Suggestions for the new PaGaLGuY Chit-Chat

Hello again :)

Since the new site has been launched, we're working furiously to fix stuff and generally to keep things in order. I understand this is a huge change for all of you, but give it a week or two and you'll start getting used to and may be even appreciating the new one.

If you have spent a few hours with the new site or more, feel free to put in some suggestions here in this thread.

I'd appreciate it if you don't simply vent in this thread - would like it if you are logical and thoughtful about your responses.

We couldn't have gotten everything right, but we have enough time to fix em as we go along :)

no it searches the forum posts also.
PM me the exact string you searched for and will check what is happening

ya..but its not that intrinsic as before..i mean when i had to search for a particular question in which i had doubt, search results were more specific. It used to search within forums and i used to catch hold of that particular question in seconds ...But now it only matches the input string wit...

please enable search facility ASAP. Its a basic necessity and searching threads & users on our own is a waste of time....plzzz..its a humble request to implement search at minimum possible scale , if not on a massive scale so that we can continue at least something..CAT takers have barely 2-3 mon...

You're talking about the prep app. It will come back in a week :)

I cant find the topics under "mba prep in india" (which were there earlier) and gave the answers to various topic questions instantaneously. It also indicated the number of people marking that particular answer and a timer was also there to check the time taken. Has it been incorporated?

Interesting. So are we now allowing users to delete their posts too? I have obviously grayed, so forget it if this is a repeat :p
Also, again, been a while, but MG feels smaller (and younger!)..
Overall, I think there are several very good improvements. :mg:

A suggestion to ease browsing:
1. When I click on "Mba Forums", it shows subtopics such as "Exam based / .../ The Lounge"
2. When I click on "The Lounge", it shows subtopics such as "Chit Chat / ... / Touching Lives"
Would it not be better to just let me see the subtopics as I hover the ...

Hi..I think there is no way to find out if a fellow puy is online (old version used to show a green dot against the name)..It would be great if you can incorporate that in the new version..

Can we have more customization in Signature ? In older version I used to give :alien: in my Signature...

old search was bad. the only way forward is do your own search which is a very complex project. we have just started it. we will keep on improving it in the coming months and you will see gradual increase in the search results quality. also search now will be tailor-made for forums unlike google...

I hope the 'Sticky' thing is all about most recently updated threads,right? Another suggestion: the old PG didn't have a great search technique,but the new PG seems even more horrible when it comes to search a specific user(especially if he has not made a huge no. of posts/does not have a go...

evry thing id perfect but i want the PG PREP app which was added few days ago in the old site, it was helpfull, nd it also the percentile for the no. of questions we solve, so pls again add dat one....!!

Search is a big project we will work on over the next few months. It will get more accurate and better over time. Google wasn't contextual enough for what we plan.

I would suggest to get back customised Google search back as I still find it more effective.... just now i searched for CL proc 4 2012 and did not found the 2012 thread in the result.... i also searched rooney and it again did not resulted in any results.... Please look into the matter
