Most of the questions asked in the exam are complete bouncers. So if you have a good base of financial terms, current rates, some of the banking terminologies and crucial data from last year then it would definitely help in intelligent guessing of answers.
Remember that some of my friends cleared the exam without even studying for it !! (So you can definitely without any effort!)
So it depends on you how much syllabus you want to cover.
I prepared the topics not only for the exams but also for my knowledge of economics.

no interview is held
did not refer to any book

bhavesh, how much time do u think should be dedicated for d entrance.......(for an engineer)
and after clearing entrance do they have interview round?......did u refer any book or we have to just concentrate on the aterial posted on rbi's site

120 questions 90 minutes
questions related to role of central bank/annual report/recent rates (bank rate/repo rate etc), RBI and its functioning....
not sure about the cut-off as the RBI does not declare it.

hey bhavesh cn u jst tell me what is the actual paper pattern ....means total no of ques asked...which type of ques asked etc etc.....and also abt the cutoffs....

the working hours are 9:30 to 5:00 with a one hour lunch in between (1 to 2).
These timings are quite flexible and the work is not that tough or serious.
No one questions you if you leave the RBI office in between to go to market or tourist attractions !

Yes they will allow you even if you have only 1 month vacation.
You will only be paid less.

and if student does not get 2 months vacations?....i have just 1 and half month vacations,,, will they allow?........my college has attendance problm .

I attempted almost all the questions but not sure how many I got right but still cleared it.
There is no negative marking as confirmed by an official at RBI New Delhi centre.

The duration of the internship is from May till mid August.
You do have a lot of flexibility in choosing the starting date. Some of the interns in Delhi joined as late as 15 June.
It is not necessary to do intern for 3 months. RBI usually asks you to complete 2 months (You can take a lot of leave in between. I took more than 20!).
A lot of engineering student crack it including me (3rd Year Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi)

can anyone tell me when does the internship starts or do they allow you some flexibility regarding the starting date....also is it a full fledged intersnship or could also manage it with my college studies and what if the college is not prepared to leave a student for 3 months or so...so can we do the project in breaks...and not but not the least has any engineering student cracket it

DO YOU THINK THERE IS NEGATIVE MARKING?
Coz with so many students appearing it wouldnt be possible without neg marking na?
you think it is safe to answer questions very carefully and leave out questions that we dont know >what did you do? pls share with us ur strategies!

it is mentioned on online form "do not send this form to bank". n what abt other documents? mark sheets? will they collect it at interview stage?

hey, 'm sure results on the site are authentic.no need to worry, i also haven't received a letter yet.

For the year 2011, 51,521 eligible applications were made for RBI YSS scheme, while the number of students applied during 2008 were approximately 20,000.

The important change, i observed during the RBI-2011 scheme is that, they rejected 1867 applications.

Are u sure that, u got offer letter, despite, u shown "Not selected" in the website?? Please confirm, as even u enter wrong details, it's showing "Not selected" instead of "Does not exist" or something like that.

@supriyanarang From what i have gathered, many people complete the intern in 1 and a half months too.So i guess it shouldn't be a problem.
@naveenkumarp no the IBPS no. is not present on the offer letter.

i am quite keen to appear in rbi exam ,schedule in 2012 but i am in certain dilemna...
placements in my college begins in last week of july(2012) so if i got selected in this exam, will i b able to finish up with my intern before placements? Also my final semester ends in d last week of may.

i dont know the details as i currently am in pilani and the offer letter came home in hyderabad.it said that i should report to the hyderabad office(the one i preferred) betwwen april 14 to may 15th

Those who are getting IBPS no. and Regional centre details are selected. If you are not selected then it clearly mentions in Red coloured letters "NOT SELECTED". Till now the selected candidates have not got any personal mail from RBI. That should put all your doubts to rest and about this hue and cry that the website is updating.

please someone confirm whether i' selected or not..!!! It's showing IBPS no. & something..!! But no mail or message that I'm selected. Is the website still updating or just can i confirm, as i got these details, whther others getting NOT Selected as a message

yep....goto d rbi site....in d yss section u will have a excel file of the list of candidates appeared for the exam...download that and search your name in that...der yu get your rollnum....

Hey friends I got through!!:cheerio: The mantra to success in this exam is that you should not rely only on the RBI resources and you must regularly read a business newspaper. In fact personally I didn't even read the RBI reports which in my opinion are a waste of time.(This is for people like me who study just 2 days before the exam)
