Reading 'SNAPSHOTS FROM HELL' .....must read for those who are going to do MBA

puys......do read "paths of glory" by jeffrey archer...its a true story about george mallory, supposedly the first person to climb Mt. Everest in 1923....3 decades b4 d official climb by Sir Edmund Hillary.....he died on the mountain n his body was lost until an expedition in 1999 found his body..he is believed to hav scaled d mountain successfully bcos he was last seen sm 100m away from the top by his mates....but den he dissappeared into eternity....until 1999!!! it is my fav read uptil now n has profoundly affected n cahnged my perspective of dreams n life....

2.the brothers karamazov by dostoevsky

Books i will recommend
NO ONE basically what i believe that u can't improve anything (be it your vocab/reading speed/usage or anything else) by reading something which isn't of any interest to you.

and one another thing i ve came across in which people ve suggested reading speed of 1000 wpm which in my view is not practical if u r really READING (1000/60=16.666 wps???)for me a good reading speed should be near bout 400-600 wpm depending upon how much you can retain.
plz don't groan at my post as it is my first one at pg after the intro one

PS:i don't know why but i find people very interesting that's why i ve a great interest in history and psychology and i find myself regularly reading large volumes of history and about works of frued whenever i get free time from my pathetic engineering student life @NIT nagpur

i ve also read dan brown's digital fortess sidney sheldon's doomsday conspiarcy and john grisham's the firm but with all due honour i ve found all of them of mediocre quality (especially doom's day conspiracy) so keep away from them puys

The authors have tracked the evolution of the Indian sports market right from the time when Farokh Engineer endorsed Brylcreem till today's IPL. The book covers cricket majorly and there are occasional mentions of other sports as well. It critically analyses why a particular player is fit to endorse a particular brand, the risks involved, the audience's expectations etc. Recommended for marketing buffs.

Julian Assange: The Unauthorized Autobiography is now availability on Infibeam, I've just received my copy (They first cancelled the order, saying there's a heavy demand for the book,it's not available, & later sent it to me without informing me, for 300 bucks). It's a first draft published by Canongate, distributed in India by Randomhouse. The book was published without the permission of the author, who initially was not satisfied by certain contents, which he desired to be amended. However, Canongate took the stance that since they had already paid an initial royalty installment to the author, he should not mind to the publication. Assange has spent that amount in legal fees over the sex scandal in which he is embroiled, so was in no position to take action against Canongate.

Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson is now available as softcopy. PM me if interested.

its sequel is "The Power" which is as good as the first book

Julian Assange's Autobiography has still not been released by Random House India. I checked their website, it was supposed to be released on Oct 10th. Telephone call to their Noida office solicited no response. Flipkart site still shows 'Awaited release', Infibeam cancelled the order. Let's wait & watch for a few more days, if nothing comes out of it, I'll buy from Random House UK & prepare a softcopy.

I recently read the book by Guy de Maupassant, a french story writer. It is a collection of his short stories. The book contains 14 short stories of french background in the early 20th century. The stories are quite different than normal short stories. Infact they are better.
And it will be quite interesting to know what he wrote on his epitah, " I have coveted everything and taken pleasure in nothing."

presently reading "Snapshots from Hell, the making of an mba" by Peter Robinson..the author who happens to be a stanford graduate writes the book with standford as his backdrop.. the book is witty and the author is candid..its basically a first hand account of the tough world of getting a top business school MBA..

P.S but unlike chetan bhagat's book, its deals more with the mba curriculum and the hectic life of a b school student(infact u will find some case studies in it)

I recently read 'Chankyas Chant" by Ashwin Sanghi....i great read..comparing ancient Chanakya n modern day Chanakya...
