Never seen that feature of no of times replied to or quoted. I don't see the utility in that one except in rare cases, so won't be doing it. But the quant section mathematical symbol idea needs some further looking into
Actualy there is only one scenario where , the 'number of times this post has been replied to' feature finds use :
When a person clicks on a thread and lands on a page say (n-5), because since he left, 5 pages have been added to the ever growing thread, sees a post having an unsolved Qn in it, and gets excited because he knows the answer to it, and just when he is about to add a reply he spots on the last page that the Qn has already been replied to by a number of users late last night, only to feel now his excitement evaporating.
If the said information is available at the bottom of the post, then the super excited-Qn-devouring-vampire(thats not me!) can jump on to his next target Qn.
But since this feature is not realy important, it can always wait but surely should make way in future.
But as far as that mathematical symbol thing is concerned, PG deserves such kind of treatment, badly.
In fact I was amazed to see the Qns in Prepathon written in same primitive mathematical lingo using sqrts and x^2s and most innovative of all what I saw today, log_3 x for (log x to the base 3 ).
I was hoping to see the content coming from backend in its usual flavor, contrary to the posts people put in from frontend.
But I believe, once the editor powered with mathematical parser is in place, content from both backend and frontend will be in its originality.
Thanks for lending your ear to the suggestions.
