes you need to enter the scores in the application form. I am sure you would have got a printout/mail of your scores. I will not be able to help you with the link, please ask your friends/others who would have taken their CAT.

Hi Mitul

You will not be eligible for the PGPM program as it requires min 2 years of work exp. PGDM program would be the best fit for you. Your MAT score is very good and you can apply using this score itself. Your overall profile looks good as well. I suggest that you go ahead and apply for PGDM.

It does not look bleak. This is the first year for PGDM and so we cannot definitely give a median score and say this is good or bad. But Great Lakes will definitely consider your overall profile. So don't lose hope based on your CAT score alone. Apply and leave the rest to the admissions team :)

Your MAT score is good. The biggest plus i see in your profile is your list of extra curriculars. These will make your profile really strong if you highlight them in the right way. Added to that your entrepreneurial skills would be considered a big plus point by Great Lakes.

Your CAT score is below the median score of 94%. Your academics scores are really good. Since Great Lakes considers your entire profile before shortlisting, i think your high academic scores and ECs might compensate for your low CAT score.

I suggest that you apply and concentrate on your essays. Get your recos also from people whom you have worked under and who are aware of all your achievements in your company.

Personally you have a very tough chance of getting shortlisted for the interview. Then again this is my personal opinion. But so far none of the candidates with similar profiles have got shortlisted. My suggestion for you is to give your CAT again or GMAT and get a good score.

You have a good profile. But unfortunately your work ex is below the minimum criteria of 2 years set for the PGPM course. You can apply for the PGDM course which is for 2 years. If you are intent on the 1 year course then you need to apply in the next year. Your CAT score if you have taken it this year would still be eligible in the next year.

Please check my earlier post for my comments on essays. Your commerce background will not matter. You have a diverse profile considering your work ex in an risk advisory firm. If i were you i would apply with the highest score which is your CAT 2010 score. Your scores are just one part of consideration. Hi Nishant

Since you have completed 24 months already you will be eligible only for PGPM. There are no cut off for CAT. With your CAT score and assuming you have good ECs you can definitely apply for PGPM.

Please visit Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai (India) for all the info on admissions process.
There is no cut-off for CAT or XAT. The admissions are offered based on the complete profile of the candidate and his/her performance in GD/PI.

Work Ex : will complete 30 months by Feb'12. Working in Risk Advisory with 2 of the top 5 firms in India. Have been working with a Big 4 for the past 1 yr.

Extra curricular: Decent sports achievements (School and College), Good in social work (pretty actively involved)
