Work experience certificate is not required upfront. You need to get recommendation letters from work - if you are able to do that then well & good. No need to inform (officially) no one does that. But hopefully you can get some supervisor to write the reco letters

For many top schools, you'd be above the average. But if you have the right reasons for attending a top MBA program, can choose the right programs and can put in a strong application, you will have a chance.
