Congratulations on i/v invite!

In my interview the asked me the following:

1. Walk them through my job profile. What I do at work.
2. Situations where I displayed leadership skills
3. Why Hong Kong? How will I manage since I've very minimal Mandarin skills?
4. What according me makes one a good manager. Also, any situation I've come across managers who don't have the make of a leader.
5. What are you short-term and long-term goals

Overall, it was a good experience. Mostly conversational. I think they look for a candidate's fit into their program and whether CUHK can help him/her achieve professional success.

I'm not taking the offer as I've admit from other b-school. It was a hard decision to make since CUHK was always in my top-list of B-Schools.

My profile: nothing great, just an ordinary Joe (I'm serious).. GMAT:720, Exp.: 4 years in Research & Analytics, Acad: Engg + CFA L3, Ex. Curr.: decent, but no "I have worked for an NGO" stuff for me.. I always knew that pagalguy was one of the best forums for aspirants of MBA schools in India; however, I wasn't aware, until yesterday, of its utility for international B-schools as well. Anyhow, my bad, never got down to checking the website before submitting any of my apps or preparing for any of my interviews - it would have surely been useful. Now that I'm done with the apps and have got a few admits, I just wanted some advice from the junta:
Since this year was my 'Target Asia-Pac Year', I applied to a few Asian B-schools: got dinged from ISB and NTU after an interview (was unwell and could hardly speak :P) but managed to get through CEIBS, CUHK, HULT, and NUS.
I have four years experience in the market/business research & analytics industry and plan to specialise in strategy for a consult-based job. Although my CFA can make life a wee bit easy if I decide to specialise in Fin, but somehow down the line, I've realised mainstream/core Fin. is not me - although, I'll be more than happy with bits and pieces of Corp. Fin. and M&A; Advisory. Not keen on working outside India in the long-term, i.e., more than five years.
Therefore, with some preliminary due diligence, I've boiled down to the following conclusion and would highly appreciated if yu puys could let me know your thoughts on this.
CEIBS: A highly ranked school (across all B-school rankings) with good post-MBA salary figures, good for consulting too; however, I have this feeling that the figures are a bit skewed and applicable moreso in the case of Chinese students. Mandarin remains a perennial concern and a lot of people have told me acquiring business proficiency in Mandarin takes years, forget reading and/or writing. The very pleasant people on my interview panel scared me further by stressing 'a lot' on the importance on knowing Mandarin before even dreaming of getting a job after the MBA program!! The cost of living is a bit lower than in both Singapore and Hong Kong; but, of the three locations, may not be the best for a desi.
CUHK: A very good school with a wide CUMBA alumini network in Mainland and around; its location in HK makes it particularly interesting for the people interested in Fin - but, as I mentioned earlier, I'm not bullish on Fin. Cost of living is higher than in both Shanghai and Singapore. However, a scholarship worth HKD 100,000 makes it even more difficult to turn down!!
HULT: Not considering, to say the least
NUS: I guess the best (of the choices that I have) in terms of brand value, alumini network in Asia (recruiters in India know about NUS), decent multicultural place to live in with India-friendly work/visa/immigration rules, and Singapore, being the Asia-Pac headquarters for most major consulting firms, is a good hunting ground for a consulting role. I'm almost certain that I'll go with NUS but just wanted to confirm, and confirm soon!!

Not sure the exact time required. They told me max of 2 days. You could call up your local dhl office and find out.

It depends on the university. My university is anna university. They sign and seal the transcript in the university in an envelope.
I mailed the envelope myself, you can choice DHL university special (5 coupons for 4000rs, much cheaper than the normal rate).

I am not sure if there is an email option on recom, my referees send it via mail as they are in singapore. Even in the official recom pdf, it says to mail it. I dont see any email address in it.

sanjaysts, dont sweat about the interview too much.. its pretty easygoing... the usual is asked.. run through profile, leadership experience, team work, challenging experience at work.. all the best.

just a few days before the deadline... its still showing as processing... but i have an interview for 1st April.

I had the same issue for almost 1 month the status was showing as processing. Send a mail out to them asking if they received all your documents and LOR. In my case on of my LOR was missing. I asked my referee to resend it and with 2 days they got back to me with an interview date.

hi congrats on the IV call..
the interview is a very friendly one. in my case they were extensive regarding my work experience and challenges i faced.
the direction of the interview depends upon where YOU want to take it..
focus on ur application and maybe work out a strength and weakness list...
you shud b fine!

Did the authorities accepted your LOR from the refree's official email id's? If yes, then what is the procedure?
Or did you send it via post as well?
Also, the college has given a template to fill the Recommendation.
Should we use the same template to send it via mail?

Sorry about the late response..I was not following this thread last few weeks as I was disappointed with my app status and have almost lost hope .. Yes the authorities accept LORs from the referee's official email ids..referees just need to fill up the provided template and send thru email.
