I may be diverting from the topic of the thread..but I have a few queries on AIM and I am hoping you guys would help me out on this...



1. I have a GMAT score of 620 with work ex of 8 years in IT MNCs in areas of consulting and business development. What do you think are my chances ....is the GMAT score a little too low for AIM?

2. What will the total expenditure with Family ( spouse) and tution fees etc workout at AIM ( in Rupees? ) for 1 year.......give me just an approximate range.....

I will be applying for 2009, so i wanted your help on these questions..

Since AIM has increased the seats... u can get a discount on GMAT score.. but 8 yrs is impressive wrk ex.. i am sure.. u must have done something sparkling in this long a time... tht can be portrayed to get u the coveted seat

Congrats bro and ATB for your future endeavors. I would like to know as i am appearing for GMAT this Nov and planning for Fall Sept'09 intake. I would like to know wl my application get late if i apply least by Jan'09?? And like what are the GMAT cut off for AIM. Also,if i am not asking for you,i would rather appreciate if you can forward me your CV,Application essays and everything as i would get a clear picture and which would surely enlighten me and make my path smooth.

one suggestion - read the previous posts on this thread. Read all possible posts on all possible AIM threads, not just this year but last year's as well.
Log onto orkut, AIM community, batch 08-09. Go to a forum called Placements and look at the brain-storming that guys like leonadis and the rest of the batch have done :-)

It should hopefully then give you a clear idea of the placement scene there...
Frankly, for whatever anybody might say, its upto you...

One thing to be remembered - Treat AIM differently. Don't treat it like any other Indian b-school. Go there with an "open mind". The school will then open up to you !!

This has been discussed many times in the other two threads , but anyways if you want to come back to India after AIM thats the best position you can be in . Most of the indian grads get placed in India only . So no worries.

1. Can I still apply for the MBA in AIM for the september batch?
2. What is the procedure to apply to AIM with the XAT score?
3. Got 98 percentile in XAT, with that what is the probability of getting through with it?
4. Though my experience is of 1 year but the quality of experience is good
(atleast I think so) So what are my chances that they will consider my application?.

Answering ur queries.

1. Admissions still open for sept i think. Do check the website or get in touch with the AIM Mumbai office asap.
2. Simple application form with 4 essays and 2 recos to be given if applying thru XAT.
3. 98%tile in XAT is a good chance.. Do try your luck. Hope you have an equally good profile.
4. This could be a hindrance as AIM asks for a min of 2 years work ex.

Try your luck. Its a great place to be in.

hey amol...

to ans ur queries :

1. 620 is not a low score. Do apply. AIM gives considerable importance to the overall profile of the candidate. Your 8 years of work ex should hold you in good stead in this regard, and should be able to do a bit of a cover up on the GMAT score as well.
2. The tution fees this year is working out to be USD 20K for the 16 month MBA program. Without any scholarship etc, the overall cost would be hovering around 11-12 lakhs. This pretty much includes everything.
(I hope they dont hike the fees for the next year's batch).

P.S - If you feel, your GMAT score is low, I suggest you sit for AIMAT or XAT this year as AIM accepts these scores as well.

How good a job have people been able to find after doing their MBA from AIM...
even if they had to really russle up contacts and their network and alumni for it...
How are the job prospects in the US,UK,singapore,Hongkong after AIM?

I saw on the AIM site that we could apply for the MBA starting in september till 23rd MAY. Is that so ?
And what according to u should be the minimum credential like work ex etc that one shld have to get into AIM.

i guess admissions are still open..you can contact the admissions office to know more about this.
as regards work ex, typically most ppl go in with atleast 2 years work ex...

The reason.. I got to knw..!
was that batch in September is more aligned to US-Euro B schools.. so that there is a better coordination during exchange programme..!

Could anybody tell me what is the difference between May and Sep batch???? Both are of 16months right???? Then whats the point of starting 2 batches with just 4 months interval??

frankly, your question is one that perplexes everyone...i've tried questioning the same as well...till now have found 2 possible answers...hope they will be of help to you.

1. MBA program reduced to 16 months from 24 months. Therefore, the school has seen a possibility of have 2 batches in 1 academic year.
2. Possible lack of infrastructure (dorms / classrooms etc) to increase the current strength of the sept batch which is 120. Hence, a new batch formed with a diff of 6 months with a 60 student intake.

My answers are partly speculative. Take them with a pinch of salt. Maybe, if anyone else knows some other reason, they could add in.

Received the hard copy of acceptance from AIM today afternoon. Was waiting for this. Quite relieved now...

Now will have to start the other procedures...

Hope the others too have received the hard copies.
