Everything is fine abt AIM but this essay stuff looks horrible.

When do they ask for essay. is it after you get application form or after getting GD call.

I am sending you the 14 questions which are to be answered while sending your application to AIM. These questions are for both MBA and MM

1. Describe a major extra-curricular activity in college that you feel is very important to you. Explain why you consider it so.
2. Describe a major community activity that you feel is very important to you. Explain why you consider it so.
3. What recognition (distinction, honors, awards, etc) have you received in your academic, extra-curricular, business, community, and other activities? Which among these do you value most? Why?
4. Aside from the present and the last two organizations that you have worked for, what other work experience do you believe will help you during your studies in AIM?
5. Describe your interest and hobbies.
6. Evaluate yourself as a person, discussing in order of importance, the personal characteristics you feel are your weakness.
7. Describe what your believe to be your three most substantial accomplishments and explain why you believe them to be such.
8. Describe a situation (in family, in school, business, community, etc) where you felt you had some responsibility. Describe how this situation developed you and what have you learned from such experience.
9. As briefly and explicitly as possible, explain why you would like to attend the MBA or MM program.

11. Other than what you have already written, what do you believe will strengthen your application for the admission?
12. What are your plans after graduating from AIM?

- Influenced or referred by colleagues
- Others (please specify)

Hope this list allows to take a step forward towards AIM application process.

I will suggest that you dont take a chance...its could be hampering your chances to a great extent....so go ahead and get a reco letter from your institute you studied last. Moreover there is nothing much to be filled up in that sheet....some tick-marks and some 2-3 lines descriotions. So it wont even take much time to prepare those things.
And in case you are THE BOSS in your family business then contact the Mumbai office for further directions, else just go ahead and show them your real worth by getting a reco-letter from the CEO level of a company.

But dont take chance....you never know when can something turn against your chances.

Go to their web site Asian Institute of Management and then look for the details. AIM has a office in Mumbai and from there you can ask for the details/forms etc. AIM also conducts its own test, which you may or may not appear for......as they also accept the GMAT scores. visit the site and get in touch with them bye!

Cost is close to 30-32k USD.
$20k is the fee + another 10k boarding & lodging, airticket, and other expenses.

Add $1k incase u dont have laptop.

Indians are little lucky as approx 13L INR will give u $31k.

Previously 15 L would give the same $$.

Remember the cliche "GMAT is one of the many criteria for selection in to a B School and hence a very high GMAT not necessarily secures a place for you and vice versa".
However, I think GMAT above 650 is good enough to fetch you an interview call from AIM.
This does not mean that 640 GMAT wont get you an interview call.
For the profile of students
One can not generalise the profile of the students getting admission in AIM. People from all sorts of backgrounds are selected.
AIMAT is relatively easier than GMAT, however, the pattern for AIMAT is similar to that of GMAT.
This year there are 63 Indian students out of 109 total number of students.
Placement
AIM, just like many other international B-schools, did not use to focus too much on campus placements. Though this is changing over the last 1-2 years and now the institute has started inviting companies for placements. Last year some 80% Indian students got thru the campus placement. If you refer to last year thread, you can see the companies coming to campus. I remember few names and those are
1. Johnson electric,
2. Emerson electric
3. Olam Bangkok
4. HSBC-Singapore recruited one
5. Citigroup recruited two
6. Ayala land construction
7. Infosys
8. HCL
9. Wipro
10. ICICI (Offer 8-10.3 Ldepending on work ex. One guy was offered position of chief manager, he declined though becoz of low package and joined Mindtree )
11. Mind Tree Consulting (9 to 16.25L highest for one guy who has 9 years rich )
12. Accenture
13. Qatar Telecom from Dubai has recuited two frm campus with an offer of 2.20 lakhs per month.One has accepted Qatar.. other one accepted offer frm...14 lakhs annum
14. J&J;, India
15. S&G; Consulting
16. C&C; London

17. JP Morgan (for a guy who went to IIMA on exchange program)

commerce with math...82%
hospitality graduate with Exec. MBA from IIM-K in addition to Dip. in Trg. & Dev. from ISTD, good CGPA.
7 yrs exp. in HR & Trg., worked with GE, Hughes and now with Reliance (Mgr.)

want to transform my line experience into Gen. Mgt. and advance towards strategic HR.


A couple of questions...

1. How is AIMAT different from GMAT. I believe its has DI Qs too.
Is it a paper test or computer-adaptive? If paper test, is it multiple choice or subjective? Whats the duration and how much preparation is required?

2. I've a 6-day week with a 14-16 hour stretch at the office...so attempting GMAT would be real tough. Would AIMAT be a better option...if yes why?

3. How are the placements for MM course in specific...from ROI pt. of view and job offer pt. of view.
Where I'm coming from is that would the value-add result in gettn a challenging role...off-course a lot is person-driven!
Abt the ROI, candidates selected would have 6 to 7+ years of experience and already with salaries in excess of 12 Lacs p.a.
The highest salary at AIM has been 16.5 lacs. Baking in the opportunity increment in salary and approx cost of 11 lacs, would it be wise to go for it?

4. Could somebody post all 14 essays so that everybody is on the same page. What is the word-limit for the essays and any points to be taken care of while writing them?

Since you have already gone through the process and also got through the same hence would like to ask that how much GMAT score is enough and also what kind of profile are they looking for?????

Knowing about the GMAT score would help others ....and also since most of the junta here is into IT so it would be better if we know what extra we can do so at get the edge over rest of the applicants.

You got to write all the 14 essays and not one essay answering all the questions. In fact if you go thru the essay questions you will realize that you just cant manage to write one answer because the topics are quite different in nature.

I have gone thru all these processes last year and got an admit too from AIM. However, due to some reason, I could not join this year and deferred it for one year. I have many friends who are presently studying at AIM. The main course started on 6th Aug. Though they are extremely busy because of the tremendous study load at AIM, I will ask some of them to actively participate in this forum and reply to the queries of you guys. Meanwhile, I suggest you guys to follow this thread which might prove quite informative

No you have to wrote all those 13 essays.....and the last one , which is the 14th question needs to be answered by giving your priority to those things in order.
