himanshumohan78 posted 02:45 PM, 14 Jun '06 hi , Congratulation for getting into Ox. I will be grateful if you can share your profile with me: reg gmat score academics professional exp/industry community work etc. thanks for your time regds HMG Hi, I too have been offered admission to Oxford. I am planning to send the Guarantee forms and Deposit next week. Regarding Visa, when is the best time to apply considering that the course starts in October? How long does it take to get the Visa? Also, is it a problem if you have applied for only 1 school in the UK? If any of the admits are in Chennai, we can have a discussion. My number: 938-060-2784. Thanks, Samuel. (Chennai) -

iday posted 01:41 PM, 13 Jun '06 Hi , I am an IT professional at present and plan to go in for an MBA through GMAT. I would like to get a rough estimate of how much financial investment shall I require for this purpose. Could any of you with prior experience , help me with this. Thanks. GMAT: The test costs US$250 and u'd need to shed money for ur prep books as well. The latter depends on the number of books u wanna use. Look around th net to figure out that. Applying: This depends on the number of schools to which u wanna apply and also on the schools themselves. If u'd need a rough estimate - it would come to around INR10000 per school. There are schools that charge on either side of this. You can figure this out thru the sites of the schools where u r planning to apply. If u r planning to apply to more than 5 schools, each additional score report will cost u some US$30 i guess, check the value at www.mba.com (the first 5 are free). @ school: School expenditures, again, vary. Depends on wheth... Read More » -

mbawannabetitus posted 11:18 AM, 09 Jun '06 s. 2. Apply to universities based on your past academic records/ Test scores/ achievements. Do not have rosy dreams of applying and getting admitted at only the top 5 or top 10 universities. This approach usually backfires. ) Hey i didnt understand the second point of your post.... about the number of universities to apply to...pl explain! -

medrecess posted 04:19 PM, 08 Jun '06 Hi, How well does a German MBA place you in the international market ? I've heard that study costs are quite less there compared to other places in the west , and the cost of living too seems to be not too high .....however , people say that degrees from there do not have much value. Can anyone post some gyan on this and probably name some good German Management institutes? Please dont waste your time and money on a german MBA.It is useless. There are a few good schools but not much value.I have explored this option for almost 1 year but came to the conclusion that even a small american school is better.I came in touch with a girl who had done her MBA from germany and her undergrad from BU.She told me that the German MBA is not very good and there are major problems like language and food if you are a vegetarian. -

Nothing else struck me at that point of time- I spoke about my experience as a language tutor in a call center of teachers where some indianteachers taught various subjects to kids in US. I called it knowledge process outsourcing. Not sure how well it went! Am expecting results in a week's time, with fingers crossed!. Dont want my first and only Ding in the five schools I aplied to! All the best for your result. Pl keep us posted. Also Pl post your profie. Thankx Azeem [smiley] -

nagpalkunal posted 05:48 PM, 07 Jun '06 Hi all, This is a question open to one and all. How would react in the following situation if you were looking specifically at getting into the top 10 B Schools in the world/USA? Prior to January 2006 you were at a reputed (only in India) services company in India for a period of 1 and half years. This is your first job after passing out of a highly reputed engineering school with a BE degree. The job profile there was marketing semiconductor and embedded multimedia solutions. Basically involving a lot of back end and sales support in your job profile. You can't take the slow path towards growing in the firm and quit. Next you jump to a consumer electronics giant, an MNC where you are supposed to do Business Development for their innovative solutions group. You travel to Far East countries like China and Korea during your short 6 month stay there. But you are not satisfied with the slow work style and can't take the ego of your bosses. Hence you start looking out for jobs again. Cut... Read More » -

amitmehrotra posted 01:29 PM, 06 Jun '06 Well there seems to be loads of concerns but none of them are too worrysome 1) Number of students attending the interview=400. I will accept this number but you have to remember the difference in the Indian and UK placement scene. In India even in IIMs every student has to get a job first and then they can apply elsewhere etc. But in the UK/US schools a person can get 4-5 offers. So even if you have 2 offers you wills till go and take part in the job fair. Whos doesnt want more money :-) 2) Recruitment scen of your Indian friend in Oxford. One thing to remeber is that in India IIms have an illogical craze so that the bottom 20% of the class also gets jobs. But this wont happen abroad the people in the bottom will have to struggle very hard. And its not only academic performance. Its also where you are slotted in the class profile. If the average experience of the class is 6 years and you have 2 years of work experience in India you are going to struggle. So if you are surprised ho... Read More » -

And need to know what min req ISB have fro candidates. thanks and regds HMG Ok guys, I have a dilema. and who better to help than the excellent crew at PG. What would you do in the below situation. Mathlab...which would you choose? HEC Paris/LSE (London School of Econ) Double Degree Masters. One year at each school with MBA at HEC and second masters of your choice at LSE. Accepted to the program or MBA at ISB- Interviewed and waiting word on accepted or not. Now, my goal after the degree is to work in India anyway, but my most of my family has situated to the states now, so I need the option and availability to attain a good job in the states if needed after graduation. I am really indifferent to which program I choose, both are great to me. I prefer to be in India, as I have no desire on north america or europe, having been the... Read More » -
