Have put out a post on placements. Hope that answers your questions.
As far as high paying jobs are concerned, one thing to understand is that PGPEX is not a placement agency. If you are expecting that since PGPs with experience get so much of pay, you can get better because you have experience then it is a very wrong line of thinking. PGPEX course is more designed to give you maangement perspectives and groomed to make you a leader. What you make out of it is totally upto you. And salary is not the only success criteria, it can be role and position as well. So if you are comfortable with the fact that after a foreign job of say 100000 USD for an experience of 6 years you get a indian job after PGPEX of 20 lacs, then it is fine. But if you are expecting that you will get 150K USD job after PGPEX, it is not a very realistic scene.
Internships are largely on your own. We did not have internships given by institute. As i indicated in my earlier posts, i will give a very lenghty reply later.
Rightly said Sameer...Puys, I am also one of the students in the current batch at PGPEX.....would like to second Sameer...what he is mentioning above is correct...
we have a nice mix of industry backgrounds, although many people are from IT, having served different industries and functions within IT... I being one of the non-IT exceptions
....placements have largely been driven keeping in mind both the past diverse backgrounds as well as future aspirations, and a right balancing is must...and this year companies are responding much better than in the past, due to improved sentiments, & efforts too....
on internships, we had to manage it mainly through ourselves, though some Alumni approached us through the Office...companies sometimes do not take a 1 month internship too well, because to them it is too short a period to do something productive...but by and large we did not have much problem, and I guess we started planning for it & reaching out to our contacts a month or two before....hitherto, we somewhere plan to propose a 6-week internship & through formal channels, which should improve industry receptivity...
...keep posting your queries..& Sameer is putting it all great & rightly here... and I guess you might already have formed a yahoo or google group...so sooner as the admit list gets finalized, someone from our batch should contact you through PGPEX office to establish a more formal channel of communication, and provide more information about the program, our very own Kolkata, the nice campus life, and lots of subjects, study & assignments that we do here
